"I had lunch here on Saturday 29th November 2014, with my 9 year old son (who is not vegan/vegetarian), and my eldest daughter who is vegetarian and slowly becoming vegan. I am vegan and both myself and my daughter find it very difficult to eat out because there are very few places that serve vegetarian food (omelette or salads are the usual choices) and I have yet to find a vegan choice on a menu. So to be able to eat at this adorable little restaurant and have both choices made available to us was terrific. It is a really quaint little establishment, tucked away down an olde worlde alley in centre ville. The decor is retro and my son was intrigued by the posters and various old toys on display. I loved the shabby chic tables, chairs and benches and the whole place exudes charm, warmth and friendliness. The staff were so helpful and always smiling, they spoke English and French, and the service was impeccable. Jess and I had the most delicious vegan curry with a glass of Bio red wine, followed by vegan cheesecake to die for! Jacques had a toasted cheese sandwich, which was not on the menu, but they did if for him especially because he is a fussy eater, and a big glass of Bio apple juice. Jacques especially loved the big wooden fork we were handed that had Good Karma written on it....this was used to go up to the counter to make our orders and for when I paid the bill. Just these lovely little touches went a long way to making it an extra special treat for us. The meal was very reasonably priced and I cannot praise this establishment highly enough. They are part of a small chain, family owned and run, and the next time I am in Caen I will be eating at Dolly's Restaurant and Pancake Night Fever as well, so look out for more reviews from me about these restaurants. Absolutely fabulous....anyone who likes delicious, healthy and ethical eating should most certainly dine here!"

"I had this restaurant on my list of places to try during a 2 week stay in Caen and this was my first stop. I had not realized it was upgraded to 1 Michelin star as my red guide was from 2015. After eating here I am not surprised. It is fully deserving of this level.I walked by the restaurant thinking I would look at the menu and book later in my stay but after meeting one of the owners I was convinced to come in for lunch on a Saturday. I had the 4 course prix fixe menu and it was stunningly good food, beautifully presented and with very pleasant and helpful staff. I can heartily recommend this restaurant. In addition to the 4 courses there were two amuse bouche and two extra desserts so to call it a 4 course meal is underselling what you will get. My first course was pleasant to the eye and also on the palate. Seared scallops in a sauce of spinach and with a sheet of spinach pasta on top. This was followed by a dish with flaky cod and a white sauce. The main course was a cochin (pig) and the chef served a centre cut piece that was juicy and tender along with an outside portion that had a crispy skin and a delicious layer of marbled meat underneath. Several different flavours of foam and garlic accompanied this dish. Finally a chocolate/hazelnut course was presented that was notable thanks to the beauty of the presentation-small daubs of each with a lemon sorbet and sprinkled with chocolate/sugar on the top.In addition to great food, the plates were diverse and really showed off the food. Everything was cooked to perfection.I sat upstairs and I could watch the team at work. Hardly a word was spoken but everything worked like a well oiled machine. I was eating alone so the spectacle in the kitchen only added to the pleasure of the meal. The co-owner/sommelier was super pleasant and helpful and gave me experiences with wine that were completely new (an unfiltered Sancerre that was affected with Botrytis but completely dry). In addition we discussed other restaurants worth visiting in Caen and he was remarkably candid and suggested one I did not know (L'Accolade) that is equally deserving to be in the same category as Initial.Overall this was a great meal and a very good price to quality ratio at 40 Euro for the 4 courses. Definitely worth experiencing this creative chef and outstanding team. I plan to do so again asap."

Totale: 22 euro a testa... A quel costo a volte non mangi nemmeno in pizzeria... Unica pecca, i due proprietari parlano davvero poco l'inglese, ma non è stato un problema. Altra cosa da notare, il posto è piccolo, i coperti non sono tanti quindi il locale si riempie facilmente. E i tavoli non sono molto distanti tra di loro, ma questa è la norma nei locali del genere."

"from the way to [this welcoming and gastronomic city of ] caen for a mission of one month I failed by chance and by default [one Monday ] to "the veranda" that I had known on the occasion of a single banal lunch four years ago. It was before." there right away" as our stephanese friends say it changes in range, with the young couple now officiating. Charming and casual welcome by the charming ( pretty woman) hostess, it starts well. interesting map on paper, renews every week what is rare to caen because if the good tables are not rare there, the Norman chefs are rather brief. menu well-provided lunch menu ( 3 choices per episode) with nice dishes and requiring a real preparation effort, lemongrass knives (6 pieces, top cooked) and fresh soy shoots, followed by pears (noble stuffing) potatoes melting cheese cake aerial ( rarissime because usually it concrete the cheese). 19 euros dessert flat entrance. .. we're pinching to make sure we don't dream. three lunches taken at this address at 8 days interval, tests on other preparations, heart of generous rumsteck and cooking ttb, even if big complicated piece to go out to point. pie of saint jacques à la mango, pie lemon meringue, special "gollie" . really excellent and value for money exceptional wine map still a little short, this address has the means to fidelize a clientele in ability to run a stock of beautiful labels, they have to try. really very beautiful experience, a shame that I'm leaving from caen for a very long bonus moment, a 20/20 musical programming. Thank you for everything and good courage for the rest."
