"The service was highly disappointing asked one of the staff members questions about the menu which they wasn’t sure of the answer to any of the questions. I had came with my mum and partner as my mum wanted to try the scallops. She ordered something off the socials board my partner ordered the chicken kebab and I ordered some tapas dishes. We waited over an hour before one dish came (my tapas dish or one of) then another tapas dish followed five minutes after and so on. I had then one dish left to arrive when both my mum and my parents food arrived. The whole point of going for food as a family is to eat together I can cook at home and sit down and eat when I’ve sorted out everyone else. Once then mentioned to one of the staff members she said “it’s just how it works it comes out when it’s ready” Well that tells me the chef who I believe is called Chris needs to time his food a little better but his cooking skills were good but the family meal atmosphere was spoilt. Won’t be returning"

Great food and place for a special occasion or just a casual night out. The food is delicious and accommodation is spacious and a historic building with a great nights sleep everytime we visit!

Another excellent meal at the rake, as always, we ordered far too much, but were able to take excess food home. Staff were wonderfully helpful, even when changing the original booking which I couldn’t do online. Very friendly atmosphere with a warm open fire on a cold night. Thank you to all the staff

Second time I have stayed here and I’m pleased to say the exceptional standards have been maintained. We were st a friends birthday party so unfortunately couldn’t have dinner in the restaurant but we did have an amazing breakfast the following morning. Everything was superb. We will definitely be back for dinner soon!

My stay at the rake tapas was excellent. The staff were so lovely and welcoming the food was amazing. It is obvious that a great deal of care goes into choosing the best quality ingredients which are then cooked and presented perfectly. I stayed in the suit which was absolutely charming. The bed and bed linen were so comfy. A perfect stay. Excited to return.

Booked an evening table with overnight stay with my partner. This place is so lovely. A really quirky old building with open fires. Our room was really spacious, clean with gorgeous roll top bath. Huge, comfortable bed. The food was unbelievable. We ordered a couple of tapas dishes and the steak with scallops special was cooked perfectly and was so good my partner ordered a second. A very talented young chef. Service from bar staff and waitress was super. All were really friendly and they couldn't do enough to make our stay a lovely experience. We will definitely be back!
