"Ourselves and another couple stayed from Monday 25th Thursday28th September, we booked bed and breakfast. Breakfast gave a good choice and was cooked to perfection. The evening meals were so good, (with great variety of choice and everyday specials) that we came back to the hotel to eat each evening. Testament to this was that the place was full of diners each night we were there. We have nothing but good reviews for this little gem of a place. The new hosts had taken over the business about seven months ago, and they and all of their staff were extremely helpful, provided an outstanding service, and were cheerful with nothing too much trouble for them. The rooms were comfy and absolutely spotless. The accommodation is a separate building at the side of the public house, an added bonus it was very quiet in the nights aiding a good nights sleep. In our room was an information book with a section for guests to write reviews in. Every review for the last seven months in our room`s book was excellent from people from UK and a number of countries abroad too. Indicating to us their high standards we experienced are maintained continually. We found the Talbot Inn is an ideal spot for exploring the area, with easy access to Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Woodstock Village and other tourist venues. Plenty of free parking also. We would highly recommend this delightful place."

"I’m from the North West originally however, I have been living in South Oxfordshire for 4 yrs now so not really lost my accent. We are always looking around for nice places to eat for when family friends come to visit. I also own a local business. So I often recommend Steventon Bakery. However, I agree with alot of the reviews on here. (Web in general). Ladies it’s a lovely place, very clean nice atmosphere to come the foods fab. However, it’s let down by some very slow service. Our table wasn’t cleared we waited that long today 26th March 2019 that we decided to just leave the pots, not have another cofeee etc pay downstairs. One of the chair legs was broken. Part of that chair was left to one side. I’m only 8 stone it gave way on me. That could have been an elderly person that it broke on, you would have had a law suit on your hands. Anyway, I had my parents with me we decided to buy bread, lardy cakes etc to take back home some to take back up North. My dad doesn’t like display items that are not covered up by glass domes, so I asked for fresh lardy cakes from the kitchen. The older ladies attitude was so rude. I was shocked. She was irate with me for asking, very argumentative and wasn’t impressed that I didn’t want the two left on display. Yes I purchased two for £4 each. I would have purchased more items but my mother said she would rarther not spend anymore money there! This has let the bakery down the young staff are lovely but please you need to be quicker please can we have improved customer service on bakery counter. The customer is always right. I will be coming back fingers crossed this is addressed. I know you don’t have to advertise but you will lose customers with having staff with bad attitudes. If you don’t want to serve the general public then find another occupation."

"We’ve been coming here for breakfasts at least twice a month for the last 3 years as a couple and occasionally when we’ve had friends family over to stay on a weekend (apart from a bit fo time when they were closed due to covid)...Coffees used to come with a cute little shortbread, this stopped quite some time ago and apparently is not coming back and the coffee is very good. Order and pay and walk around the other side of the island to collect. We choose the same thing each time for breakfast, my husband chooses the full farmhouse at £8.99 and I have the smaller country cottage at £5.99. The full farmhouse has mainly stayed the same except the black pudding shrank to a mouthful rather than the normal size slice you can buy in most supermarkets. The country cottage is the perfect size for me, however I am gluten intolerant so when choosing toast I always opt for gluten free. Predominantly over the last 3 years I have been given two slices, when I’ve only received one which has happened only a few times, I have been given an extra one kindly. Never asking initially or indeed paying extra However on two occasions now, one particular waitress argues with me that it only comes with one. Last weekend I had this, I said I could show her a picture and she called me a liar. When another lady came over and explained, I said it usually comes with 2. This is toast we are talking about not expensive sausages…she informed me I must have asked for two in the past, no not the case only on a few occasions as it usually comes with it. I was then told it states 1 slice only on the menu. We used to come here a lot and I’m unsure why this has become an issue. Please can they get their story straight. Not great to actually argue with a customer."
