"It was the last hot weekend in September and because the weather was so lovely, we decided to go out for Sunday lunch. Having pre-booked the night before, our table had been selected for us, however as it was so warm out, we decided to sit outside. Just as well as little did we know that would be our last opportunity to enjoy the summer sun. Although we do not live too far away, this was only the 2nd time that we had visited The Green Man pub in Bradwell after so many of our friends has told us about it. The welcome that you get as you walk through the door, friendly smiling landlady and bar staff is great. I really fancied a full on English Sunday roast, but by mistake I ordered the hog-roast which came in a bun. After explaining to the waitress my actual expectations, she said, don 't worry, let me see what chef can do and without hesitation or extra waiting, a fresh plate of a full on English roast was brought out to me, and it was yummy. Fresh vegetables not over cooked, great portion sizes and very tasty too. I always believe that it 's how an establishments rectifies errors, (by both customer and staff) that shows their worth, and they did not fail at all. I would honestly recommend The Green Man as a really nice, warm welcoming and relaxing place to have a drink or something to eat. Good service and great food. Social distancing was in place. The pub was running a one-way system so that customers were not colliding at the main entrance. Great idea. Looking forward to going again for another Sunday lunch."

"Had a delivered ‘meal’ for one. Order was short but only by a salad dish so didn’t make a fuss. It was 28.50 plus a driver tip. The food was disgusting. I honestly can’t understand how it could be so bad. I cook curry from scratch at home 3/4 times a week and treat myself to a BIR curry when working away. I couldn’t make anything this bad if I tried! Truly horrendous! Never again! This is my second and last order from HT. The first contained a rotten king prawn but I thought I would give them a second chance. Big mistake! "we discovered this pretty tee room on a jaunt to st peters on the wall in bradwell yesterday. as in time to step back, so nostalgic; the pointed curtains and tablecloths to fit, sugar cubes in glass bowls, an old fashion radio on the wall playing melodies from the 30s and 40s fantastic! the waitress was dressed very smart in black with white pinafore and headdress and she has nothing to do with it when I asked if I could make a photo. we ate kartoffel, mine with garnel in a rosemary sauce (and many garnel,! my partner had served his with thunfish and sweet calibre horns both with chopped paprika (I would have wished a few more but smaller critique! and a pot coleslaw, all served on beautiful porcelain plates. the strawberry milkshake was divine, served in an old-fashioned glass milk bottle completely with straw. we will certainly return and recommend the tea rooms. quirky, picturesque, nostalgic, friendly and welcoming, in a beautiful environment near bradwell am sea."

"Last night for dinner with a friend. Staff are beautiful, decor is cool, but the food was terrible, which was so disappointing. Menu is mostly Greek food, so I ordered the loaded fries, the chicken yeros, onions, Bbq sauce and Tsziki on a large part of the pommes. the whole meal lacked taste and was very blanching the only thing that had any taste was the tzsiki. the chicken seemed to prepare and buy due to the perfect small dice it was in. And it was all cold. my friend had the vegan burger she said was nice, but again her chips were stone cold. we seemed to be the only ones eating so that she wasn't overwhelmed like the kitchen. would not recommend for food, better go to miterspoon, at least the food is hot"

"Lovely atmosphere, warm welcoming staff, great service, lovely food. First time visiting and will definitely be going back again. Good value for money. I'm used to high end establishments but The Fish on The Quay didn't disappoint! Went to celebrate mums birthday. Mum can't tolerate any pepper or hot spices, so the salsa verde with the sea bream was left, however, the rest of the meal was fabulous. I had panko herb-crusted salmon. Again extremely tasty and the accompanying salad was truly fantastic! My son had the classic pizza which was much enjoyed. He is quite difficult to please as has high functioning autism. He also felt really comfortable which is a rarity. I think the friendliness of the staff and the pleasant atmosphere helped him to feel safe. Dessert was equally as tasty and very satisfying. Mum was raving about how tasty the ice cream was which came with her peach clafoutis. My treacle tart was amazing! Fantastic evening which will become one of our happy memories after the pandemic year's."

"We were a party of four and had the vegan taster menu. Two of us were vegetarians and two are also meat-eaters. Nevertheless we all thoroughly enjoyed all the courses- they were fantastic! Interesting and and different and yet all six courses worked well in sequence. There was no feeling that anything was missing. Only argument was as to which was the best course- we all had different favourites. I would thoroughly recommend, not just to vegetarians but to anyone who would like to try something different. And of course you are eating in the great cosy atmosphere of Rubinos. The waitresses too were brilliant- very attentive and happy to talk about the food and discuss what we thought of the various dishes. Only tip is to book ahead- some of the evenings are sold out quite quickly."

"I and my man have booked a table for the afternoon on Saturday of the Easter weekend. the tee was a double firm for my nans 90th birthday and a late mother's look for our moms and my word we're glad we chose here! hayley was so friendly and helpful at my first question and went out of her to fit us and find out if the tee was for a special occasion. the food was absolutely delicious and there was so much choice that is unusual for a afternoon. each of us had a stand with a personal selection of sandwiches, scorpses and cakes that were selected by us from the menu that was perfect as we all have very different tastes. I've never known where to offer this selection! the tee was never in a short supply and we never had to ask for a refill that was such a refreshing experience from other afternoons! the teeroom itself is absolutely beautiful with a beautiful atmosphere that my nan especially loved the vintage memorabilia! the vintage cradles and embroidered serviettes made the whole experience even better! my nan was also very touched by the birthday card she received from hayley and the team, as I did. I cannot recommend the vintage rose enough and will definitely return."

"We absolutely adore seafood, so when we came across a tempting Groupon offer for a seafood meal, we couldn't resist giving it a try. We were familiar with The Jolly Sailor from previous visits to The Basin, where we had enjoyed a few drinks on the seawall but had never dined inside. Our first impressions were that of a traditional pub, with a separate area for dining. We arrived early and had a couple of drinks at very reasonable prices with friendly service. We decided to see if we could be seated early and had no problem at all. The restaurant section was bustling and packed with customers. We were impressed to see a table near us with about 18 guests all enjoying fish and chips, which looked delicious. Our own feast arrived shortly after, consisting of cockles, shrimps, smoked mackerel, crayfish, smoked salmon, whitebait, calamari, bread, dip, chips, and salad. Just when we thought we couldn't eat anymore, a pot of steaming mussels arrived at our table. The waitress saw the surprised looks on our faces and reassured us to take our time. The atmosphere was lively, the staff were friendly yet professional, and we absolutely loved the pub. We are already looking forward to returning in the near future. A big thank you to everyone, including the kitchen staff, for a wonderful evening."

"The Raj was always our first choice for our curry night. We've been away for a couple of years, and our experience of our indian has not been the best to be fair. So following a 30 mile round trip we made it back to the Raj, today and just the smell alone had me salivating!! Wow this is possibly the best indian food we've ever had. There is no way we'll be going anywhere other than The Raj. Service is always fantastic and even at busy times the food is served without delay. I defiy anyone to find a better tasting curry, for the price!! Five stars from us."

"We had lunch today for Father’s Day. Hadn’t been before. The food was good but the service was the worst we had seen in a long time. There was no management presence and the floor was run by young people. We were given our menus, 20 mins later the order was taken. We were given dessert menus and had to ask for our order to be taken which seemed at the time like it was an inconvenience by the look on her face. We asked for the bill and was told someone would be over to take payment, they never came. Our waitress was fairly friendly but the final staff member we interacted with was incredibly unfriendly and certainly not Someone that should be working in the hospitality industry. I work for a chain of 5 star hotels so I’m fairly relaxed normally when I go out as I understand the pressure of service time but this was awful. If you could see the staff rushing around then I think we would have understood but they were chatting at the bar a lot of time and had no knowledge of what was happening in the room around them. We would never return and sadly would tell others we know not to waste their money."

"6x adults, 1x 1 year old descended here 01.02.20 to celebrate a birthday and we had a fabulous time. Saturday night and the place was buzzing always a good sign when visiting somewhere you’d not been before. Staff were great, service was a little...slow in places but everything we ordered was correct and delivered with a smile and always checked if all was well. Spot on, great food, nice place overall and would not hesitate to travel past many other restaurants just to get here. Well done to the owners and staff food great, drinks reasonably priced, and we all came away feeling like our custom was appreciated ."

"I had a lovely evening with my partner and sister-in-law at a charming restaurant located in the oldest building in Maldon. The atmosphere was delightful, and the food was excellent, all offered at reasonable prices. It was nice to chat with the staff, who shared interesting stories about the building and its history, which added to the experience. It's been a few years since my last visit, but I will definitely be returning. This has become my go-to spot."

"Its actually shocking that this campsite promises so much, offers so little and gets away with it.Firstly, the cost is £34 per night. Compared to a site nearby, offering beautifully manicured lawns, heated bathrooms, wifi throughout and a 24 hour warden on site, all with a similar cost, I thought Tollesbury would offer similar options.On their ukcampsite listing Tollesbury offers the following Wifi Disabled friendly Sea views. Recycling optionsNone of this is true. Wifi is only provided at the restaurant which is nowhere near the campsite The campsite is not disabled friendly. The toilets and showers are a very long walk away, in the restaurant and can only be accessed by climbing several stairs. The rules of the campsite also specify that cars should not be parked on the site, only in the carpark next door, again, a long walk The campsite isnt near the sea, it isnt even near water. It has a view across a boat/car park and some ugly solar panels. The campsite doesnt offer recycling bins as advertised, the only bin on the campsite is for ash. The nearest bins are in the boat/car park which is a very long walk awayIn addition to what is listed above the campsite also does not have hot water or washing up facilities. It has 1 water tap which the entire site uses to wash their dishes, their teeth and themselves. It's just a field, with 1 tap, some electric pitches, overlooking solar panels and access to toilets/showers in a nearby restaurant. You need to walk though customers eating in the restaurant to get to the toilets and showersOne of the main issues I have with this campsite is the toilet/shower facilities. Not only are they too far to walk to and accessed only by stairs, they are used by too many people. I purposely chose this campsite knowing it was small, only 15 pitches so that the risk of spread of coronavirus is minimal. Instead the showers and toilets are used by the campsite, the boats in the boat yard, the restaurant and all the boats in the marina.The site is also difficult to find, there are no signs and we had to ask several people before we knew where to go for the harbour master and campsite and toilets/showersWe couldn't find a water/chemical waste area. I dread to know where it all goesI have rang the owners several times to discuss my issues and have left a few voicemails, but they have not responded."

"Went to the Fawlty Towers of the pub world with the intention of enjoying a nice relaxing meal with friends. Very young children collecting glasses, 2 hour wait for food and lying staff is mostly the gist of this review. Arrived at 5.30 with a table booked for 6 and was met by (I assume) the landlady who must have just eaten a bag if lemons stating we could sit down but not order food until 6. One of the party bought an extortionatly priced round of drinks whilst we waited. At 10 past 6 , after being ignored by staff, we had to ask for service. The young chap that took the order was friendly enough but unfortunately as the night went on, relayed a never ending stream of porkies from the kitchen about our meals. Some of our party got starters but we stated we wanted our mains at the same time so we weren't waiting, a simple enough request you may think but oh no, not in this place. After 1 hour we asked about our meals and was told 10 minutes, in another 30 minutes we asked again and yep, you guessed it they said 10 minutes, after 2 hours had gone by we asked again and , blow me down they said 10 minutes. When that 10 minutes had passed we left. At least they got a few rounds of drinks out of us but I really didn't enjoy my 9pm burgerking. Trust me, give this place a wide berth. I did wonder if it was because we were obviously northern and had a Scot with us too as people arrived after us with local accents who appeared to be served before us."

We the 37 Ground Crew Volunteers helping to restore this the only Great War Aerodrome in Europe held a party in memory of our Countries brave men and women who served in this Squadron. Stow Maries Aerodrome was the HQ to RFC Goldhanger and RFC Rochford,(London Southend Airport) in their fight to save London from Airship raids. With the kind support from Rob his Chefs and staff hosted a Hot and Cold Buffet throughout the evening. A letter from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was read to all in attendance with a toast following to 37 Squadron. "We visited on a Sunday lunchtime in early August to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We had booked and were offered a table inside the restaurant (pub? which was all but empty while it was a nice day outside. We asked if we could be seated outside to be able to enjoy the weather and to watch the world go by. We were told very rudely If there 's a table out there then you can eat out there, but you can 't run a tab and you have to order at the bar . We did as we were told, trying to make light of the rudeness. To be fair, it was only one of the staff who had this unfortunate attitude. We ordered drinks at the bar and then our food There 's a 30 minute wait the rude server told us. Dressed Crab, Mussels, and a fish and chips. Turned out there were no mussels left, so we ordered another fish and chips. The food, when it arrive (not as long as 30 minutes was ok, but only ok. My mother 's fish and chips was overdone and dry. Mine was less well cooked, but still rather bland and fish was dry. The whole experience was rather disappointing. We cut our losses and left to eat an ice cream elsewhere. It would hurt any of the staff to crack a smile and perhaps a lesson in manners and customer service wouldn 't go amiss."

"Offered free lollipops for the kids as soon as you walk in, don't be fooled, tough to walk out when your kids are eating their free lollipop (yes I fell for it). Overpriced burgers for the kids and my 9 year old refused to eat the chicken in the burger. I tasted it and spat it out. Phoned them and was met with an agitated man telling me the food is fresh and just cooked, I kmow old chicken when I see it. May be just cooked but definitely been cooked before. Didn't even offer a free replacement. Will be reporting, absolutely disgusted."

"The salad buffet was quiet disapointing as a lot of various potatoes/pasta salads too salty and full of mayonnaise. Only one choice of dressing. It would be nice to see more interesting things like hummus, beetroot, crispy onions, croutons etc. The main's carvery meat was really great and I loved the selection of vegs with it but some of it were left on pass for ages so the yorshire pudding the potatoes all was chewy rather than crispy. The best bit about the buffet was the desert selection! But was so glad we didnt go for the menu a la carte all the plates that came out looked unimpressive and quite expensive considering the size. Every tables around us were sending back their plates to the kitchen"

"We found this pub on the website and read it had been taken over by new management and been refurbished. There are not many pubs like this about anymore such a shame . We visited Saturday evening and was not disappointed the food was lovely plenty of it and very tasty, portions are quite big but that 's not a complaint, but next time we will save room for deserts. The land lord and land lady are very nice and welcoming they take the time to chat to you. The pub is a little way out but really worth going to and reasonably priced, you can have a 3 course meal with bottle of wine for 2 for £45 if you want. there are specials on the board as well as full menu. We will definitely go back again."
