"sadly can't put 0 stars Me and my friends wanted to go to what seemed to be the only good restaurant in Wisbech. But all I can say is avoid at all costs! We wanted to book online but it said they dont accept bookings after half 6. But we had a busy day of activities in Wisbech so arrived at 8:45pm 45 mins before closing time. From the moment we walked in there was no atmosphere at all the restaurant looked well maintained clean and appealing but the staff made it simply awkward. We walked in and there was no smiley faces welcoming us. There was a girl behind the bar who looked at her watch and seemed displeased to have business. Eventually someone came over and showed us to a table. From the second we sat down we were bombarded and felt rushed into ordering. Can't fault the timings on food though starters were out within 10 mins and mains straight after. The food was pretty good can't fault it. During our meal 2 people walked into the restaurant and started harassing us. The staff didn't come over at anytime to ask them if they wanted a table and simply let them walk in, roam the restaurant and disturb us while we were eating. One of my friends is big fan of Tomato Ketchup and made the staff member ensure us that ketchup was coming. But a 30 second task of getting ketchup turned into 10 minutes, having to be reminded twice. The staff was no busy at all, they only had one other table but was not attentive at all and didnt have anything else to do than build good rapport with us. They tried to push us into ordering desert but we declined. Once we finished eating they wasted no time at all in whipping up our plates but never came over with the bill. After sitting for about 10 minutes we decided to go up to the bar to pay. When they were ready to take payment they rushed us into it and stuck a card machine in our faces. Food was pretty good but all staff need retraining and put a smile on their faces. If this is how they train their staff I can only believe this is why so many Prezzo sites have shut."

"On visiting the Rising Sun on Saturday, 26th September with friends, we were greeted by the landlady who informed us in a surly manner of the Covid restrictions, ie. wear your mask when you enter the premises. We all complied and were taken to our table, when we were allowed to remove our masks. The table surface was sticky, but we presumed it was disinfectant, not very pleasant. Unfortunately the tables don’t comply with the 2 metre rule. At one stage the landlady visited and sat down at the table next to us and chatted to the patrons, who she obviously knew, but she had removed her mask and was sitting with her back to us no more than a foot away from our table, which my partner found very rude but most importantly contravened Covid regulations. When we finished our meal we had to comply with the one-way system rule which entailed having to leave the pub and walk outside in an unlit area, through the car park and then enter bar area again. You had to do this trip every time you wanted to use the gents toilet too. When I entered the bar I did not realised that I had to put my mask on again, as I was already in the establishment and I was forced to leave the premises because it was the only way to use the toilet. I was greeted by the landlady who spoke to me in a very disrespectful and aggressive manner. Yes, I was wrong for not wearing the mask, but it was a genuine mistake, as I had only gone to the toilet and was technically still on the premises. But there are ways to speak to people and unfortunately, she has a lot to learn in that respect. I’m 66 years of age, not a child, I speak from experience, having worked in the public sector for over 35 years and I hope that I would never talk to a customer in that tone of voice. To our dismay, her friends on the table next to us totally ignored the one-way system and came into the bar without going via the trip through the car park . Nothing was said. Obviously it’s one rule for one and another rule others. This is the second time I have eaten at this pub and I have spend nearly £250 there. But unfortunately I will not spend another penny in this establishment. I have no qualms with the staff they were excellent and the food was very tasty. But unfortunately the experience with the landlady has left a very bad taste. I understand times are tough for businesses but without customers you have no business."

"having not been to the Woodmans for quite some time to eat, but many times to drink. Our “eating” experience was very disappointing from ordering the food to having it delivered to the table. The appearance alone followed by the flavour pallet was absolutely awful. To start the garlic bread was served on sourdough bread, the cheese overcooked and burnt because it was served on sourdough bread, the flavour pallet was totally an utterly incompatible with the “garlic bread” Now referring to the visual impact of the garlic bread, once placed upon the plate and delivered the table. It resembled something that my dog would excrete after a really rather large meal was totally utterly un pleasing to the eye smelt revolting. We now turn to the main course, my wife ordered Hunters chicken and again the visual impact on the plate was equally as bad as the garlic bread. It looked like something My daughter would’ve excreted in her nappy. When she was a baby the chicken breast was soggy. the bacon was overcooked burnt, the sauce was bitter and the oval appearance was absolutely disgusting. My wife had one mouthful and that was enough I had the gammon which because it was so dry and overcooked the chef had to soak smother it in maple syrup to give it a modicum of moisture, the texture and flavour, was utterly revolting. Upon requesting to speak to the Owner, who was in the bar making himself very obvious to other customers, also seeing the chef pop out looking in our direction, I then requested to the server that I may speak to the Owner or the chef to discuss these matters, but neither of them had the courage to come and speak to me in regards to the above matters I speak from a point of view of being the son of an Owner of a very successful pub for some 25 years, they didn’t have the courage of the convictions to come speak to a customer about the revolting disgusting food that they placed in front of us. Also to add insult to injury, they had the total and utter audacity to want to charge us for this revolting assault on our culinary and visual senses. The only plus point of the evening was the servicing staff, I can’t say that of the management they’re just cowardly, but the serving staff were utterly professional. Very kind, warm and welcoming."
