"I booked a room at The Old Barn via B . We stayed one night while walking along the Oxford Canal. It was a disappointment. When we arrived at around 1pm, we found the Dashwood Arms closed and a sign directing us to their sister pub, the Oxford Arms, down the road. The staff at the Oxford Arms were friendly, but seemed unaware of The Old Barn, informing us that the Dashwood was only open for functions. I received an email from The Old Barn at 11:53am with a code for access, stating there was no breakfast and suggesting we go to a village 2 miles away for food, which was inconvenient for us on a walking holiday. There were no shops in the village for us to buy anything for the morning. Our room was average and lacked amenities for hair care, with only body wash provided. We had trouble sleeping due to a bright green light on all night and the lack of security with the front door unlocked. I received multiple emails asking if we had checked in yet, but replies were rejected. I also received an email claiming I had not paid and requesting additional payment of £135, despite having already paid in full through B . I contacted B . for assistance, but have not heard anything from either The Old Barn or B . since. The online representation of The Old Barn at The Dashwood Arms, which boasts free WiFi, a bar, and proximity to Blenheim Palace, was completely false in our experience."

A couple of hours walking around the local countryside was perfectly complemented by a very tasty lunch, with good veggie options as well as good meat choices. Staff were efficient and friendly, so we would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful lunch at this little treasure of a pub in the English countryside. Lovely owners, dogs welcome, great for cyclist as there is safe parking. We also had a look round the rooms and would definitely recommend a stay here. A little gem not to be missed!

A lovely stay at this premises with my two small dogs. I would have liked it more if breakfast was available to those staying. I would have given 5 stars if there was a breakfast venue but I had to find breakfast elsewhere out of the village but hoping this is going to change soon.

What a lovely pub, a warm and friendly greeting preceded an excellent dinner with very attentive staff. A good menu too and very flexible. A chum and I were staying there whilst attending a car show at Bicester Heritage. The rooms were just perfect, very clean and spacious with everything you needed. I can thoroughly recommend the Dashwood Arms as a great hotel, pub, and restaurant. Speisekarte ansehen

My first time visiting Kirtlington and I had a fantastic Sunday lunch experience. The menu options were a pleasant surprise, with traditional Sunday roasts as well as exciting alternatives. My wife had the roast, which was so good she couldn't even finish it. I opted for the fish, which was light and delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and the landlord made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning soon.

There is nothing to write in favour of this place. Even the description on Trip Advisor is incorrect as it does not serve food, or drinks, and is purely a bed option with no breakfast. For that, you need to get in your car and travel. The welcome is non-existent as the manager uses a key in a combination box method with no personal greeting. The three rooms we had were all, at best, functional but some essentials were missing such as shower gel and shampoo. It is soulless and basic and definitely not one for a repeat visit for us and our four friends.

We visited Dashwood to meet up with my son and his family just before they moved to Tier 3. Due to the short notice of the new tier system, we had to change our booking, but Dashwood accommodated us without any issue. We dined outside in a gazebo with heating and a fire pit to keep us warm, which we truly appreciated. The food was fantastic, as were the mulled wine and hot chocolate. We felt very safe in terms of Covid precautions and have decided to make this pub our regular meeting spot with my son and his family in the future. Thank you to everyone at Dashwood! We stumbled across this lovely village pub by accident and liked the look of it from the outside. With it’s beautiful thatch and gorgeous little windows we decided to stop for lunch whilst on route to Devon. “Yes we got lost and took a wrong turn but so glad we did”. We we’re greeted by friendly staff from the onset and although we hadn’t booked lunch (Covid restrictions) it was absolutely no trouble at all. The menu caters for everyone with a great selection of lite lunches to main courses and super tasty deserts so you can choose to indulge with larger portions if you wish and it’s very reasonably priced too. The open plan kitchen was a delight, to see the chef’s at work gave me confidence...

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
