Whitstone's Traditional Fish And Chips

The serving staff were lovely and polite but the manager/owner was obnoxious. The food was dreadful and overpriced. Yuk

We were a group of twelve who had a complex order. The responses to Facebook messages prior to maki g the order was very speedy. Dealing with Nikki was a dream and everything was ready in time and individually labelled. Food was absolutely delicious, hot and yummy! Thank you Nikki and team :

I was kindly invited to join a friend and family for a lunchtime anniversary treat. May I say the fish and chips I had restored my faith in fish and chips! Unfortunately my local chippy in town isn’t a patch on yours! They were simply delicious! None of needed to eat for the rest of the day! Very disappointed , Terrace closed , decided to have takeaway , the area where you order is divided off with Perspex screens . You feel like you are stuck in a time when we were in Lockdown , very strange . The long anticipated food arrived and was very mundane nothing special at all . This Restaurant/ Takeaway had come highly recommended, not sure if we had come on a bad evening ? but we won’t return .

The best F and C I’ve ever had no contest..fresh from the fryer the taste is hugely better than the take away experience something is always lost in trasit home. But I get takeaways too. The wine list is simple but amazingly cheap. The service excellent and rapid , always with a smile. The puddings are as fantastic as they are enormous. You need to be a nifty parker to wiggle your car into the parking spaces outside.

Though part of a large visiting group, there was a varied cross section of comments regarding quality of the food, some found the fish with more batter than fish and too many chips, had faggots, no taste, bland, looked like a ball of processed finely mince meat, chips though cooked looked anaemic, were not crisp and were verging on tasteless, an unwanted large portion. However their sister shop in Westfield is the only shop for miles that is still refusing to allow its customers inside their premises, using their Covid screens etc.. Customers supported them for 2 years during very difficult times in all weathers, waiting outside in cold and masks etc to help them stay afloat. Why they are now treating customers with such contempt is beyond me.... we can serve you quicker they say.... thats a ridiculous excuse. i wont return until i can wait for my fish and chips inside in the dry.

It is our last night staying in Shepton Mallet. We fancied Fish and Chips as a quick and easy meal. As Whitstones is the only F+C shop in town we went here. The service was fast and friendly but unfortunately that’s where the experience ends. If this was Jesus’s last meal he would have taken his life easier. The fish was like rubber, the batter chewy, cod bites rock solid and the chips were wet and soggy. I town desperately needs another chip shop! Such a waits of £30! Yes, I said £30. For fish and chips twice and cod bites and chips.

Being a fan of fish and chips for as long as I can remember, I have to say that Whitstones fish and chips at Radstock is superb. I’ve recently been on holiday on the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, Devon and Dorset and I always ask the locals where the best chippie is however none of them stack up to my local Whitstones. Sometimes it’s the fish that lets these shops down, sometimes the batter and sometimes the chips but not Whitstones, it’s absolutely the best. If you’re in the Radstock area and you like fish and chips like me give it a go, you won’t regret it. Speisekarte ansehen
