"Went there with 5 others and again great night out. We go fairly regularly as we know it's going to be perfect and it always is. Can't believe some people give it 1 or 2 stars, but many, more give it 5. Here are some poor raring comments which I will comment on. Slow service. Well have a drink with your friends or family while you wait. If you're that desperate to go home, stay there instead or go to your local McDonalds. You lot probably all gathered round on your phones, sad. Expensive. What do you want for 20-30 quid please. Stay away. Poor advice from numpties who should stay away. Corkage charge. So what!! you've got a choice. My god £1.50 and you can bring your favourite drinks which are cheap from super market eg bottle of wine including corkage about 10 quid, most restaurants charge about 20-30 quid for a bottle of wine. You can buy drinks from the restaurant if you wish but they are not over priced. Tasteless food. Must be a covid thing, never had a bad meal there yet. If you have any issues tell the staff while your there instead of cowardly reviews and the typical moaning to try to get some form of compo. My advice is to anyone who's never been, try it for yourselves and you be the judge, not from some half witted idiots. Make's me angry because the staff are fantastic. When you do go make a night of it, take your time and enjoy the experience and if you wait a bit so what, what's the hurry? I was there last Friday, spent about 2 hours enjoying a night out with my friends. Nearly left my glasses behind and a staff member ran after me outside with my glasses."

"Booked a table a week in advance as this was a special meal for my husband 's 74th birthday. I specified where we would like to be seated and explained that it was a special 'do '. We have eaten here twice during lockdown and it was excellent. We always have wine beer followed by 2 prawn cocktails,2 seabass,2 desserts followed by 2 coffees. So good that I passed word around to family and friends. The day before we got a message so that we could confirm everything and again I explained that it was a special meal and where we would like to be seated. We excitedly walked up the steps and had no idea what we were supposed to do hung around a bit and no one came up to us. I walked over to a waitress who was by the computer and I said that we had a table booked. She said 'go to the bar they will see to you '. Went to the bar and joined a bit of a queue (surely there should be someone available to meet and greet customers as they arrive??? Others gave their name and were taken presumably to their booked table. I gave our name and he checked his list he asked for our name again then said 'just a minute ' and he went off somewhere. He came back and said follow me and took us to the left of the bar to a place where we weren 't expecting. He cleared a table that was set for 6 people and we sat down.We were already feeling uncomfortable this room was definitely NOT where we wanted to be it had no atmosphere whatsoever. We ordered drinks. then waitress came and we ordered our usual 2 P Cs and 2 seabass so far OK. then she came back and said 'oh I forgot we have no seabass '. OMG I didn 't know what to do I felt like let 's get out of here but at the same time I thought that we would not get in any other decent restaurant (1st night of no restrictions etc) Absolutely nothing else on the menu appealed to us but in the end my husband went for the fish cakes with salad I really didn 't fancy anything so I asked if I could have the salmon pasta starter dish as a main course. portion of chunky chips. My husband has never in his life said that a meal was 'awful and tasteless ' He really is very easily pleased. his fish cakes with small bit of salad he said he could do better himself and he has never cooked anything in his life! Mine was actually 2 pieces of pasta (tortellini) filled with a horrible tasteless filling supposed to be salmon with a very thin watery tasteless sauce. Things were going from bad to worse. We didn 't bother with dessert or coffee as nothing could make this special night better.I felt so sorry for my husband and I have promised to take him somewhere else this weekend to make up for this disaster of an evening at the Red Fox.This was not cheap so I really don 't know what has happened to the normally very good Red Fox restaurant. Has it changed hands? Has the head chef moved on? Something definitely not right.I left a similar review on the Red Fox website but they have chosen to not bother getting back to me that says it all as far as I am concerned. I had promised to bring my daughter here for a 'special ' meal after she has finished her cancer treatments (radio and chemotherapy) butI can not risk this happening again . I normally do take photos of the meals that we have had here these meals were so poor that I didn 't take any photos. My husband even said that we would have had a better meal in Macdonalds!! We have never been there but I 'm sure he is right."
