"Oh My God! I have just heard about 'The Woodford Words ', a pathetic attempt at some kind of customer centric mantra I assume? A warm welcome every time Nothing is too much trouble . When people visit, they get what they want without any fuss The list of stomach churning tosh goes on.....but just look at the poor reviews. Went here the other day for coffees and was told we couldn 't sit by the lake unless we were eating. We could only sit up by 'the shed ' if we only wanted drinks! Went here again today after the 4 mile walk that starts at Woodford Lodge and asked for coffees. This time a girl told us to come back later as they wanted to clear the food orders first?! 'The shed ' was closed therefore no drinks available there, so that 's why we came the few feet to the lodge and after all we were paying customers whether we were eating or not. There are no signs to say 'food only '. As we left I heard the same girl ask a couple who were sitting down if they would.like any drinks. I asked her why she had offered them drinks, but not us. They are eating she said. They were only looking at the menu, that 's all. I asked her again for drinks and she simply said she couldn 't as it 's management rules . I have never heard such rubbish and welcome a 'management ' response to confirm that they discriminate between drinkers and eaters at will. Who knows, we may well have ordered some food too?"

"This was my first time of visiting. The service was fine, but the mains and drinks were an issue. The dishes we ordered lacked meat (a few chunks) and the sauce drowned the little meat leaving us with more a soup and rice rather than a curry. Disappointed. When we were given the bill (which was taken from me on payment) I was disappointed to see that we had been over charged for x2 starters (a side was added as a started) but the worst of it all was the issue of water, which I have named 'Watergate '. When we sat down there was a bottle of water on our table (Highland Spring glass one). This was not a new one (the seal was broken) and it was filled with tap water (I know the difference). I was amazed to see on out bill that we were charged around £3.50 for drinking tap water which was on all tables. How many other people have got stung this way? I did not order water it was there already and we drank it TAP WATER. I am aware that this is a BYO (which I believe they charge £1.50 corkage). Quite frankly, I could have gone over to the SPA, bought a bottle of water (which would have been tastier, paid corkage and still been better off. I will not be returning. I wonder how many other people have merrily paid their bill and not noticed these 'little extras '. Although I did not dispute the bill simply because I could not be bothered, I left feeling miffed and that I would have been better off getting a take away from a supermarket together with a bottle of proper Highland Spring water. Never mind, we live and learn and a lost customer."

"Table booked for a Monday lunchtime and two friends and I were looking forward to a nice lunch. We recieved a warm welcome from the waitress and were shown to our table. We were surprised to see that only abou tables were in use...as its usually busy. We ordered our drinks and were told that there were several items on the menu that weren't available so we gave our orders and settled down for a good natter! After minutes, nothing had arrived and no one had been over to tell us what was going on. Eventually after minutes of waiting, we asked one of the waitresses where our food was and she went off to find out. She came back to tell us that it would be with us shortly which turned out to be another minutes later! The food was OK but the portions were a bit on the small side given the prices we were paying. As we had waited so long, we didn't have time for desserts or coffee asnd when paying the bill, we asked why the long delay and were told there was a problem in the kitchen There was a sort of mumbled apology but no offer to knock off a bit on the bill! If they have problems in the kitchen which would result in a delay, I would have thought that this would have been communicated to the customer, and one has to wonder, if there were problems with so few customers in, what would happen if the place was busy? There are many pubs and restaurants in this area and they really need to provide some customer service training for their staff if they wish to attract customers and keep them happy. Suffice to say, we won't be going back!"

"After meeting with friends we decided to go for a curry in Keynsham. We have been here before with no problem what so ever hence why we returned. Everything started fine with the senior manager recommending a curry for me instead a phal I like it very hot) I said that would be fine but I doubt I would find the reconnection hot enough. The waiting staff two younger gentleman from being over drinks and poppodoms seemed not very welcoming or even happy which was shown with communication and just dumping food on table. The problems started when our food arrived and two out of 3 dishes were fine. However my dish seemed to have had a cup of sugar added to it as was extremely sweet , it was so sweet I thought it was a joke. After mentioning this I got half way through it) the wittier said fine in a sharp tone took it away and then returned 5 minutes with another curry . Now bearing in mind I had eaten half before I raised issue I could only manage half of this. After asking for the bill I noticed I was charged £16.95 for my curry other two were £11.95) I said to waiter I was not happy paying full price and said I would happily pay £10 . At this point the younger waiters got very aggressive and locked the doors not allowing us to leave , after trying to talk to them and explain my reasoning it was landing on deaf ears. After 15 minutes of arguing the older senior waiter came down and apologies and agreed to the discount for food not being at standard and made the younger waiters unlock the door, after this one of the younger waiters still was swearing at us. We were still hugely over charged , in total the price was £73 for 3 curry’s £11,95,£11.95 reduced one £10), 3 rice , 1 nann bread , 3 popodoms they were adamant we had 6 but I only asked for 1 each) and pickle tray, two bottles of wine were purchased cash separate from bill. I’m sure the management will reply denying or putting blame on us but to be locked in and held because I wanted discount on 1 curry that was very poor, to add we agreed to pay for everything else full price. Advice I would give is check your bill and if your not happy be prepared to be challenged by aggressive staff who may lock you in. However the older waiter was very professional."
