"An obnoxious young man who seemed to think it was beneath him to serve us was the second impression. The first was how far such a wonderful place with a proper eat in restaurant has now sunk. Back a few years it was cordial, clean and good cuisine, sadly no longer. We ate in at one of two tables, after the surly youth took our order. Eating in does not mean plates now, just an open takeaway tray and separate container for the mushy peas. Also a paper type cup for the tea. Okay, I could forgive all this if the fish, chips and mushy peas were a delight, but they were not. The haddock was a lovely piece of fish and tasted fine, once you had penetrated the oil soaked coating they pass off as batter The chips if that's what you can call them were very thin for a chip shop, and also full of oil and not a joy to eat. I know it's a new potato season but even so, try were rank. The mushy peas were mushy, but think I've had better from a tin from Aldi or Lidl. The tea in the paper cup however was a revelation it tasted like a good fresh brewed cup of tea. So in essence, if you want good fish and chips chips with polite and happy service go elsewhere, but if you only want a quick cup of tea it may suffice."

I had already fish and chips twice and both paints eating was really nice, great location on the high road and parking before when they were lucky.

"Service with complete indifference. As the title suggests the chips were dreadful. I threw most of them away. £3.50 I 'll never see again. I won 't be seeing the Dolphin fish bar, either!

order cod and chips x2 for £18.50 cod was beautiful and fresh. the muddy heaps and curry sauce also tasted great. the pockets cost 20p and the money is donated to a next love, proves to be hanging near the counter. how was a little while the shops on the pier had closed at this time

Visited a few weeks back now, we live in Louth and have heard great things about this Chippy. Having had a nice afternoon out we visited. We was not disappointed at all,. We had to wait about 10 mins for the food, however that was not an issue. The wait was for fresh food being cooked/fried. Unfortunately don't have any pictures as it was a few weeks back now. Would I recommend it. Yes I would. Will we visit again. Yes we will.

Used to do pretty good gush and chips, not quiet whitby standard but they used to be OK. Today's fish and chips are the worst I have ever had. Over cooked fish, inedible chops and a bun that should have been consigned to the bin a couple of days ago as it was hard and stale.they were never the cheapest but I didn't mind paying for decent quality. Based on today's visit I would consider it daylight robbery. The dolphin will never see my custom again. If this Was the only place to get food in the area I would rather starve. If I could give minus stars I would.

yesterday about the 2 ih and the service was absolutely great, the girl on the theke was so incredibly friendly and answered all the questions we had, the carry bags were 20p and the money went on the charity that I would not have been happier and would like to have paid for one. the food was freshly cooked to order, and despite this, the wait was not as long as in other chip shops, it also tasted incredible. we usually go to waldos when on vacation, but due to their cue decided to try delphin and will not return. customer service, eating everything in our opinion was so much better.

The Dolphin has changed so much. My memories from childhood of sitting with my grandparents at the table , and the pot of tea and bread and butter are so dear to me! The last time I came here with my children was 2018 and it was just as lovely. We had the nicest time. So so disappointed to find when visiting today it’s now a takeaway with a couple of tables. Just not the same. Food was nice but took ages and half the family were almost done before the other half got their food. (5 of us so not a massive group). It’s just a regular chippy now. Nothing like as special as it used to be. Very shouty man calling out names of orders. No ketchup in squeezy bottles either. You have to pay 50p for a...

Hi my wife and I visited yesterday for the first time since Covid having been to you many times over the years. We were disappointed to see that the restaurant area is no more we always enjoyed that aspect and loved the atmosphere and being served etc. However quite understand your reasoning behind discontinuing it as peoples ' eating and spending habits have changed post Covid. The food was lovely and we managed to nab a table outside so all good. Good value too in the current eating out climate. Just a couple of small points. We were pretty adjacent to the rubbish bin at the exit door which was well full and could have done with emptying. Appreciate the pressure re staffing when busy but j...

"I've been in Horncastle on business twice once on a Monday, once on a Tuesday and both times found the town mostly closed for business in the evenings. This time, just as I was on the point of deciding people in Lincolnshire must have a tradition of fasting on a Tuesday evening, I came across The Bull. This attractive old coaching hotel looked inviting, and the staff offered me a friendly welcome. The warmly lit, high ceilinged interior of this Georgian inn was full of diners (Yes on a Tuesday! Take note, other restauranteurs of Horncastle) and the ambiance was convivial. The selection of beers behind the bar was good and the two pints I drank were tasty and well kept. I was presented with two bar menus, a separate burger menu and shown a fish menu and a steak menu on the wall. (I understand tapas is also available at weekends). Quite a choice! The bar menus largely consisted of what you might call traditional pub grub of the best kind. Within that massive choice, there must have been at least half a dozen dishes I was really tempted by but, eventually, I plumped for the cauliflower soup followed by the pork belly, mash, peas and apple gravy. Both courses were outstanding and extremely generous in size, especially the pork belly. My only disappointment was that I hadn't room in my distended belly to squeeze in a spotted dick for pudding! My bill, for such a large and excellent meal, was very modest. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Bull and would definitely eat and/or drink there again."
