The Woodmans Cotage

This was our first time visiting with the new owners, we had the carvery which was lovely, had everything you could want! The outside looks so much nicer now it’s been renovated too The midweek menu looks great so we’ll be returning to try!

Wow. Very pleased with last nights meal. We were expecting pub grub and received restaurant quality food. I went for the surf and turf which was exceptional and my wife’s fish and chips were better than most chip shops. Additionally the rooms there offer a great nights sleep

From the moment we walked into the restaurant I was greeted with Happy Birthday by a waitress to the service and the standard of of the food every aspect of the evening was excellent. Our party of 10 had a lovely time, thanks very much, i'm sure we will be returning very soon.

We had an amazing Family Dinner on a Saturday afternoon. 9 of us and two of those were children. Service couldn’t do enough for us . New owner was friendly. Wait staff were attentive. Food was freshly prepared (little wait as a result). Tasty, great portion sizes. Highly recommend.

Had lunch here, long wait for food service poor, when food did arrive in fits and starts overwhelmed with amount and could not cope. ordered large scampi and chips, no chips only five potato skins/wedges peas you could have used as bullets ten pieces of scampi overcooked. have had sunday carvery before and was very good. this was a complete reversal. never again for midweek.

Young enthusiastic team behind the bar and serving, but the menu is dull and boring after a few visits you will struggle to to choose, specials are ok but not anything really special and sometimes remain on the board for 2/3 weeks, pity there are no themed events especially around pay day weekends e.g end of month beginning of month. Could do with a review of main menu been the same for years, perhaps look at 4 menus so they change every 3 months, it’s just standard chili, lasagne, fish and chips, pie, burgers very old fashioned so it won’t draw in new trade for its food or help existing customers who want something a bit different.

We booked this place based upon its location , it was easy to find and we booked two rooms to stay in as a resting point for our journey . Considering its a pub with four rooms the check in experience and knowledge was amazing. The rooms were immaculate and warm , the first time I had been so since leaving my home far south of this. We had a table for six and did not feel the wait between courses was unduly long , it gave us time to digest , drink wine and catch up with old friends. having not been to the Woodmans for quite some time to eat, but many times to drink. Our “eating” experience was very disappointing from ordering the food to having it delivered to the table. The appearance alone followed by the flavour pallet was absolutely awful. To start the garlic bread was served on sourdough bread, the cheese overcooked and burnt because it was served on sourdough bread, the flavour pallet was totally an utterly incompatible with the “garlic bread” Now referring to the visual impact of the garlic bread, once placed upon the plate and delivered the table.
