good pub near the train station in edinburgh. very cozy, only the problem for us was forgotten after we ordered desserts. give the personal their debt, they have at least apologised, otherwise very pleasant meal.

Delicious, wholesome food using good ingredients. Fantastic 17c building. Reasonable prices. Very much enjoyed the haggis, shepherd's pie, cheese. Husband had espresso beer. Menu needs grammar checks, misuse of apostrophes- price's -yikes. Speisekarte ansehen

The restaurant, now called The Merkat, offers delicious food at affordable prices. The staff is friendly and they always have homemade soup available, which is not common in other places. There are plenty of homemade dishes to choose from as well.

During a visit to friends last year who live near this restaurant, we decided to have a bar supper and a pint of ale. Upon arrival, we witnessed two police officers in the parking lot trying to break up a fight between two drunken individuals. Unfortunately, another altercation occurred inside the pub between two intoxicated individuals shortly after we arrived. We were disappointed with the service when ordering our drinks, as the staff seemed uninterested in providing good customer service. Due to the atmosphere, we decided not to stay for a meal. In my opinion, I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

Our table was ready for us whenever we arrived. Service throughout was prompt and customer friendly. The wines were all a bit pricey (the American Pinot Grigio was pretty awful but the Pinotage was excellent). The highlight of the evening was definitely the food, both in terms of quality and quantity. The Cullen Skink was first-class, traditionally done, as it should be! The tiger prawn linguine was blessed with a barrow-load of these excellent prawns. The carpaccio starter and the sea bass main were also very good and plentiful.
