The days are getting darker. To top it all off, it was wet and cold enough for gloves when I made a trip to Silk Road A Chinese restaurant in Camberwell. This joint had better

amazing xinjiang restaurant in camberwell! the soup noodles and spits are the best dishes of the night. I can't expect to go back and try other dishes. the price is very reasonable. we had 4 people, 6 dishes and 3 beers in the night, the bill was only 50 pounds!

Silk Road has the rudest staff. I cannot believe how rude the staff here are. DO NOT GO HERE if you expect good service. The waiter shouted at us for being 7 minutes late and then asked us to leave. I cannot rate the food as we were effectively banned but the staff have hideous attitude and I would not recommend you go here! I am usually very easy going but this was the worst experience ever!!

Surprisingly tasty little gem in south London. Plenty of fast food places on this road but this place was a stand out chinese restaurant. The noodles were hand made and super tasty and the charcoal grilled meat and fish skewers were fantastic. I advise you to pre book or be prepared to queue on a Saturday. Well worth the wait though. Only in London do you get to try food from a provence different to the normal.

some restaurants are so talismanic that no critique in my part or any other probably refuse their popularity. in london, a city somewhat unfair to the one life costly to be that maxim is the strongest on cheap expensive restaurants. few sit-down restaurants are as cheap as the silk road, a Camberwell institution where my five eddies and I are in a stupor for the princess sum of only £20 – including softdrinks. that is nothing to seduce, but – as with all – the price is not everything.

Silk Road is an unassuming place on Camberwell Church Street, with more of a café vibe than that of a restaurant. Having heard reports of hour-long waits mid-week we booked as it was a Saturday, and good job as the place was absolutely packed. Good sign!. Silk Road focuses on culinary favourites from the Xinjiang province in North-West China, which demonstrates other Asian influences such as kebabs and dumplings, but with Chinese spicing – LOTS of chilli, as well as heavy cumin and star anise.

my friend and I came to have a chat after a long time that has not seen each other. I have booked and was glad that I did it! it was full of students (like ourselves,) but our table was clarified and we had a lot of space to chat. eating is amazing, though a little sharp for my friend. I am more of a pour chili on everything person. we had a selection of vegetarian joys that surpassed everything they had taken from their average Chinese. all this and our beer proved to be amazing cheap! I come here regularly.

big plate chicken is really terrible! it suspects to be the signature court of xinjinag ciusine and it turned out to be totally wrong - the court was very tasteless, with mix and super dry huh. we came all the way for this court and can no longer be disappointed boiled lamp is in good part, but again, is wrong and a bit of mix as well as lamb skewer and homemade cauliflowers are pretty good if they want to taste XinJiang cuisine that I really recommend, then here is the wrong place. if they want to have a what ever-take-away style Chinese food is just a bare road and

From all the reviews online, I had high expectations but Silk Road is SO over-rated. I'm Chinese and understand the culture and food, so I was not expecting particularly friendly service but the manager was just rude, unwelcoming and gave a bad impression from the start. Other staff were timid but polite. The Xinjiang lamb shish was chewy, half of it was chunks of fat, and the portion was tiny. The same goes for the Ox tripe shish not even worth the £1...
