"After meeting with friends we decided to go for a curry in Keynsham. We have been here before with no problem what so ever hence why we returned. Everything started fine with the senior manager recommending a curry for me instead a phal I like it very hot) I said that would be fine but I doubt I would find the reconnection hot enough. The waiting staff two younger gentleman from being over drinks and poppodoms seemed not very welcoming or even happy which was shown with communication and just dumping food on table. The problems started when our food arrived and two out of 3 dishes were fine. However my dish seemed to have had a cup of sugar added to it as was extremely sweet , it was so sweet I thought it was a joke. After mentioning this I got half way through it) the wittier said fine in a sharp tone took it away and then returned 5 minutes with another curry . Now bearing in mind I had eaten half before I raised issue I could only manage half of this. After asking for the bill I noticed I was charged £16.95 for my curry other two were £11.95) I said to waiter I was not happy paying full price and said I would happily pay £10 . At this point the younger waiters got very aggressive and locked the doors not allowing us to leave , after trying to talk to them and explain my reasoning it was landing on deaf ears. After 15 minutes of arguing the older senior waiter came down and apologies and agreed to the discount for food not being at standard and made the younger waiters unlock the door, after this one of the younger waiters still was swearing at us. We were still hugely over charged , in total the price was £73 for 3 curry’s £11,95,£11.95 reduced one £10), 3 rice , 1 nann bread , 3 popodoms they were adamant we had 6 but I only asked for 1 each) and pickle tray, two bottles of wine were purchased cash separate from bill. I’m sure the management will reply denying or putting blame on us but to be locked in and held because I wanted discount on 1 curry that was very poor, to add we agreed to pay for everything else full price. Advice I would give is check your bill and if your not happy be prepared to be challenged by aggressive staff who may lock you in. However the older waiter was very professional."

"We'd rented a nearby cottage for a week's stay in Bath and had walked by this place several times before deciding one night to give it a try. We'd had a long day of walking all over town and just hoped that we'd be able to find a good place for a meal nearby and, based on the great experience we had there, we considered ourselves lucky to have stumbled in. The place was semi busy the evening we were there, but we were seated in a good sized dining area past the bar and up a small staircase (low ceiling watch your head! and given menus to review (after ordering two pints of Guinness to nurse while we were making up our minds . The first thing we'd noticed was this was not your typical pub menu. It seems that the chef there was a bit of a Francophile, so when I saw that they were offering a bowl of fish soup as a starter with cheesy croutons and a garlic aioli I knew that I had to give that a try. My wife skipped her starter and ordered a serving of cod and prawn paella, while I chose the coq au vin (we agreed at that point to share our mains and we both waited patiently for the food to arrive (it wasn't slow service, but we were very eager to get our food! . Soon after, my fish soupe arrived and it was a nice sized bowl of thick, pureed deliciousness, just the right amount of saffron and garlic yum. It was sad to see it go. Our mains arrived and they were both perfectly prepared. The coq au vin was particularly good, with a sauce that just begged for bread to sop it all up (which we did with relish . We decided to finish things off with an English cheese board that included samples of local bleu, cheddar and the Bath white cheese that they're rightly proud of. A couple of nice chutneys and jams rounded things out and provided the perfect way to finish off this meal. Service was very prompt and friendly, the atmosphere quite homey and, if we lived there, this would be on our list of places we'd visit regularly. Definitely worth a trip if you're in town."

"I booked in summer for a hen party meal for in March (we are not local and relied on trip advisor reviews to inform my choice). A week beforehand I was ask to submit preorders, which I did via email. There was...confusion and no response initially from Aqua but once they’d asked me to resend the preorders on a new email thread it was fine. When we arrived, our table was in the left in a cubby hole on an oval table- very social but bench seat in awful condition and desperate need of repair. It’s right by the door too so it got really cold as lots of guests waiting to be seated with front door wide open (we shut it a few times but it didn’t last). The service was absolutely shocking. It took minutes to receive our first round of drinks cocktails, soft drink and a bottle of wine). One of the drinks was forgotten but this drink then took another minutes to arrive despite multiple prompts to staff (this left one of us without a drink for an hour and ten minutes. The starters arrived an hour after our table booking. They were nice although calamari was like rubber bands! We ordered another round of drinks after starters which arrived minutes later (just before the main courses) at this point we had been at our table for over hours. The main meals overall were poor. The cod meals were good. The duck meals were very fatty and meat was very chewy. The chicken was over cooked and dry. Another table were very rude and had a huge argument in the restaurant and the poor staff were working hard despite a clear staff shortage and lack of ability to keep up with all the tables. We didn’t have a chance to complain/ send food back as the staff were too run off their feet to cope with more complaints. Our deserts were forgotten about despite our preorders. Once prompted, they arrived at our table at (table booked for We didn’t order more drinks as they were taking too long which meant we missed our first booked venue after the restaurant meal. A massive shame as this experience put a dampener on the night and you only get one hen celebration. Eliza is an absolutely incredible waitress and she was our saving grace. She was incredibly apologetic and worked so so hard to try and give us a good experience and provide good service for us despite being continually let down by her colleagues. This waitress really deserves a mention as she is the most hardworking and sincere waitress any of us have ever met. She is an absolute diamond in the rough. We wouldn’t return to this restaurant."

"We thought in the first instance the place seemed lovely, we sat outside, we were extremely disappointed to experience very rude and appalling customer service when it came to paying...we were not aware that they put a service charge onto the bill...we were still talking and not ready to leave when the waitress was hovering over our table and took my husbands card that was on top of the receipt without permission and proceeded to tap the card device when I looked over to see in disbelief she had tapped the machine...I also noticed the extra amount on there I challenged her asking what this was and she said it was a service charge shown on the receipt. I proceeded to explain she shouldn't have just took my husbands card and paid without asking, she kept coming back with it was on the receipt not recognising the assumption we hadn't actually noticed and to not to just pick up the card and pay. She went inside to sort a refund so I thought but as I walked inside to the toilet, I overheard the other waitress on the phone to the manager as I gathered saying we had the receipt for over 5 minutes which I said was incorrect and they were missing the point that you don't just pick up someones card and proceed to pay without asking...they were very rude and offered no apology, just plonked the change onto the table (wouldn't refund back onto the card it was paid on) we won't be going back there again!"
