This traditional English pub is definitely worth a visit. I came across it while exploring the Reading Ale Trail and have since visited twice. The pub offers a great selection of fine ales and delicious food. Highly recommended! Thank you.

Enchanting and cozy. Great service, delicious food, and interesting books on their bookshelf! Not to be missed — pictures of the characters from The Wind in the Willows along the hallway by the washrooms. The author lived not far from there.

The food here is exceptional. The outdoor seating area offers a charming view of the fields, while the indoor space is warm and inviting. It tends to get quite busy on the weekends, but the staff are always efficient and friendly. It's also a great place to stop after a walk in Caversham. Speisekarte ansehen

Hey! This place is nicely warmly welcoming. The food is cooked right (beef) and portions are quite large balancing the price. The staff is polite and wouldn’t rush you, altogether in a family atmosphere. Large car park, large beer garden in the back along with some tables out in the front, large tables, large and clean toilets so overall all quite ‘largely’ impressed. Give it a try!

Fantastic pub atmosphere for all the family. I cannot recommend this place more highly. The atmosphere, service and food were all top notch. The menu is clearly labelled for all food allergies which makes the experience seem less. For those that are gluten free the options are plentiful and there is even a GF Yorkshire pudding. Surprisingly or not the tractor provides endless joy for the kids.

I've been a week ago in this lovely place with some colleagues from work. I ordered one dish as a main course. King Prawns Chorizo Salad I have to say, the pics are no the best because under all those salads, I have a good bunch of prawns and delicious grill chorizo without fat. However, the salad was a bit oiling on the bottom but very nice. The prices are a bit higher but nothing unusual in Reading. Cheers Speisekarte ansehen

This is a lovely pub with a charming countryside atmosphere. The garden is wonderful, and the pub offers a warm welcome. We ordered a few snack plates and highly recommend the headless whitebait, as well as the steak sandwich. My first choice was no longer available, so I opted for the burger. It had good flavor, but was a bit dry. The steak sandwich, however, was absolutely fantastic. The beer was enjoyable, and the owners were very friendly. I will definitely return, but I'll try something different next time.

This restaurant has really declined. We've visited multiple times and usually enjoyed it, but our last experience was terrible. The starters took over an hour to arrive, and the children's meals took even longer. When we inquired with the staff about the delays, they were rude and defensive. The quality of the food has also changed for the worse. Overall, the staff were unhelpful, the food was subpar, and the communication and customer service were lacking. It's such a disappointment, especially since we chose this place for a birthday celebration, which ended up ruining the day! Here’s the £9.50 hot dog, and it wouldn’t be so bad if they had shown even a little remorse!

Very popular pub/restaurant, which is quite an achievement given its location, meaning you would generally drive there. From this perspective, it is the food that attracts those having to drive home. That said, a large selection of gin and reasonable selection of beers for those fortunate enough to be in the passenger seat. We have often enjoyed the Sunday Roast, which is nicely cooked and good quality. TBH I haven 't left feeling full, but the quality is good to justify the slightly high price (although this is hard to equate given the price of things these days). Dogs are very welcome, but only in the bar area. They even have a selection of 'special treats ' that you can buy from a basket... Speisekarte ansehen
