"Went for a drive Father's day and ended up having a meal here, we rang and luckily got a table for 7pm. On entry to the Celtic Arms it was a high walled gated area with absolutely beautiful gardens which went on for some considerable area, it is a golf club as well and a beautiful golf course with golf buggies opposite the restaurant. Opposite the golf buggies their is a play area that as I recall was fenced off but attached to the restaurant as its also a bar. On arrival to the resteraunt the manager was extremely warm and welcoming and escorted us to a table just outside of the restaurant. During the time we where in the Celtic Arms I observed the waitress in the restaurant constantly clean and spraying the tables which was absolutely so reassuring since the last covid people have relaxed a bit to much. A young lady who was equally as welcoming came and as us for our order, it was a set three course meal at £23.99 which we felt was really reasonable for such a lovely place. Halfway through our time in the Celtic Arms the young lady went home from her shift that had intially taken our order and I pressume we then passed to another waitress. I felt we where out of the eye of the bar but not in the restaurant so got a little forgotten about, although once we called a member of staff to remove our plates these where remove immediately. The starters where delicious with plenty of prawns on the prawn cocktail and the pate had an amazing homemade chutney. The mains where lamb and beef with the whole meal being cooked to perfection and hot with vegetables cooked just right. A lovely touch we felt was the lady out of the restaurant came and asked us if everything was to our liking and was there anything of the meal we would like a little extra off, I dare say you won't get a ton of potatoes or veg but the gesture was very touching and to be honest the meal size was ample. The desert white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake we shared and both agreed it was delicious, and we then shared a cheeseboard which I had got on the three course set menu. The delicious chutney again appeared with varies cheeses, crackers and grapes. Our compliments where left with the manager and the staff with our thanks for serving and delivering multiple resteraunts can not quite achieve. Well done Celtic arms for your polite, professional manner and serving a delicious good quality meal which was ample portioned, reasonably priced in an excellent environment. Would definitely recommend this place it's beautiful and wins hands down on the last 20 plus places we have been over the last few months. We will most definitely be going back again."

"We have been to the Coach Horses many a time after Julian bought it and opened it up again. The food has always been phenomenal and everything to die for. So we decided to book last Saturday and felt it was very short lived....We arrived and ordered drinks. There was no lime juice to go with lager or any blackcurrant just orange which is a no no. One of our party asked for a Malbec and they didn’t have any. The menu was really short and basic. We are mad steak eaters and for a Saturday night we expected off the grill. The Google page with the menu has not been updated so when we saw what was on offer on the grill we booked. So disappointed when we had the menu presented to us as NO off the grill option. Not one steak option or mixed grill available. Also no pizzas available. Had the website been updated we would not of booked here with what was on offer on the menu. We even asked if their were any specials board to be told no. There was approx 5 basic starters, including duck spring rolls, chicken gougons, and a cheese tart which was not a tart at all and just a slab of cheese on a puff pastry lid which one ordered and regretted. We felt the spring rolls were not home made and if there was any duck in them we were amazed it was just like a duck flavour. The chicken gougons again felt as if from a catering pack and not home made. There was a very basic menu of mains which included a whole rack of ribs, fish (to order) chips, cajun chicken, sweet sour chicken, half a chicken or a burger, which we had. There was also a couple more options of vegetarian and vegan. We asked if any jacket potatoes were available to be told no. We asked could we change sweet potatoes to chips to be told they would have to ask. Then came back out and said nothing so one of us hanged there choice and ordered sweet sour instead and a side dish of fresh home cooked chips. The meals came with frozen French fries but slightly thicker than McDonald’s like a KFC. Yet on the side dishes you could have home made chips. We were not being awkward we absolutely love the place but it has slumped in what it used to be. Orders were simple asking if possible to change the fries to real chips and eventually after going into the kitchen and a staff member speaking with chef he accepted this. However when the meals came out they had French style fries on every meal. So they went back except for me I was starving and just wanted to eat. We had 1 of our party who doe not eat chips so asked if the chips could be exchanged for extra salad. The meal came out with frozen style French fries and an extra portion of salad which that small bowl was charged to our bill at £3. Surely if asking for no chips but a bit more salad that should be swapped and not still delivered chips and charge for salad? Eventually the orders came back out with real chips. And we started to tuck in realising one who ordered sweet and sour with an extra portion of chips was still waiting for her food while others on another table received theirs. If this pub had of been packed the incidents could of been looked over but it was a Saturday night. There was 5 of us, a table of 4 behind us, 4 opposite the bar. The conservatory was empty and the bar area had about 5 people drinking not eating. So we felt for a service of so low the deliverance was poor. The starters as said were acceptable but very basic and felt out of a catering package. The mains we will say were nice, two had the half chicken who said it was beautiful and really moist. I had the whole rack of ribs and it was beautiful. Another had the sweet sour and said it was gorgeous and the other had the Cajun chicken who said wow it couldn’t be faulted. So it’s mixed feelings by us but hopefully the coach horses can review their menu. Until it does we won’t be back which is with sadness considering we have been many times. Please accept this as constructive criticism and not negative. We know you are far capable of more than this."

"Walked in and the girl behind the bar (wearing a coat still) didn’t even aknowledge us…. Took our drink order at the bar when she got to us and pointed our table out. I ordered a soft drink, they’re all just cans. My partner ordered a pint, it smelt of wet dog. The menus are big chalk boards by the door, so you have to stand and squash between a door and the bar to read the menu. The menus are big and look absolutely great. Unfortunately it was better on paper than on the plate. Ordered starters, took 30 minutes to come out. I had garlic prawns, they were on garlic bread which was soggy in oil and grease. Not what I expected and it was horrible. My partner had chicken kebabs. It was literally a slither of chicken on a stick. It was so dry one half fell off when he touched it with a fork. Next we both ordered the steak, £30 each. Sirloin steak, all the trimmings, and a sauce. My steak was AWFUL covered in lumps of fat and tasted of leather. My partners wasn’t much better. I ordered the peppercorn sauce, it was yellow, like custard and made me feel physically sick. ‘All the trimmings’ was chopped mushrooms, onion rings (basically no onion just greasy batter) and a bowl of peas (between 2) and a bowl of chips (between 2) I couldn’t even eat mine so they did offer something else, which I declined so they took it off the bill, which I appreciated until we could hear them slagging us off in the kitchen pointing out that the other steak was fine…. Toilets dead flies on walls, and I thought the toilet was grey but it was dust. Restaurant cold, holes in wall, heater next to us splattered in grease and food. Staff ok but need a waitress to take orders and treat it like a restaurant when paying £30 for meals! It’s not cheap, seems like they don’t actually have a clear vision for the place. Menus look amazing!!! Just need someone that can cook it."
