"It was 2:35pm and service had closed at most other places. We had low expectations in fact, and food would be a positive. With a young family incredibly hungry after swimming, we just needed a friendly face, somewhere to sit and the promise of food fairly reliable. This place did that and more. George gave us with a friendly and professional welcome, explaining the layout clearly and although it could be up to 45min wait for food, the atmosphere was very welcoming and we had the choice of a booth or a place under the tipi near the fire pit. Something for everyone. The fact we could go to the bar and order drinks ourselves instead of waiting for table service meant we were in control of the first part of our experience. This helped with hungry/thirsty kids. Then, we had the option of ordering via the bar or a QR code on the table and the menu clearly stated a section where bits and bobs would come slightly before anything else-again-very helpful for a hungry family. The booths had their own two-tier overhead heating lamps which enabled us to keep warm safely, and contain our children with ease. Our bread starters came fairly rapidly and that brought a smile all round. We didn’t mind a bit of wait on our pizzas because that had been communicated to us from the get-go, and when they did arrive they were delicious. Thank you for a positive experience with professional and helpful staff. Will recommend to others visiting the area."

"This should have been a straightforward order for 1 but ended up anything but. I was shown to my seat but had to ask for a menu when nothing came. The waitress asked if I 'd like a drink before food and I replied that as I hadn 't seen what was on offer I couldn 't. I ordered a bottle of ale that came at the overly warm room temperature having been asked if I 'd like ice with it! It would have been nice to have been offered a chilled option rather than warm or with ice. I ordered my meal, a burger with no coleslaw and an onion ring starter to come with the main meal. The burger arrived with no onion rings but I thought they would follow but they didn 't. The burger came with coleslaw having been ordered without and the chips were bone dry, Terrible things that need covering in ketchup to make edible. If I 'd known I wouldn 't have bothered scraping coleslaw from several of them. The one positive was the excellent burger so it 's not all bad, the main thing was good, it was the rest that let it down. On being given the bill it included the onion rings that I didn 't receive so I had to correct that. The receipt showed 'no coleslaw ' next to the burger so the waitress didn 't forget to tell the kitchen that, it was simply ignored. The 2 waitresses seemed overworked and rushing looking at slips off paper all over their work area. A bit of organisation by management would go along way to helping them there. It 's not all badi f the main thing, the burger, was good. A bit of attention to detail and actually serving what was ordered would go a long way to making his a decent place."

"My recent dining experience at Shapla was nothing short of disappointing and frankly humiliating. It is evident that this establishment places a higher priority on their takeaway business rather than providing a satisfactory in-house dining experience. Upon arrival, we were ushered to a seemingly good table, which gave us a glimmer of hope for the evening ahead. However, this hope quickly faded as we sat there, seemingly invisible to the restaurant staff. No member of the restaurant team displayed any interest in taking our order or even acknowledging our presence. What made this experience even more exasperating was the sweltering heat of the evening. One would expect that on such a hot day, the staff would, at the very least, check if we required any refreshments. But alas, this basic courtesy was completely absent from our visit. It wasn't until my wife and I decided that we had waited long enough, and it was clear that our presence was of no concern to the staff, that they finally sprang into action. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. We had already made up our minds to leave the restaurant, our evening ruined by the neglect and indifference we had experienced. I have dined at many establishments in the past, but never have I felt as humiliated and insulted as I did at Shapla. The blatant disregard for our presence and the lack of even the most basic customer service left a lasting negative impression. Under these circumstances, it is safe to say that I will not be returning to Shapla anytime soon."
