was ok that the drinks were not as cheap as we had 50 % food business that had introduced government. yet we still cost a bit of drinks. besides this very nice and tidy.

I was staying at the hospital and a nurse had recommended the Sunday roast. I wasn’t disappointed. I had roast beef with all the trimmings and it was lovely. The beef was lovely and tender, to much for me but I’m not a big meat eater. Veggies were lovely and fresh and roast potatoes nice and crispy. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I will return next time I’m in the area.

We sat out in the back garden. The food was excellent, couldn't fault it. Chicken Tikka Masala and chicken supreme both lovely, chips were really crunchy, but soft inside. The garden could really do with a serious clean up bits of rubbish stuck in the tables and fag ends around that need clearing. The tables could do with a lick of varnish. I had a Sunday lunch here on remembrance Sunday and it was so nice to see the pub supporting the local community hosting local uniformed services. The pub is a nice traditional English pub, with a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The downside was the food, I was expecting a nice traditional roast dinner, however the dish came out swimming in gravy to the point that you couldn't see the meat. The gravy was watery, had very little flavour. I had the lamb, which tasted nice, but was extremely thinly sliced and resembled more like the meat you expect from a microwave meal. WWI wounded Aussies at the local hospital drank at this pub. Royalty visited this pub. It has real history! Low ceilings. Cosy sitting areas. Well stocked bar. Sunday lunch was excellent!
