"My friend is disabled at the moment, due to illness, when we looked for somewhere that had allergy friendly as my friend is gluten free. We asked the young lady if there was anything available gluten free for lunch which was around 1.15pm.she said no nothing oh we have a chocolate brownie, as my friend had struggled to get in she didn’t want to try anywhere else so sat with a cake for her lunch, I asked if it was possible to have a salad, told no we don’t do salads. I asked for a side salad with my sandwich to be told it had to be In sandwich.very dissatisfied with today I was taking my lovely friend out and also she was trying to cheer me up from my husband’s bereavement."

"While visiting family I went for lunch with my Mum and Sister. We normally go to The Star Inn in Rainford but we arrived to find that they don’t do food on a Tuesday so the barman recommended trying The Derby (a pub none of us had been in). On walking into the Derby the first thing you notice is the delicious smell of food and the faces of smiling, friendly staff. The two main rooms were busy but still plenty of tables to choose from in the bar area. We were given our menus and the drinks order was taken almost immediately after sitting down. The menus (main menu, lunch menu, specials menu) offer a wide variety of meals to suit all budgets and tastes. I had the Spanish Tortilla topped with Brie and Red Onion Chutney served with salad and a side of chips to share. It was absolutely delicious and I particularly liked the Brie on top which I’ve never tried on a Tortilla. The chips were perfectly crispy. My mum had the Strips of Chicken Breast in a peppercorn sauce with chips, rice and veg. She throughly enjoyed her meal although the large portions (especially of chicken) proved to be too much for her so they kindly put the remainder in a foil container to take home. My sister had a very light lunch of Tomato and Bell Pepper soup (and shared my fries) which she said was the best she’d ever had and she loved the chips too. We were all extremely pleased with everything about the Derby including the beautifully kept and very clean ladies toilets. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning."

"Visited Galleria (Rainhill on Friday night, not our first visit as we are usually very happy with the quality of food and standard of cooking provided. However, we were hugely dissatisfied on this occasion. The 3 course Christmas meal was more expensive than advertised on the website! (website misleading. The main course and dessert were very disappointing with regards to portion sizes and food temperature, for example the pork option consisted of one slice of meat, one small carrot and one sprout (not joking and was luke warm. Christmas pudding not what you'd imagine, a small thin square with some sauce ! and was also lukewarm. Chocolate pudding option was remarkable for the fact that one of our guest received a much smaller portion than the other. Should have complained but did not want to cause a fuss or embrasment in front of our guests. Terrible value for money, in hindsight should have gone to the Cookhouse Carvery at least you know its consistent and good value for money, no fancy menu descriptions!"

"My wife and I hosted an evening dinner for her 80th birthday at The Star Rainford last Saturday night. The Star catered for meals for 32 people main meals, starters and puds.and were enjoyed by all our guests. All the meals were served at the same time and all were hot and tasty just as you'd want. The staff on the night were without doubt brilliant down to the boys and girls serving meals and drinks and the front of house ladies. Emma, Lisa, and Chris who were the perfect hostesses all night and are so very friendly and have always been very kind to my wife. The food served was so numerous to mention but as a regular customer at the Star I can say that the food is excellent with a good choice of meals. My daughter with the help of The Star decorated all the tables to create a lovely and warm atmosphere. If anyone is considering were to hold a celebratory dinner this is the place to go food excellent, wine good and very reasonable plus Wainwright's beer. If dinner is not to your taste The Star do a fabulous lunch special with all the food you'd want Fish and Chips', lunch time mixed grill, and wonderful steak pie to mention just a few. All in all a fantastic restaurant run by wonderful people."

"We decided to try our luck at Amans without a reservation on a busy Saturday. The host was extremely welcoming and went out of his way to find us a table in the crowded restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic, with one of the best curries I've had in a while. The service was outstanding and efficient, and the place was impeccably clean. The prices were very reasonable, especially for a restaurant located on a main street. The bustling atmosphere added to the experience, with lots of laughter and conversation filling the air. Parking may be a bit of a challenge due to the location, but don't let that deter you. We will definitely be returning to Amans without a doubt."

"This is our 2nd visit as a family and it’s our new favourite place. We will make the 20 minute journey regularly as it’s way better than anything else close to us. Excellent food at very reasonable prices and the staff are simply amazing, so professional, friendly and helpful. The owners clearly value customer service and know how to run a restaurant properly. "We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Even though it was quiet, we didn't mind. "I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews but Unfortunately I can’t say I very much enjoyed my first and potentially last trip to Sabroso. Firstly let me say that we got the food as a takeaway. Now, I’m not a big fan of writing bad reviews. I would rather write a review praising the establishment to allow others to try as we have. However, we were mislead by the reviews and feel that maybe we caught them on a bad day. Nevertheless we had a bad experience. We started with some soft chicken tacos which *spoiler alert* were the best thing that we tried. The flavour was great. The meat quantity was perfect. A great little starter if you’re willing to share. I was getting really excited at this point. However, it’s a slow decline from here. The fried jalapeños were not great. Felt and tasted manufactured if I’m quite honest and with the chilli dip to go with it, which was most certainly ‘crucials extra hot chilli sauce’ that you get in most takeaways these days, I was feeling slightly let down. You would think a Mexican/ tex mex restaurant would at least make a good chilli sauce. For the main, I had a Beef Chilli burrito, which I asked to be made a little spicier, and it Was flavourless. Mainly tasted like cheese and was packed with rice, which I understand that’s what a burrito should be But there was barely any meat/ chilli. I was thinking if my chicken tacos were that tasty I can’t wait for the burrito but it was bland. No flavour to the Mexican rice and there wasn’t any spice to be found. I was very disappointed to say the least. The missus had chicken enchiladas and had this to say: large portion with a substantial amount of chicken but could only really taste tomatoes. Too saucy and rather flavourless. The onion rings and sweet potato fries tasted like they came from a packet. Overall a solid 2 out of 5. I had high hopes from the reviews but it really wasn’t much to shout about. Nothing really Mexican in sight except the tacos. Do not let our review stop you from trying the food for yourselves and maybe you’ll have a better experience If you eat in the restaurant rather than a takeaway. Enjoy yourselves. Nick and Becky."

"An easy and short walk from St Helen’s World of Glass. Had afternoon tea. Booked in advance. Just as well as Lily’s was busy with all tables occupied when we arrived at 13:00. Very welcoming. Informal and efficient. Had afternoon tea: tea, selection of sandwiches, some deep-fried snacks, salad, and chips. Sandwiches plump with fillings. Fried bites added some lovely variety. Chips done perfectly: golden; crispy outsides; hot, fluffy insides. Tea was leaves with a separate strainer and porcelain cup and saucer. Earl Grey was richly flavoured. Regular was full flavoured. Cake selection was scone, cream, jam (without bits), mini Victoria sponge, mini fairy cake, Viennese-style multi-layer slice, maybe another one or two as well. Too much cake for me so it was nice to be able to take some away. A very good experience and definitely recommended if you’re visiting St Helen’s."

"When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly dog called max who couldn’t have been more happy to see me! I went to order my food at the bar and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. I ordered the homemade steak pie and when it came to me I was told that it was incredibly fresh out of the oven so I was told to let it cool down. This was one of the best pies I had ever eaten! When I left I had even been greeted by the same dog who I found out was called max so I gave him a treat and left. A great restaurant, would definitely eat here again!"

"I have just been to Caffè &Co and bought a light breakfast. £6.45. And £2.50ish for an americano coffee. Quality of the food is second to none. Clearly not using cheap produce, everything tasted lovely. My gripe is portion size. 1 sausage (very thin) 1 piece of bacon (very small) 1 round of toast, half a tomato, a small scoop of beans and a fried egg. The coffee cup was also very small, two good gulps and it was gone. Yes I know I could buy cheaper elsewhere and it probably would not be as nice. But I'd be happier getting more for my money."

"Tried to book for 5 friends for a Saturday afternoon. Was advised we could not book. Arrived at 3.50pm and told full. We asked how long the wait was and told approx an hour. Sat outside in the cold in a gazebo with 2 heaters. After over an hour of checking, no sign of an indoor table so we decided to eat outside. We were huddled around a small table so took another small table so that we could eat comfortably. A really rude manager flew over and told us we couldn't have the table. We explained we wanted to eat and other people had done the same. She wasn't interested and removed the table embarrassing !! I asked for the bill and she told me the card machine was inside. We went a couple of doors down to The Blue Mango and had impeccable service unlike the dreadful attitude of the manager in the Wine Club."

"Went without booking on Tuesday 24th although quite full we were given a table. When we go we usually have a shared starter followed by the sea bass. However we opted for the special offer of a mixed cold mezze enjoyed the flavours although I didn’t like the one with chicken in it. We didn’t wait long for the main course of chicken, lamb Adana kebab, lamb chop rib chicken wings/thighs served with a Turkish salad rice. Again I wasn’t keen on the chicken wing/thigh the lamb rib was rather fatty (fine if you like fat). The rest of the meat served was lovely. Main issue for me was the rice (cold) salad which didn’t taste as nice as I remember. Our server was lovely made us feel welcome both she the other server managed to see to everyone’s needs despite being unusually busy for a Tuesday We also had an Efes double Bacardi diet cola, a bottle of the Turkish red wine followed by Turkish coffee"

"We ordered delivery from this restaurant and it arrived later than the estimated time, which wasn't a big issue for me. However, our curry sauce was missing from the main meal so we had to call to have it delivered separately. Later, we realized that our naan bread was also missing, but we were told to mention it next time since they had already delivered the sauce. The food itself was delicious, but it would be great if they paid more attention to the accuracy of the order before sending it out for delivery. Delivery service was good overall."

"Just want to say thankyou to all at Kozi, we had a suprise meal on Friday for my mums 50th and it was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were so friendly.
