Under new owners. Been a great hotel in the past. Bit rundown. Needing big refurbishment.

Went for an anniversary meal while we were on holiday in Scotland. Service slow and food mediocre. Nice view from the dinning room though. Service: 3 Location: 4

Went for lunch twice whilst in holiday at Homelands. Staff friendly and very welcoming, food delicious and plates plentiful. Would have been good to have had a lighter lunch menu option. All in all would definitely recommend Service: 5 Location: 5

The staff and the views in the lounge were lovely. A warm, crackling faux fire place made it cosy. However, the food was a real disappointment. I had chicken, rice and veg soup but it was lacking in flavour like it had no stock or herbs/seasoning in it. The waiter was happy to exchange it. I then ordered the prawn Marie sandwich which wasn't much better, I ate it because I was hungry. Any sandwich made with cheap margarine leaves a synthetic taste. The side salad had no seasoning, a watery dressing, again lacking in flavour. My mother in law had the fruit scone, which last week she said was lovely, but today was not good. An expensive hotel!!! where the booking did not go smoothly. Rooms are austere with curtains hanging half off the rails. Our daughter-in-law had a bad mattress. There was no key for the connecting door. After a long time of nagging and pulling, we were given a key that we had to return if we were not in the room. Menu was extremely sparse. No choice at all for vegetarians. Initially we were supposed to eat there but we quickly canceled that. Bathroom didn't last either. Sparse with towels and flimsy disposable cups. No locker. No refrigerator. All very scanty. Oh yes, and what about one teaspoon for two people? It was uncomfortably hot in the rooms. Radiators were on in the middle of summer....
