"I had a very bizarre and odd experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was empty and cold, with sterile and basic décor. Despite my sister 's praises about the food being well-priced, I found it to be average at best. The prawn starter was basic and the corn-fed chicken with chips was nothing to write home about. The seasoning was sharp and left a strange sensation in my mouth. However, the saving grace of the night was our waitress, Bruna. She was friendly, attentive, and truly the life of the restaurant. Despite the lack of customers, she made us feel welcome and took great care of us. We ended up staying longer than planned, enjoying multiple jugs of sangria and other drinks. To my shock and disappointment, I later found out that Bruna had been fired for talking too much. This decision seemed unjust and heartless, especially considering she was the only staff member who seemed to care about the guests. The restaurant lacked any music or atmosphere, making it a depressing place to dine. I can 't help but feel that there were racist undertones at play here, as the restaurant seemed to be trying to cater to a specific audience. Treating a young, hardworking employee like Bruna in such a manner is unacceptable. It 's clear that this establishment is not a fine dining restaurant, even though they are obviously straining to be and I am horrified by the way they treated someone who went above and beyond to make our night enjoyable. Shame on them for ruining what could have been a pleasant experience and be warned they obviously have no respect or care about their staff."

"I recently visited The Earl Ferrers and was completely taken by the charm and warmth of this delightful pub. What sets this place apart is not just the cozy atmosphere or the excellent selection of drinks, but the heart and soul poured into it by Duncan, the friendly landlord. From the moment you walk in, Duncan makes you feel like you're part of the family, greeting guests with a smile that's as genuine as it is welcoming. The pub itself exudes a traditional vibe, with a comfortable and inviting interior that makes you want to settle in for the evening. Whether you're there for a quiet pint or to enjoy the lively atmosphere on a busy night, The Earl Ferrers caters to all. The selection of beers, ales, and spirits is thoughtfully curated, ensuring there's something for everyone's taste. Moreover, the food is a delightful surprise, far surpassing your typical pub fare, with each dish prepared to perfection and presented with care. But, it's the personal touch from Duncan that truly makes every visit memorable. His knack for remembering names and faces, along with his willingness to go the extra mile to ensure his guests have a great time, is commendable. Whether offering recommendations from the bar or sharing a story, Duncan's hospitality is unmatched. The Earl Ferrers is more than just a pub; it's a community hub where friends meet, families gather, and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. Thanks to Duncan and his team, this pub stands out as a beacon of friendliness and quality in Streatham. I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for a genuine pub experience where they're treated not just as customers, but as friends."

"As a vegetarian I was really excited about visiting this place due to the rave reviews. My friend and I arrived just as the first sitting were leaving and straight away we were concerned by the utterly overpowering smell of the food as the door opened and how all the restaurant windows were absolutely pouring with condensation. It reminded me of being a student when we couldn’t afford to put the heating on! It was quite disgusting. There is clearly a ventilation issue in the kitchen and/or restaurant area. Although I love cauliflower (one of the dishes on offer that night , I don’t want the smell of it cooking (mixed with all the other veggie food to completely permeate my hair and every item of clothing I was wearing (all had to be washed as soon as I got home, coat included! The food was fine ironically I ordered the cauliflower dish but it was a little uncooked and a bit tough. Unfortunately as well as the damp fug, we had to shout to talk to each other due to a table of 10 women who were shrieking non stop as they enjoyed a pre Xmas get together. The restaurant is small and I know the owners can’t control the noise level but it was honestly unbearable. When they got their vuvuzelas out it was the final straw and we left within an hour of arriving! It’s given my friend and I a funny story talk about as the scenario makes me laugh now but at the time it really ruined our lovely catch up that we’d had planned. Def won’t be returning or recommending."

"Having visited here, whilst a patron of the attached hotel, with my other half I can wholeheartedly say I 'm underwhelmed and unimpressed. To start, we went late, assuming the bar was 24hours as there is 24/7 bar room service. This was a mistake on our behalf as the bar itself closes (relatively early and the room service is a hugely reduced menu. However the first words out of the host 's mouth were we are closing in 15 minutes so you can have one drink Which itself may not be seen as improper, however, we were not greeted, not welcomed, not even hello 'd. The first thing that was said was that we were limited to one drink and the bar closes soon. Maybe I 'm being precious here, but this immediately left a bad taste in my mouth. The next thing was we were shown to the closest table to the door, right next to a larger table whom were clearly well into a good night of drinking (which is great, and I hope they had a lovely night unlike ourselves but as anyone in the trade should know, couples shouldn 't be sat right next to larger parties. Not only this, but the table they tried to sit us on, was directly in the middle of the Hotel 's lobby and the bar. The kind of table you give someone (whilst everything is empty to remind them where the door is. When I questioned if there was another, more suitable table (There were. Many. I was told okay and the genial just walked off. So we found our own table. Next we had just sat down and got comfy, picked up two menus, to be immediately greeted with what can I get you . Now this part I wasn 't even annoyed at, at that exact moment, they had let us know we could only have one and there was an immediate desire to shut the bar. However I wasn 't even halfway through their extensive menu, and we felt heavily rushed. When I asked for another single minute, half expecting at this point to have him stand there and wait, he huffed audibly and announced that when I was ready to order he would also drop the bill to be paid immediately. Again, although entirely rude and unnecessary, we were prepared to be put through a fast track line to allow them to finish their shifts. A few minutes later after trying to catch attention of a few people to allow them to take our order, someone finally begrudgingly came over to take it. Our drinks and bill were raced over to us along with a card machine. No surprise, as London, there was added service charge. 25% of our small bill. I contemplated refusing it, however I knew the bartenders were working hard to make good cocktails and I had no qualms with them, I left it as it was. Then comes the 2 moments that pushed a few bad service choices into just a abysmal experience. After being told all of this, and reminded that the bar was closed after our drinks were made. I watched as the same genial/server ordered more drinks for tables sat near the bar. And THEN watched in amazement as the host allows a new couple in, seats them (in good seats get them menus, attend to them and, when their drinks were taken over, I saw no evidence of a bill taken alongside it. I know the server saw the look in my face and from that point refused to make eye-contact with me again. We then caught someones attention and asked if we could just take our drinks to our room and left. Feeling very bitter about the entire experience. And certainly not how we expected to be treated whilst spending near £200 a night to be there. However on that note, I have to say the Park Plaza, the staff, the room and the food, were utterly excellent. And could not fault a second of any of my experience there."
