The Ship Pub And Dining

1st time visit and wont be the last.Looking forward to a Sunday dinner. The Dovenby special was awesome and the staff were fantastic 5.

We had a family night out at the Dovenby Ship. The kids enjoyed their meals, and Mark, Sam, and I all enjoyed ours as well. We had a great time and I would definitely come back.

Visited on a Saturday night. It was v busy. We had to wait a long time for our food. The pie was good but the vegetables were very poor, just peas a spoonful of cabbage. Won’t be rushing back Speisekarte ansehen

1st time here, and it was absolutely one of the Best, made to feel welcomed from the moment we entered. The staff were great, very friendly, the food was gorgeous, huge, huge portions, and not dear at all, I had chicken in stilton n leek...sauce, which I highly recommend, home made chips, which you dont often get, it was simply lush, and I'm looking forward to returning

she was looking forward to a great bar meal in this special pub as before many years ago and had good memory of the food. I ordered the veggie lasagna, which swim in liquid and consisted mainly of drowned and green beans (which is a 1st for me) eating was lukewarm and was served on a cold plate! (Hot Plate is a must) a set of menu was not available for the rest of the party. no personal came by to check our table after serving. (another must be in the hospitality) all the employees were nice and polite. overall bad food standard.

When we first arrived we thought this place looked good. Lookinb at the menu we seen lots of choice. But it was freezing and no heating was on. I had to sit with my coat on all night. Food was served on cold plates and...went cold fast. Onion rings served cold to begin with. The chips were nice, but also went cold fast, and were served in a veg dish with 3 bowls in it…? The portion was enough to feed 4 x meals. They give you way too much. You get so much that you can’t actually enjoy it. Would be much better on a small plate with a little bit of each side. For example, chips in a bowl/basket on the side. Very disappointed with this place. Will not be coming back. Speisekarte ansehen

for evening meal, eat in order, a meal not all are eaten, so asked for “doggy bag” to house. the karton box has brought me to the table to put the left over the meal in the box. I asked that this be done in the kitchen, so the waiter said he would put the food in the box for me "on table". again I said that this can not happen in the kitchen after I explained that I did not want to eat from the plate to the box at our table emptied, he took the plate away and returned with the food box with food spots on the top and side of the box back. I mentioned at the cash payment and was asked if I wanted new clean box! I have never seen this, I will always eat and prepare in the kitchen to take away

I visited here on a Saturday lunchtime with my grandchildren. The staff were wonderful with them and very attentive overall, nothing was too much trouble. We all ordered food, the children’s meals were huge. I had the festive pie. The vegetables were beautiful and the...home made chips delightful; crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Again, the serving was huge. The gravy was served separately in a large gravy boat. The children all had desserts, the homemade brownie was amazing. The Ship is in a beautiful location with a lovely garden, it has a lovely stream bubbling through the garden, I can’t wait to visit when the weather is warmer and sit outside. it is a big restaurant and I have been a few years ago and it was good. Yesterday I appreciate it was 6.30 a.m. on Sunday, but with only one Cask-Ale, they had already run out without planned immediate replacement. the cold pump of theakston. also out, so it was camp or john smiths. the food ran fast, with the Mainstay-Steak ale pie' already, like others, like Sunday dinner, and steak in a yorkshire pudding. the veg was just warm, like the huh, ham and leek pie. that tastes good, but if I have a bugbear with a pub meal, it is when it is served on a cold dish. they go out for a hot meal; What is difficult to warm up a plate? all the hot meal times on a table for 10 people were cold, and I not...
