"The tarven is a great place. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I frequently visit there once/twice a week. They have two good snooker tables, free every Tuesdays after 8pm. They also have board games that you can ask for, our favourite is jenga and ludo. The staff, notably Fabulous, Jade, is helping, providing top grade customer services and always has a smile on her face. She catered to our needs, providing us with the opportunity to refill our drinks, informing us on upcoming bar events. And also, she notifies us 10 minute head before the last order of drinks. Overall the bar is great, has multiple TVs around the place; the sports channel is always on. And music playing in the background. I'd recommend for to anyone and everyone."

"My partner thoroughly enjoyed her meal, consisting of a bacon cheeseburger and sweet potato fries, and now considers it her favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, my experience with the truffle mushroom burger and smash fries was a bit different. While I did enjoy the fries, the burger caused some serious digestive issues. I'm not sure if it was the burger or the fries, but the aftermath was incredibly intense. It felt like I had ingested a powerful laxative. I have never experienced such a violent reaction in my lower half before. It was a messy and unpleasant experience, reminiscent of both Niagara Falls and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory combined. On the bright side, if I ever find myself constipated, I now know what to order. It took me two days to fully recover from the havoc that meal wreaked on my digestive system."

"I visited on Sunday 5th November, the pub was extremely busy and I could see the staff were working really hard. Due to the volume of orders there was a little bit more of a wait for food than normal, the staff were telling people when they were ordering so that's fair enough. But to be honest, I don't think a 20 minute wait for food is long at all, I've been to empty pubs and waited longer! Myself and my dad really enjoyed our meals, the food is always hot and great value for money. Thank you for the second week running for your great service and lovely food."

"My family has been coming to this restaurant sporadically for years, but we hadn't been in quite a while. The service was terrible this time. The restaurant looks outdated and the staff didn't make us feel special, they were more focused on their delivery orders. There were only 4 out of 6 people in the restaurant, and they still managed to mess up our order. They forgot onions for the poppadoms that we asked for twice, and then they brought out nan breads with only 3 meals and no rice. We had to wait for 5 minutes just to get their attention. I had to go up to the counter and ask if we could all eat at the same time, since 3 out of the 4 meals were the same. We also had to ask for forks. The food was delicious as always, but the dining experience has gone downhill. I was planning on booking a table for 11 for a birthday later in the year, but after the 30 minutes I spent there, I changed my mind. I felt bad for the server, as I believe the chefs cook whatever they feel like whenever they want. It's sad to see how much the restaurant has declined. I won't be returning after all these years."

"This canal-side one bar pub is obviously a true gem in the local community, judging by the mix of customers that were there when we arrived. My pal and I came for the beer and the very nice barmaid convinced us to stay for lunch. We both chose the Roast Lamb Dinner. Although the Lamb was Steam-Roasted, it was delicious, and very tender; plus there was plenty of it; along with generous portions of Cabbage, Carrots, Peas, Roast Potatoes and Buttery Mashed Potatoes, a Yorkshire Pudding, a separate boat of Gravy plus Mint Sauce as well, it was all very fresh and well cooked and excellent value at £4.99. There is a good range of real ales that we regretted not staying longer to try more of."

"Mr Singh’s is very simply-the best pizza in the Midlands. I have been travelling routinely to Birmingham over the past 15 years for work and pleasure, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality, freshness, and mouth watering taste of the pizzas at Mr Singhs. My learned friend and I travelled via car on a rain soaked Sunday afternoon, calling in for collection whilst enjoying a Netflix and duvet day and were advised of a 30 min pickup time for our two veggie pizzas. We arrived on time and the pizzas were ready, hot and toasty. Upon arriving home, the alluring aromas of those fresh vegetables and soft mozzarella were still prevalent. The combination of quality flour, fresh ingredients, and the perfect amount of spice was as evident from the first bite to the final enjoyment of first class crust. All this for such fantastic value! Mr Singh’s wins my absolute highest recommendation. Enjoy!"

"My wife and I went to this restaurant for the first time and we were not disappointed. We were greeted politely by a well-dressed waiter who escorted us to our table. Instead of placing our coats on the back of our chairs, a waitress kindly took them. The night was made even more enjoyable with the exceptional service, high-quality food options, and wide variety on the menu. To top off the evening, they arranged a taxi for us and ensured we were safely on our way. We will definitely be returning in the future."

"It was very easy to order our pizza for delivery from this restaurant on Sunday, October 15th. We decided to take advantage of their BOGOF deal and ordered their largest size. Unfortunately, both pizzas had little to no BBQ sauce, my pizza was burnt, the chicken was hardly noticeable, and there was a sparse amount of onion topping. It was difficult to determine what exactly was on top of my pizza, and it arrived cold. Overall, this was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. I called to complain and was told I would receive a discount on my next order, but I expressed doubts that there would be a next time after this disappointing experience. The person on the phone apologized, but I made it clear that the pizzas were awful and the worst I have ever had. We will likely go back to ordering from a different pizza restaurant in the future."

"It was late, very late, so we had little choice as we drove into 'the world 's first fish and chip drive through '. We went inside, past tables strewn with an excess of cartons and paper bags. The pricing was very confusing. Posters on the wall exclaimed 10 pieces of chicken for £4.99 yet they were £12.99 on the price list lit up behind the counter. Posters had burgers from 99p yet they were from £1.49 on the neon signs. We both had fish and chips and mushy peas. We fetched them from the counter and they were served in throwaway cardboard boxes and even given to us inside a paper bag, which was a complete waste as we discarded it immediately. The fish was tasteless, chips OK and the peas were not mushy, they were pureed. The whole visit was just awful and we 're not being snobby. We do eat in cheap places now and again but we expect value for money whether it 's The Ivy or Wetherspoons. Why do they use so much packaging, all of which has to be thrown away? Why is the pricing unclear? Why don 't they clear up more regularly. We 'll stop now as we 're starting to feel ill."

"I ordered from pizza point As fancied Garlic bread pizza. When ordering I asked for a medium garlic bread pizza and some chips. I was then told it had to be over for delivery.So I added on a small garlic bread pizza. I then...said it to him... a small garlic bread pizza with a medium pizza and chips and he said yes and repeated. On arrival I was given the garlic bread pizzas but not the chips. When I asked he said it wasn’t on the receipt. So I phoned them and asked why I was not given chips (in a nice way) for a very rude man to say sorry it’s not on the receipt. So I asked if they could deliver some (I’m only mins away) to be rudely told no we are very busy. I then told him how I had asked for them there must have been a miss understanding which I get but the rudeness off the man on the phone!!!! I will definitely not be going here again! I get your busy! BUT don’t be rude! I’m not one to complain but to have been spoke to like that.. it was your mistake! for delivery even though we are only down the road..."

"My partner and I used to order from this restaurant at least twice a week, but lately the food quality has been terrible and the customer service is awful. We ordered a variety of dishes only to find that the rice was undercooked and the chips were hard, as if they had been cooked twice. When I called to complain, I was told that I could get new chips and rice if I came to collect them myself, as the driver couldn't deliver, which would leave the rest of my food cold. They refused to replace the entire order, which had already gone cold. When I asked for a refund, they also refused. Overall, very disappointing experience with terrible customer service. I will not be ordering from them again. If I could give them 0 stars, I would."

"When I ordered my food, the man told me loudly: “Can you hurry up and decide, I am really busy.” He was very rude to me, so I decided not to purchase anything from there. The restaurant does not even cook their chicken wings properly, they put them through a pizza oven and they come from a package. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Instead, I suggest going to Sam's Fish and Chips down the road."

"We have passed this restaurant many times and always say we need try . I wish we had driven past. The restaurant only had 3 tables with people on so not busy. We hadn’t had time to read the menu before the waitress wanted to take our order, we asked for a little more time. Our starters were ok but nothing special and very bland. We ordered king prawn purée and chilli chicken neither looked very appealing. We asked for a break before our main course but plates for our mains were soon placed in front of us. We had chicken tikka saag and mixed balti. They were big portions but were both bland with no flavour at all. The staff were having a chat between themselves at the bar and the few customers in the restaurant were not looked after. A table next to us were also complaining that there food came in batches and not together and no staff were sorting anything out. The waitress cleaned our table and most of what came from the kitchen went back to the kitchen. Then the bill came and for the privilege of having food with no flavour and staff that were more interested in talking to themselves and not the customers we had 10% service charge added. The waitress asked cash or card as she placed the bill on the table as she turned to go and fetch the card machine, seconds later cash or card what did she think we were going to do? I asked her did she think we were not going to pay but no response. This restaurants staff need some training in customer service. So we will definitely not be returning."

"A family member had here recommended to them so along we went to give it a go. First impressions were where do we park? No car park that we could see for the pub but fortunately had arrived at 6 and was able to park outside some houses. (Feel for the people that live there mind as when we left the street was rammed! Went inside and found a great set up with a square bar that you ordered food and drinks from. Lots of large booth seating and the hugest amount of TVs I had seen. All playing the same things though…not sure if this is changed if requested. Quite noisy but it was fine. We were sat at a long table due to the number of us. Ordered drinks which were a fair price, then food which again was largely a fair price. Food came about 20 mins later and was delicious. Between us we had a range of meals, steaks, mixed grills (both the mighty and Indian ones , lamb, kids meals, curry. Everyone enjoyed their food! Chips were over cooked for some portions and probably need to be less chunky with certain foods. Puddings were ok, ice cream was extremely crystallised and not enjoyable. But puddings were a great price at only £3.50 each!! Service was good overall and friendly. Only one girl waiting on tables most of the time we were there…she walked some miles! Could possibly do with more help so that the wait for everyone getting their meals together is reduced. Only things I would say needs really looking at are obviously the ice cream but also the forks! They were ‘bendy’ and moved when trying to cut into food rather than feeling stable. Needs to be sturdier. Also, kids had the same steak knife cutlery as the table was prelaid. Overall a great recommendation given to us, and would return."

"This place has been a new management recently and my first experience has been most terrible. I visited with a friend for an evening catch up after work. We had a nice meal but the lady at the desk (who is supposedly Miss Punjaban UK) kept on disturbing our chat repeatedly as she wanted us out the moment we finished our meal even though more than half of the restaurant seats were not occupied. She lacked basic manners and we felt like being thrown out of a restaurant by someone who didn't known ABC of British manners. Never visiting this place again and wont recommend to anyone who has self respect."

"I visited this pub recently on a Wednesday with 9 hungry hippos!! I was recommended to this venue by a Indian friend of mine. To me that's always a huge plus !! Whilst I have driven past the pub on numerous occasions the recent extensive refurbishment has made it 10 times more noticeable !! Due to us arriving in a large group I had pre-booked and our table was ready and waiting (first gold star). We bought a drink from the very reasonably priced bar and took it round to the restaurant. The two ladies serving looked after us like VIP's and nothing was too much trouble!! We had fresh poppadums bought to us together with 3 dips which were refilled without hesitation!! As a mini group of 5 we ordered £50 worth of food!! Oh dear big mistake!! The other 4 ordered individually and equally they were all amazed at the portions!! At some pubs when they say you get fish pakora on a Large grill then you might get 2/3 pieces!! Not here !! they had to bring a separate plate as it couldn't fit on the top of the sizzling platter!! All the food was good very very well, the naans fresh and tasty as well!! The meat all cooked and spiced well. The chops marinated properly which is always another gold star for me. Another gold star for the meat in the Lamb Jalfrezi, it literally did not need chewing at all. I do hope the owners keep the quality the same and to be honest I have no doubts they will. The butter Chicken was another dish that got the thumbs up from us, the sauce was very very nice and chicken cooked perfectly. I have to be honest we did eat all the food but more through greed than anything else, I rolled out down the road extremely stuffed !! Special praise should be given to Dippy, who I met for the first time but it was like i'd known him a while and to the two ladies looking after us in the bar. Plates were cleared swiftly but not too soon and there was a great amount of chat/banter which is a refreshing change these days!! Did I mention the food was lovely !!?? Oh yeah i did!!! Also if you order over £30 you are given a choice of a free bottle of wine too!! Another plus point and yet again, another gold star. So the reason for my review title is simple, we tend to like to move about to try different pubs but with this place you will without doubt be back again fairly soon!! If the owners/chef remain the same and they food remains at the high standard it was when we visited then they will have a very hard decision to make soon and that's where to put the extension!!!
