"..I’ve visited EV and TAS quite a few times and today chose EV because of the garden setting in the sunshine. I was with friends who hadn’t been before and I was confident they would like it and the menu as there was a good choice of items , and I’ve had good meals in the past. However the host who also served us had a miserable attitude. We were polite and always said please and thank you , He never smiled or showed any sign of empathy or customer service skills. Thankfully half way through the service more staff came on duty and when we required anything we received smiles and thankfully they had a happier attitude. At no time did our server ask if we enjoyed the meal and we just felt he didn’t care if we were there or not. We had all worked in customer service areas from restaurants, hotels and airlines, and know that no matter how we felt personally our job was to give good customer service. Having a positive happy mindset towards the customer certainly makes the customer feel at home , welcome and loyal. In turn that can help improve your emotion and attitude knowing that the customers appreciate your efforts. I sincerely hope the management encourage and value their staff and promote good customer service as it then benefits both customers and staff. Although we enjoyed our meal and the surroundings we left feeling sad that this guy wasn’t happy with his job and just hope he finds some positivity to overcome his apathy. I’ll still return to EV and hope that it was just a bad day for him and that we see a happier contented guy next time."

"Sunday lunch with my daughter. We arrived early but were able to sit at our table straight away, nIce pub with friendly staff. We ordered roast beef and the porcini roast pork washed down with a glass of Pinot Grigio and a...**** Mary Food arrived suprisingly (maybe suspicously) quickly and it looked impressive on a large palte with the biggest yourshire pudding ever, could this finally be the best roast lunch I have ever had out? The proof would be in the eating. The yorkshire pudd was good, couldn't fault it, it was large, crispy with enough lightness without being a puff of nothing. I ahd large generous cuts of beef but it was shrouded in fat which I had to ask if I could have a small plate to cut off and put aside. The beef tasted average and one slice was chewy and had to be put aside. Not a great start. The veg was shredded cabbage, very nice, rather lumpy swede; I'm not sure if was being served diced or mashed; and a large sliced carrot which promised to be good but was in it's attempt to be crunchy but was just hard and undercooked. Finally the deal braeker...the roast potatos, just rather on the large size and dissapointing. Tasted old and very pre-cooked. I have yet to sample a good roastie in any of my eat out roast lunches; Chefs and cooks should take note that you need a floury potatoe and not too big and need roasting at high temperature after par boiling and fluffing on the pan. Anyway, it was average and the oub surrounding was nice and the drinks reasonably priced."

"Amazing!!! I am Peruvian, and this place reminds me of the restaurants I used to go to with my family when I was young! I've been a few times so far, including once with a large group of people, and we've always been easily accommodated and treated with smiles. Here are my reviews of some of the dishes: Lomo Saltado (beef stir-fry with chips): This is probably my favorite Peruvian dish ever; it's my go-to comfort food. The flavors are excellent. The dish is very generous, and I was able to happily enjoy my leftovers the next day! Anticuchos (beef heart): My boyfriend tried this dish for the first time ever, and he really enjoyed it! It might make some people a bit squeamish, but it's honestly a delicious dish that goes excellently with some boiled potatoes. Ají de gallina (spiced/creamy chicken) Another one of my comfort foods, this was delicious and was a VERY generous portion. Excellent to have half in the restaurant and use the rest the next day for sandwich filling! Yuca a la huancaína (fried cassava): Delicious. Perfectly fried yuca with some dipping sauce. I only wish there had been more! Ají sauce (green, spicy sauce): I didn't have any of this, as I am horrid with spicy sauces, BUT my Indian and Persian friends who came fell in love with this sauce so much that they requested to take some back with them after our meal! My one critique thus far is with the drinks: I haven't been able to try their chicha morada yet, so I'm not sure if it's homemade or from a mix or from a bottle, and when we ordered Inka Cola, we were given Andina Cola (really similar, but technically not the same). Small points to mention, but important to know regardless! I will say that our fruit drinks were freshly made and very good! Everyone who works here has been really lovely and friendly, and every time I've been there, Peruvians have been eating there. If that's not a glowing review to try it for authentic Peruvian food, I don't know what is! I honestly can't wait to go again and have other dishes on the menu!"
