"Our telephone enquiry about the availability of a table had been dealt with positively and with enthusiasm. When we arrived, however, the welcome evaporated, as the booking had, within thirty minutes, somehow disappeared into the ether. The sense of unwelcome persisted, as the same member...of staff served us with apparent reluctance and evident disgruntlement, bordering on discourtesy. The otherwise quite intimate atmosphere was destroyed by the arrival of a group of diners whose volume had all of the subtlety of a coach party in Benidorm. These behaviours should not detract from the quality of the food on the plate, but they do."
