"We went to Timberwolf for the first time today and it most definitely won't be the last time! The staff are friendly and welcoming. It's bright and I like the decor. We sat at a table by the window. I had the most delicious chicken and bacon toastie that came with a small bowl of salad consisting of cherry tomatoes, cucumber, salad leaves and dressed with a balsamic olive oil mix. Absolutely scrumptious. My friend had the same. I finished with a naughty, delicious slice of banoffee cake while my friend had a vegan-friendly blueberry brownie. Our hot drinks were good too. The menu is not extensive but as the sandwiches and toasties are made to order they were happy to amend items if required. They also had Satterthwaites pork pies available (for anyone local Timberwolf is in the old Satterthwaites shop. . I would highly recommend this cafe/micropub."

"I used to like the above song (as a reference to this restaurant) until Jamie Oliver ruined it in his advert! Anyone, I digress this is an independent review based my my experience today ordering from Moonlight in South Road, Crosby. I drive along South Road quite a lot, and have always noticed this place as there aren’t a lot of decent dessert shops within my locale. I didn’t actually realise that they did burgers and other similar savoury food choices. My son also noticed it a little while ago when we went for food at a nearby restaurant. Before going there to order, I did consult tripadvisor and was slightly concerned at the amount of negative reviews but remained undeterred as I wanted to give it a go. I must say that my experience does not reflect the several poor reviews posted on this site. I understand a few stem from long waiting times for delivery but that is not always the fault of the restaurant. Luckily, it is close enough for me to drive there myself to order a takeaway. Online pictures suggest the option to eat in although that may be another branch elsewhere it is take out or delivery only. In terms of the food, we all really enjoyed it. I purchased 2 milkshakes for the boys (Nutella brownie and lotus biscoff flavour), chicken popcorny loaded fries, buffalo dippers loaded fries and a Starship Burger essentially a bacon double cheeseburger. The boys gobbled up the fries and their milkshakes, who gave a big thumbs up. Mine was the burger and it was really nice. It’s done in a similar way to Five Guys I’d say as good as if not better than the latter but less expensive. Although not the cheapest, I’d say the prices are reasonable for what you get. I would have said McDonald’s is cheaper but they have also increased their prices lately so Moonlight is definitely a decent alternative. I went at around 4.30 5pm and the service was very good no issues over waiting time either. We’ll definitely be ordering again."

"We had another enjoyable family birthday meal at Bold Restaurant. There were 17 of us celebrating Tom's 24th birthday. The kitchen was busy, so there was a bit of a wait for our meals, but it was Easter Monday. Despite the wait, we all had a great time and enjoyed the delicious food. The staff, especially Wayne and Ged behind the bar, Jo who organized the room for us, and Izzy and Rosie who waited on our tables, worked incredibly hard. A big thanks to the kitchen staff for preparing such wonderful dishes. We will definitely be back soon."

"An unassuming but charming little pub next to a canal and if the weather is kind there is plenty of outdoor seating to watch the swans, ducks and occasional barge on the water and there's a children's play area too. Both our food and drinks orders were taken quickly and each arrived without much of a wait. My steak and ale pie was delicious with the accompanying creamy mashed potato and green beans and peas and a jug of gravy. Yum! Others in my party chose roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding and one chose the small plates option which includes halloumi fries and tasty bites. Everyone enjoyed their choice, which arrived together and piping hot. There was a good choice of pudding such as apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding and several flavours of ice cream. Our servers were friendly and efficient, although one talked me into a double gin and tonic.....she didn't have to try hard though... ! The lovely Lyndsay definitely has the right credentials for running the whole shebang great personality and knows how to treat her customers. Definitely recommend The Running Horses a nice Sunday out for all the family"

"It's very crowded here. It's Monday and the weather is sunny. The staff work hard, but they often seem overwhelmed when customers sit both inside and outside. This issue should be addressed for future sunny days. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with unlimited soft drinks and a variety of salads."

"My wife and I visited the Frank Hornby for a meal and a drink today. It has been a while since we last visited. What a transformation. We used to recommend this pub to friends but not anymore. Just give you the bullet points. To enter or leave the pub you have to walk through people standing at the front door, smoking ….. right next to 2 No smoking signs. Pub was quite empty. A group of 4 men were sitting eating and drinking. You would think they were sitting at 4 different tables as far away as possible from each other. They spoke at extremely high volume and every 3rd word was F . Children were sat close by.! My wife is disabled and went to use the toilet for the disabled……. The toilet looked like it was used by men with a very bad aim…. It was disgusting. Food was just ok. Manager and staff need to get a grip of the lack of standards in this pub. Not the place for a family meal."

"Initially you are hit with dated decor and a damp musty smell. If you’re brave enough to sit down you will be handed a menu covered in grime everything is sticky!! The tables, the seats... the salt and pepper shakers are covered in ____. I had my chance to get up and leave but when the waitress/owner came over to take our order and had a mouth full of food I knew I had to stay and see what happened next. Once we had ordered our food the atmosphere was really sinking in. I found myself frozen and uncomfortable as I didn’t want to move or touch anything. The drinks then came to our table and the tap water had been put in a jug with ice, which was nice until I realise the black lid on the pouring jug was covered in white crust. After pouring a glass I realised the water had floating bits in it almost like bits of lemon (not lemon). The Coke was flat as ____ and at this point I was ____ myself. The food was then brought by a different waitress and she seemed very approachable, presentable and as smiley as she could be working in those conditions. The tuna toastie was dripping with grease. It was bland and no effort had gone into making it however it was warm. The beef baguette. ____ me. The cow was definitely dead, Gandhi’s flip flop comes to mind. The beef was so over cooked and had clearly been Sunday roast leftovers. We left around 3 minutes after the food had been placed on the table and I genuinely felt robbed. You couldn’t pay me to eat that food and sit in those conditions. Avoid this place at all costs."

"I am always on the lookout for independent coffee shops, and StoryHouse is a real hidden gem. While the outside chairs may appear a bit worn, it is only cosmetic. The variety of cakes available is wonderful, with options such as Chocolate Banana Loaf (V), Passionfruit Drizzle, Raspberry Ripple Loaf, Coffee Candied Pecan (V), and Croissant Loaf. I decided on the Persian Love Loaf (LG) adorned with rose petals and pecans, and it was a fantastic choice. For those not interested in coffee, the tea served in funky glass teapots looks enticing as well. I will definitely be returning to StoryHouse again in the future."

"Shocking service. Waited 15 minutes from paying for drinks at the bar to actually getting drinks. They need to ditch the table service. Wasn’t that busy on a Saturday afternoon. "I have visited the Wild Rose a few times now, and I also went to Wetherspoons before this. I have never been so shocked in my entire life. A customer asked for a single/double gin with tonic, no ice, and their husband had a Guinness. The bartender served the drinks beautifully and spoke kindly to the customers, even though there was a bit of a queue. The customers became upset because they felt the drink was not presented properly. One customer raised their voice and mentioned that the drink was not filled to the top and they had asked for an actual lemon. Another bartender stepped in to help and added more lemons, but the customer was still not satisfied. I have never seen a bartender be shouted at like this before. She looked shaken up. I have worked in a few bars before, and typically, gin and tonic are not filled to the top unless customers pay extra, and fruit is charged per item, with half lemon slices counting as one item. My family and I called the bartender over afterwards to check if she was okay, and everything was fine. In my opinion, it is not appropriate to speak to someone with such an attitude and tell them they need proper training."

"Very disappointing visit to this pub, especially after reading the fabulous reviews. Went with a friend for an early tea. To start we had the bacon black pudding stack the garlic stilton mushrooms.....both not good, very thin sliced black pudding not a great sauce either, you couldn 't taste any Stilton in the mushrooms think they forgot to toast the ciabatta. For mains we chose pie of the day We were told they 'd only got 4 portions of the pie of the day left so we thought it must be good. How wrong were we, it was supposed to be steak kidney, but it was filled mainly with kidney a few pieces of steak, all of which were tough. We did eat it, but it was so chewy wasn 't nice. When the barman came to clear our plates we told him that the steak really needed longer cooking, a very rude reply back I don 't cook it, I 'll pass the message on, no apology, or I 'm sorry to hear that, basically he wasn 't bothered. So as my title says......go somewhere else"

"Arrived over an hour late. Shop dont answer phone to give update. Ordered salt and pepper ribs and a chop suey roll. Food arrived cold and dripping in grease. Chop suey roll was stuck to wrapper so all split in package. £3.50!! Wow! Shouldnt charge no more than 50p. Ribs, wouldnt even call them ribs! £6.50 for just bones with pretty much no meat. Any decent sized ribs were just fat.Nicest part of the meal was the onions! Will never order from here again!"

"Sunny day . Decided to sit outside the Bold Hotel and enjoy a light lunch and a glass of wine. We sat and waited and then realised that no-one comes out to take your order . How we could possibly know that is beyond me. Although they serve your meal outside and collect your dishes . Eventually found out that you need to go to the bar and place your order . That was when I encountered the rude female bar member of staff. I spoke her and said Hello could I place an order . She ignored me totally and spoke to a person sat at the bar . Fortunately another staff member (male seeing what had happened stepped in and helped the situation. Then later on when I was placing my order .She shouted across the bar The Manager is behind you if you want to complain. The food was excellent .Rich homemade steak pie and chunky chips Goats cheese tart and salad yummy"

"I booked a table in advance for my friend and I. Booking stated to arrive 5 minutes early which we did. We were the only people waiting but were left standing there for the 5 minutes and just ignored. When a lady finally came over to book us in she wandered off looking for a pen! Finally we sat down and placed our order, which has to be paid for in advance. I asked if we could just order food and order a coffee after the meal but was told this was not possible, we had to order everything in advance. So we paid and then waited, and waited, and waited. No staff came near us and it took ages to actually get somebody's attention to query where our order was. 10 minutes later (we had been there an hour at this point) a lady asked what our drinks order was. Then we had a further wait for our food. It turns out that our order had gone astray but no apologies were made. If we hadn't already paid we would have just walked out. The food is well overpriced and I didn't enjoy mine, maybe due to the stress of getting it. We were offered cake to compensate, which we didn't really want, and persuaded the lady to give us a cold drink to take away instead. Will definitely not go back there again, as a friend and I had a bad experience there previously in September, but I thought I would give them a second chance. Regretted this since."

"Just because you have some young people eat at your place doesn 't mean you can treat them with contempt. They are paying customers at the end of the day! My daughters and a few friends called in this evening and all ordered a meal. My daughter was brought two of the same meal and obviously told the male member of staff she 'd only ordered one (she didn 't get his name as he wasn 't wearing a badge). He plonked the food down, rolled his eyes and said angrily you 'll have to eat it, I won 't be taking it back . This is not how to speak to a paying customer, I don 't care how old they are. She paid via the app and double the money was taken. She called me to ask what to do but I 've told her we will sort it with the bank. I wish I 'd asked her to get his name. He then brought another plate for my daughters friend and he told her the plate was hot (he held it with a towel) as he passed it to her in her hands, how strange! Yes it was too hot but thanks for not putting it on the table! I will be calling head office about this. The whole experience was humiliating for my daughter, she eats out quite a lot and knows how to speak respectfully to people. I know it 's only a cheap place to eat but that doesn 't mean the quality of customer service should be this bad. If your staff don 't want to speak politely maybe they should be doing a job where they don 't have to directly speak with paying customers."

"This was a great restaurant. The food was outstanding I personally had the curry which was out of this world. We were a large party so they seated us upstairs. It was a bit small as there is just one large table up there, but it's perfect for the party needs. The menu is varied, full of great choices, and everything we had was made fresh to order. I lived in Southport for a number of years and never went here. What a mistake that was I would recommend anyone to visit here. The staff are AMAZING and cannot do enough for you. "Ordered 3 breakfasts and a crepe, after waiting an hour and a half for the food, they came cold. I was charged different to the pricing on the website, however they said the prices have changed and they have to wait for the man to update them online. The breakfasts arrived cold, I’ve had to warm them up and they weren’t even nice. When I rang up to complain, alls the girl on the phone had to say was “sorry when they left the shop they were warm” alls they offered to send a new breakfast out but once again they can’t guarantee it’ll be hot. Think the food was disgusting and as was the service I received on the phone. Even the dog turned his nose up at the sausages so says it all. Furthermore, paper straws need to be introduced as there not helping with all the plastic waste."

Overall, my family and I had a pleasant experience, but there are a few points I'd like to highlight. Firstly, I must commend the quality of your beverages. I tried the White Chocolate Strawberry Hot Milkshake for the first time, and I was thoroughly impressed. My brother also enjoyed his Salted Caramel Coffee Hot Milkshake. Both were delicious and represented good value for money. However, I'd like to address a minor point regarding the closing time policy. As the evening drew to a close, we were kindly asked to finish our drinks. While I understand the need to close up, it would have been appreciated if we were allowed to savor the last sips of our beverages before departing. Allowing customers to finish their drinks, even after closing time, would enhance the overall experience. Despite this, I want to express my gratitude to the staff member who provided us with hot chocolate cups so we could enjoy the last drops of our milkshakes. Her kindness was appreciated and exemplified excellent customer service. In conclusion, our visit to Costa Coffee in Stockport was enjoyable, and we look forward to returning.
