"We thought in the first instance the place seemed lovely, we sat outside, we were extremely disappointed to experience very rude and appalling customer service when it came to paying...we were not aware that they put a service charge onto the bill...we were still talking and not ready to leave when the waitress was hovering over our table and took my husbands card that was on top of the receipt without permission and proceeded to tap the card device when I looked over to see in disbelief she had tapped the machine...I also noticed the extra amount on there I challenged her asking what this was and she said it was a service charge shown on the receipt. I proceeded to explain she shouldn't have just took my husbands card and paid without asking, she kept coming back with it was on the receipt not recognising the assumption we hadn't actually noticed and to not to just pick up the card and pay. She went inside to sort a refund so I thought but as I walked inside to the toilet, I overheard the other waitress on the phone to the manager as I gathered saying we had the receipt for over 5 minutes which I said was incorrect and they were missing the point that you don't just pick up someones card and proceed to pay without asking...they were very rude and offered no apology, just plonked the change onto the table (wouldn't refund back onto the card it was paid on) we won't be going back there again!"

"First time visit. First impressions weren’t great table hadn’t been cleaned and no menus or cutlery. Apparently they were short staffed. When cutlery was delivered, we were one set short. Waitress said she would get an additional set when she next went back downstairs (not sure why cutlery can’t also be stored upstairs for the second tier of the eatery? We ordered via an app, which was straightforward and the food arrived fairly promptly. My drink was only 3/4 full far too much ice to give the illusion of more juice than there actually was. Some of the portion sizes of the food were disappointing the ‘large’ mac cheese certainly wasn’t. We queried whether they had given us the ‘small’ by mistake! Waitress said she would check and get back to us, but she didn’t. Fries and sweet potato fries not good value for money and barely lukewarm. The sundaes were also disappointing for the price mostly cheap vanilla ice cream with sauce and minimal toppings, not worth nearly £7 each. Originally they only had teaspoons for us to eat the sundaes with I pointed out these wouldn’t reach the lower part of the glass and was told they had run out of longer spoons! They did bring one a couple of minutes later, but the initial lack of an appropriately sized spoon was a little irritating. Ambience in the cafe was quite lively at times and there were only two toilets. In general, the food was nice, but lack of attention to detail and issues with portion size/quality dampened the overall meal unfortunately."

"I attended a baby shower here which included afternoon tea, I want to start with some positives the building is beautiful and is decorated lovely, very instagrammable the patisserie cakes look really pretty! But we experienced quite a few negatives during our time here, we were changed last minute from their other cafe to this one, the room was small and as a group of 24 we were very crammed in. The staff weren't overly great on the customer service front slightly rude in how they addressed customers, but i can understand that they were under pressure on this particular day with our group and other customers, definitely over booked and took on more than they could successfully manage. We also were not allowed in to set up ready for guests to arrive and were told to wait outside until our allotted time. Staff very much made their problems our problems with staff flapping and making comments but not actually doing anything, which led members of our group to clear tables and also remove 3 tables which we were actually using, as staff required them for another group booking... It was all very odd. There had not been a get out time communicated to us prior to our booking and we were very much made to feel that we were unwanted after a certain time. On the food front the sandwiches were stale from being made a lengthy time before our afternoon tea the scones were undercooked. Staff were also not attentive with repeat drinks orders, so actually lost out on custom in this respect. To end on a positive note though staff were apologetic regarding our experience, gave us free prosecco and took money off our bill so i can not fault this. Maybe a one off experience for us but i probably wouldn't recommend or go back, but others may have a totally different experience."
