"I had not visited anywhere that works quite the same way as The Town Street Tao before and I have to confess that I was a little wary of the concept. For those that have not visited, you find your seat table if you can and peruse the beer menu on the wall beam. The waiter then comes to take your order hence my initial panic regards how long it could take to get a drink and whether the staff would notice when I was approaching the bottom again. I don't recall the young man's name but he was quite new to the position and was a natural engaging us in conversation and offering recommendations regards the available beers etc. Also, my fears were quickly abated as the excellent level of service meant that we had soon had 4 drinks rather than the 3 we might have otherwise had not that there was any form of pressure at any time. All round great experience and well worth multiple return visits. As well as their own ales it was also good to see the local Darley Abbey Cider on sale here."

I absolutely love coming to places like this for a couple of pints. The selection of ales is fantastic, and the customers are friendly and enjoy chatting with each other. It's like a little piece of heaven.

This is a fantastic spot for enjoying a drink and conversation with full table service. They offer the option of trying three different drinks with smaller portions, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The craft beer and cider selection at this restaurant is fantastic, with a wide variety to choose from. The staff is knowledgeable about the options and the prices are very reasonable. It feels good to support local brewers in the area.

In Duffield for a railway event and fancied a pint. Ended up with a Scotch egg and a sausage roll! Great choice of beers and the food was tasty. Barman welcoming and knowledgeable. Right by where the path from the station comes out. Would recommend and will visit again.

Great choice of real ales and ciders, constantly changing. 1/3,1/2 or pint so easy to try a variety. Free tea or coffee. Pork pies on sale, Thursday evening local butcher does excellent food, one meat dish or a vegetarian option. Or you are welcome to bring in a takeaway e.g. from Fennels next door, fish n chips opposite, curry nearly opposite etc. Monthly pop up van.

Attended an Indian Food event which was very disappointing badly thought out. Arrived an hour before the event pleased you get the last table as they don’t take bookings. However instead of taking food orders you had to queue outside in the cold for the food. Gave up after half an hour. Great place for beers but feel that the event should have been so much better. One guy joined us at our table to eat his food and he said it was lukewarm with very limp soggy chips.

What an excellent place to visit for a quiet drink and to enjoy the magnificent selection of beer!! We had the most professional, friendly and knowledgeable chap serve us who is a credit to the place. He really knew his stuff and impressed us both with his advice on what to chose. He impressed us that much that it inspired me to write a review which I rarely do. Town Street Tap we will most definitely be back and we hope that Ben will be working to sell us more delightful beer and gin. Fantastic little gem of a place!!

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
