"Whilst I’m sure the food is nice, I didn’t get as far as trying it. My first and only experience was when I popped in to ask about Christmas lunches. Having just had this Christmas, I was naturally thinking ahead to our plans next year looking into one of their take away dinners, as a way of making our Christmas day run a bit smoother. I’m not quite sure what made the chef (owner? quite so cross. I could hear him loudly telling the waitress (to pass on to me : “I ain’t even thinking about Christmas. Don’t know if we’re even doing it again but I ain’t talking about it”. Loudly saying this, when I was stood right there yet not making eye contact with me. It made me feel so small and stupid for asking about it. I came away feeling like I never want to eat there, don’t want to recommend it and that the customer service is somewhat lacking. Make people feel like valued customers, it’s so easy. If you’re cross with your potential customers for even enquiring before they’ve experienced your food, something isn’t right. I was just asking a question about a service the cafe offers. I’ve since read through some Google reviews, the worst rated all complain about the owner being aggressive/ rude… Edited after owner’s response: You’re right, how dare I pop in when I was passing (I’m not often in the area! and when you had customers. Wishing you your woeful customer service a prosperous year."

"Came for a Christmas do. First time I've been here. Having been to many of these, over the years, you kind of know what you're going to get. Limp lettuce, luke warm food and staff who've had enough. I can honestly say that The Brew House was nothing like that! The table was set up in the corner for us, crackers and decorations not over the top, but enough to help with the mood. About 15 of us at various points and we all fit quite well with space to eat. After chatting for a bit the starters were brought out. I'd opted for the celeriac soup. It was delicious. Seasoned well, no need to reach for the condiments, and was warm and rich. Really great soup. I sound surprised, but soup is usually hit or miss... This was a hit. From the table I could only hear good things about the other starters, which I've forgotten what they were old age. Because I'm awkward, my main was off the normal menu which they don't normally do this time of year and was a special request as I couldn't eat anything else... food allergies and the like. I have to say the mushroom burger was a delight. From the top down you had three pieces of gloriously squeaky halloumi, a large mushroom stuffed with breadcrumbs and garlic and probably lots of butter, rounded off by a huge slice of tomato, lettuce and I think pesto. It was delicious and if you see this on the menu in the new year please try it. It came with fries that were golden and crispy. A really nice course all round. Others had the turkey, beef or fish and again I heard no complaints. Pudding was a simple affair of a lemon cheesecake but, again, it was really superb. The other choices were Christmas pudding and something I've forgotten!! Staff were really friendly and helpful bonus points for having an accessible toilet on the ground floor. As we left an interesting party arrived at the bar... I would assume this is a very popular venue with students given its close proximity to the college and the university. Lovely meal, great atmosphere, I would most definitely come here again!"

"After meeting with friends we decided to go for a curry in Keynsham. We have been here before with no problem what so ever hence why we returned. Everything started fine with the senior manager recommending a curry for me instead a phal I like it very hot) I said that would be fine but I doubt I would find the reconnection hot enough. The waiting staff two younger gentleman from being over drinks and poppodoms seemed not very welcoming or even happy which was shown with communication and just dumping food on table. The problems started when our food arrived and two out of 3 dishes were fine. However my dish seemed to have had a cup of sugar added to it as was extremely sweet , it was so sweet I thought it was a joke. After mentioning this I got half way through it) the wittier said fine in a sharp tone took it away and then returned 5 minutes with another curry . Now bearing in mind I had eaten half before I raised issue I could only manage half of this. After asking for the bill I noticed I was charged £16.95 for my curry other two were £11.95) I said to waiter I was not happy paying full price and said I would happily pay £10 . At this point the younger waiters got very aggressive and locked the doors not allowing us to leave , after trying to talk to them and explain my reasoning it was landing on deaf ears. After 15 minutes of arguing the older senior waiter came down and apologies and agreed to the discount for food not being at standard and made the younger waiters unlock the door, after this one of the younger waiters still was swearing at us. We were still hugely over charged , in total the price was £73 for 3 curry’s £11,95,£11.95 reduced one £10), 3 rice , 1 nann bread , 3 popodoms they were adamant we had 6 but I only asked for 1 each) and pickle tray, two bottles of wine were purchased cash separate from bill. I’m sure the management will reply denying or putting blame on us but to be locked in and held because I wanted discount on 1 curry that was very poor, to add we agreed to pay for everything else full price. Advice I would give is check your bill and if your not happy be prepared to be challenged by aggressive staff who may lock you in. However the older waiter was very professional."
