"This is the second time we’ve been, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as our first time was not great either. We arrived and the closed sign was displayed in the door, but we saw people in there so went in and asked if they were open. They were, so we stayed. And waited to be seated. And waited. And waited. And waited. Bear in mind there were only 3 tables occupied and no other customers waiting we waited 15 minutes to be seated. We had a baby with us, no offer of a high chair and the staff member who showed us to our table left super quick before we had sat down or had a chance to ask about a high chair. We ordered an ice cream sundae, a milkshake and a hot chocolate. We also asked for some hot water to make up a bottle for the baby. Which was provided in a glass. Not a mug, a latte tall cup or any other hot drink receptacle, but a drinking glass... the ones they serve the cold drinks in. Painful to carry but we didn’t want to wait even longer to feed the baby. The hot chocolate came after 5 minutes which was quick. It was ok, nothing special. 30 minutes later (we were 1 of 4 tables, and 1 of the tables had already received their food before we ordered) we received the sundae an shake. I counted at least 4 staff members and it took 30 minutes for a small sundae and a shake. The sundae was ok, the milkshake was ok. Didn’t meet expectations given the price and the wait. In summary: terrible service, mediocre desserts, not expensive but not cheap either."

"This place had been recommended to me by a close friend she rates it highly. It is in a quaint village setting, in front of a huge green area. We went for Sunday lunch there was good choice of meals and roasts though no poultry roast option so we chose lamb and nut roast. The meal came quickly, the dining area of this country pub is very nice, although felt pads on the legs of the wooden chairs to avoid the constant screeching of chairs across a hard floor is just one suggestion to improve the ambiance. The food was very good staff were attentive. We didn't want the cauliflower cheese veggie accompanyment so we should have really gotten more of the other veggies as compensation, but thats a small quibble. More gravy came without hesitatation when requested. Food was hot and fresh, the nut roast was delicious and my partner's lamb was very nice. We waited for 30 moniutes before having dessert the menu is extensive so save some room and the desserts was very good, the brownie far outweighing the crumble, to be fair. They seem to specialise in homemade icecreams and various types of brownies so opt for these, I think... Desserts were well received. We moved into the pub area with our drinks an excellent glass of Rioja for £4... and read the Sunday papers there. The only downside was the constant door slamming of the staff tooing and froing to the kitchen which we asked to be adjusted but the young female waitressing staff just shrugged and said they couldn't do anything... That was the only real complaint something does need to be done about it as it ruins the atmosphere and is very irritating. A very nice place to eat and spend a Sunday afternoon."
