"I often find myself looking for a good Middle Eastern restaurant when in a new city and am pleasantly surprised when the effort yields a result that exceeds my expectations. Andre Melkonyan is an exceptional dining experience located in the capitol of French gastronomy, Lyon. The dishes are an authentic re-creation of Armenian regional recipes passed down respectfully from one generation to another that are well executed and beautifully presented. My wife and I dined here recently while on holiday and were impressed with every aspect of the experience from the food and service to the ambience. Andre, the owner is a genial host ready to share his generous knowledge of the cuisine.During our visit we sampled stuffed grape leaves, a plate of six, presented with lemon wedges freshly made on the premises that showed a wonderful balance of dill, lemon, herbs and perfectly cooked rice. The phyllo cheese pastry, always a favorite was crispy, warm and stuffed with melted feta, delicately seasoned with parsley. Tarama, a cod roe-based spread and caviar of red sweet pepper both offered before the starter course, as well. On this occasion, two eggplant-based dishes, the moussaka and aubergine farcie, also known throughout the Middle East as karnayarik were served with bulghur pilaf and mesclun salad. Both dishes were excellent with hints of herbs and spices native to Armenian and Turkish cuisine. The dessert list includes French offerings and two Middle Eastern staples, baklava and Armenian yogurt with honey and edible flowers. A respectable selection of beverages is available along with a Corsican beer that paired well with the appetizers.This restaurant is a must for anyone desirous of an authentic and delicious meal served in a congenial atmosphere by a restaurateur with a penchant for meticulous detail. For tourists, lunch or dinner at Andre Melkonyan is a great spot for visitors to Parc de la Tete d’Or as it is located just blocks away. Don’t miss this place if you’re from the U.S. as it is as good, if not better, than similar restaurants in New York and northern New Jersey."

Small 6th restaurant, barely visible from Vitton's journey, but hiding in its heart a delicious and rich Armenian cuisine. The warmth of Armenia and true Mediterranean cuisine, full of colors and tastes that make you want to come back, helped by attractive prices and a short but high quality map. Not to mention a service to small onions and a sentiable frame. A 10/10 deserved for this small family business!
