"We visit the lovely farm shop approximately twice weekly, the farm shop is excellently well stocked, with a fruit and vegetable ‘cart’ that is a lovely riot of colours, a very well stocked cheese counter, friendly and helpful butchers. However for me the absolute best is the truly artisan bakery! Freshly baked loaves, rolls, baguettes and pastries, the cake display looks absolutely scrumptious . However someone really needs to take a serious review of the coffee house. The staff are helpful and friendly and the ambiance is lovely, overlooking an apple orchard. We took the family for breakfast recently and both myself and my son ordered smoked salmon with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. My order had a huge mound of brown tinged smoke salmon hidden by the poached egg that was absolutely horrible (so bad I couldn’t eat it). My son thankfully had pink, fresh smoked salmon. How can your chef even consider to serve? I only fortunately ate one forkful. I also am at a loss as to why the cake display in the coffee shop is so boring and drab when you have a fantastic range of delicious freshly baked cakes in your bakery next door? Why do you sell stale (previously frozen) scones when you have a bakery making delicious cakes? We have decided we will continue to shop in your farm shop, but will sadly no longer visit your coffee house."

"My Saturday was very exciting as my family and I went to visit the Hop Farm as many of my friends have recommended it. My friends have also recommended me to visit this Italian restaurant which is beside the farm. The lively environment was bright and clean, The service was ok, however as an Italian restaurant you expect the classic Italian pasta dishes we all know and love. My son ordered a spaghetti carbonara, and I ordered a four cheese Penne pasta unfortunately for the chef and the restaurant I have been in the business for just over 20 years, working in london for many different places learning to make said carbonara from scratch among other dishes. I’m expecting a carbonara with an eggy creamy sauce with the perfect balance of moisture and the traditional flavour of Guanciale bacon but I receive a rather disappointing smoky bacon and scrambled eggs with aldente pasta. My pasta was well cooked but for the price it was very poor ; poor presentation and the amount as if it was a starter size. I do understand the business matter but it’s important like a company to make an effort when it comes to customer satisfaction. By the way they were very keen on preparing the carbonara a second time although we didn’t only receive a clone of the previous carbonara but an angry chef to see who had complained. I’ve returned to London, my friends keen on how my experience was in the Italian restaurant I had to say the truth... don’t go there. I do understand I am just a simple client and this doesn’t affect your company but with the money I payed I could’ve eaten much better."

High Rocks Lane, TUNBRIDGE WELLS, United Kingdom

"This place is a bit of an enigma! The location is beautiful with High Rocks behind it and the steam railway running at the bottom of the garden. Indeed the gardens themselves are beautiful. That's about where it stops. We went there for a drink and bar snacks with the intention of watching the trains on the railway gala day. Arrived abut 1230 quite expecting the place to be busy as I thought other people might have the same idea. Place was deserted! Ordered drinks and sat in garden. Started to rain so moved inside and decided to order bar snacks. Very limited and not particularly appealing menu. Basically baguettes or sandwiches. Suppose they want to force you into their restaurant! Ordered sandwiches which when arrived were wrapped in cling film and in a paper bag. Had obviously been pre prepared and stored in a fridge as they were ice cold. Served wrapped in cling film no garnish. To be fair the sandwiches were well filled but the presentation left much to be desired. Most of the staff appear to be Eastern European. I don't have a problem with that but they do need to be able to communicate in English. Toilet facilities are totally inadequate. Heaven knows what it's like when the place is busy (is it ever busy? It is a real shame because with a little flair and creativity it could be made a beautiful venue. In common with the other people who have left less than satisfactory reviews about this place it seems to suffer from greedy owners."

"After an evening flight into Gatwick and the drive to Pembury, it was just after 8.30pm, when we finally got to go to Mallows for our evening meal. There was quite a lengthy wait at the waiter station/front desk as the staff tried to rectify...some problem with a group of men who had just dined. Never mind, these things happen, however the 2 staff members were both quite engrossed in the problem and seemed unaware that we were waiting for a table. Finally we were seated and left with menus to choose our meals. After calling a passing staff member to order a drink (we had not had any lunch or anything to drink since 11.30am that morning) and no-one seemed to come near us, we eventually got to quench our thirst. The next problem came when we placed our order for dinner. My husband had seen the Sea Bass on the menu and as that is his new favourite fish, he was happy. I noticed the Chicken Tikka Curry and that appealed to me as husband is not a curry lover and when we are out I can indulge my passion for spicy foods. Our waiter took our orders and disappeared through the swinging door. Before long, he re-appeared with the message that unfortunately, there was no Sea Bass left, would you like to choose something else Husband perused the menu again and came upon his 2nd favourite food, Lamb Rump. He was still happy and we eagerly awaited our dinner. The kitchen door again swung open, and our waiter then informed us that there was no longer any lamb rump available and by the way, the Chicken Tikka was also unavailable. After perusing the menu again and subtly suggesting that he tell us what WAS available, we made our choices which were far from what we felt like. All in all, the presentation of the food was OK what can you do with Battered Fish Chips and 1/2 Roasted Chicken anyway and not the food we would normally choose at a Restaurant."
