"Sakonis offers Indian vegetarian food with some Indo Chinese options and is located on Ealing Road, now for quite some time a predominantly Gujarati area of London, with its menu largely reflecting its local customer base. The restaurant is relatively large and this was our second visit in as many months. Last month we were able to walk in and dine without a reservation but this time we had a reservation for the six of us, which was a wise decision because there were queues at times that we observed. While the buffet seemed extremely popular (especially for the soft ice cream! and our server encouraged us to avail of the buffet, not unsurprisingly, we opted for a la carte a decision that we did not regret. The Sakonis website is very modern and loads quickly, offering modern and well taken photographs of some of the dishes. The mogo chips were one of the starters that we ordered and were well made, a little crispy around the edges, soft in the middle, with a spicy sauce that was right at the cusp. We also ordered the palak paneer and the paneer butter masala, both of which were excellent. Of the two I would say that the latter was a little more flavoursome a surprise since I love spinach perhaps the palak paneer could have been a little more spicy. But the star of the show was surely the bathuras that came with those particular large plates (options also included naan and puri . In fact they were so popular with our group that we ordered an additional four and although they took rather long to arrive, when we compared our fresh, hot bathuras that lingered on the buffet table getting cold, we were sure that we had made the right decision. We also ordered a hakka noodles but that was rather insipid both in look and taste although we could see plenty of diners ordering the Indo Chinese dishes. The masala tea was just alright not nearly as good as Dishoom's for example, but the inclusion of a Parle G biscuit is a cute touch. Service was great even if the late order of bathuras was rather slow. Ria was particularly helpful. We plan to visit again in the summer."

"So I did Ping Pong twice in a week. Once with a friend because it was local (St Paul's) and second, because I was at Wembley for a concert and it was the one with the smallest queue. Ping Pong has never really been a draw for me in the past, its never been a case of I MUST GO THERE. I have passed it several times when in Westfield Stratford and settled on Bumpkin, Busaba Eathai, even TGI Friday's. I am starting to come around to dim sum. With recent visits to Hakkasan, Bintang and Mama Lan, these tasty Chinese style bite sized pockets of goodness are growing on me. Ping Pong spaces are always quite big. I love the dark wood and rich chocolately interior. I live for the island seating, watching the Chefs do their thing (not at all locations). For now, I will focus on Wembley, simply because I was impressed with the seamless service regardless of the fact that it was mad busy with concert goers everywhere. We queued for 45 minutes which is to be expected with 65,000 people in the area. This was made up of actually standing in the queue and then having a drink at the bar. The system they have is good, they take your mobile and call you when your table is ready. This is the only way for them to successfully navigate through the traffic of bar customers and queuing hungry people. At the bar, my only negative so far was that the wine was not chilled so we needed ice. Diluted wine is not a good thing. Once we were sat, our waitress was unaffected by the demanding clientele in her section, was chirpy and attentive. The sequence of service was flawless. Drinks arrived promptly, food arrived as it was ready. The food was good. All the staff floated around the room, appearing to be in control. If there was tension, I could not see it. This site is obviously built for volume on days like this and they have the right team to facilitate it. In terms of food, I will amalgamate both dining experiences as they were on par. We went all out ordering duck spring rolls, prawn on toast with mango salsa and soft shell crab. There was also prawn and chive dumplings, I had black prawn dumpling. Honeyed chicken and mushroom rice pot and vegetable sticky rice completed the banquet. I think that Ping Pong lends itself well to sharing. There is so much goodness, it would be rude not to share. I will continue my dim sum journey and if Ping Pong happens to be in the vicinity, it will certainly be considered for another visit."

"GOOD FOOD TERRIBLE SERVICE I was looking for somewhere local to Wembley stadium. I had an overseas guest visiting who had tickets to a Wembley event. There were only 4 tables seated when we arrived. I had to ask could we order after 20 minutes of waiting. Whilst we were waiting for our starters another table (6 guests) were seated, orders taken and served. I chased our order. It took a total hour for our starters to arrive. Thankfully they were worth waiting for. Fresh crisp calamari, although unfortunately I was also given lemon mayonnaise despite advising I could not have any citrus. The cheesy garlic bread was also delicious. Very large portion, but you can imagine we were pretty hungry by this point. Meanwhile 2 other tables (2 guests and 10 guests) arrived and were served. I again chased our order. The table of 6 that arrived after us were served, had eaten and left before our main course arrived. The table of 2 and 10 also had their mains before us. By now were were running short of time and asked that our main course be brought as soon as possible, and not wait until we had finished our starters. That didn't happen. We had to ask again. The spaghetti bolognese was delicious, and would have been perfect with a sprinkling of parmesan, which we weren't offered. The lamb shank was not the best that I have had. The potatoes with which it was served were a little too watery, not the soft peaks that I was expecting. Although I had not been to Gusto before, the review online was positive, whilst warning about the slow service, which is why I allowed 2 hours. It took 2 1/2 hours, and that was with my questioning. It would have been far worse had I not done so. I can't imagine how bad it would be on a busy night. Perhaps that is why it was quiet on a Saturday night. When we went in I was impressed and hoped that I had found a new restaurant to regularly visit. Sadly it was my first and will be my last visit."
