"We dinned at NOW in early March. The restaurant has a somewhat industrial hipster feel to it, which is stylish, but doesn’t provide a very warm atmosphere in the evening. The service was fine, although we felt like the vibe was a bit off from the beginning. The food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. There weren’t any unusual or interesting flavor associations and the dishes were pretty unremarkable, despite the promising menu that got us there in the first place. The “Blattspinat Salat” was an ok starter and the “Pas de boeuf Bourguignon” did its job veganizing a traditional dish. The club sandwiches were a huge letdown, as they were quite bland, somewhat unbalanced and not easy to eat either due to their small size. The desserts sounded interesting on the menu, but we really only enjoyed the icing on the carrot cake and the small pieces of meringues. Their homemade bread was not to our taste. The biggest issue we had with the restaurant was that the prices didn’t match the quality and quantity of the food offered. The dishes weren’t bad on overall, but they didn’t justify their inflated prices, especially the mains. We are used to paying a bit more in Zurich and vegan dishes often come with a premium, but in this case it was a bit exaggerated and didn’t match our expectations. "The place has a very cool, hipster look. The staff is friendly. But, unfortunately my first experience was not the best. This took place a few weeks ago.I ordered the steak and baked potato. The size of the steak left me surprised as it looked much smaller than advertised. The meat and baked potato were both cold. I do not understand how a baked potato can turn out cold? It needs to come out of an oven!It took me some time to get the attention of the servers, and I informed them about the problem. They exchanged the plate and this time, although I had not taken more then two bites of the steak before, the meat size was even smaller - but the perfect temperature. Surprisingly, the potato was ice cold this time. I was quite flabbergasted. I ate the meat, left the baked potato, informed the staff in the end. They were apologetic. But there was no compensation, apart from a coffee that was offered; which I did not feel like having at that point. On a positive note, the wine was great. It was a pity about the meal though. The letting down experience of the food, and for that price, did put a damper on the Friday night. The place did fill up after we sat down. I am guessing the amount of customers did affect the quality of food preparation. I would like to visit the place again, just to see if the same experience is not repeated and I can chalk it off to a one time thing."
