"We tried to book a last minute table using their online system for Sunday lunch and I had a call back saying they had a cancellation and could accommodate us. We have a baby who was due his nap and they were kind enough to hold the table while he slept in the car, parked in their car park. When we arrived the table was already set up with a high chair (nice touch) and our waitress was welcoming and friendly. I ordered the beef Sunday roast and my wife had fish and chips. They were both fantastic. I tried some of my wife's and was jealous of hers, even while enjoying my own. The roast came with a generous serving of veg on the side and for the quantity and quality, both were reasonably priced. I'd say the beef was very slightly overcooked for my taste and could have been sliced more thinly, but it wasn't an issue. My wife had a dessert which she said was fantastic. I was too full to attempt one! We will definitely be back soon!"

"Decided on the day, that we fancied a Sunday Roast. The regular places we knew were fully booked. Googled this lovely place and thought we would give it a try. Gave them a call and booked a table. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a happy smile, I think he was the owner (I'm not too sure). He took our drinks order and only waited a few moments before we were seated at our table. We were positioned next to a very large table of guests and the staff took our order. We didn't have to wait too long before the food arrived. Hubby and son had a starter, I was saving myself for pudding! Starters were served hot and well presented. We all ordered the Sunday Roast, a good variety of choice to choose from, the waitress gave us recommendation's of what was the most popular and was helpful and attentive. Main meal was served and looked delicious. Couldn't wait to tuck in! Well we wasn't disappointed. All the meats on our plates, melted in the mouth and was very tasty. I couldn't eat all of mine as I wanted to save a space for pudding, the staff kindly gave me a box to take home my half eaten meal. For dessert, I had the Sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm! haha was flippin' gorgeous! Thank you to all the staff for looking after us and and providing a gorgeous meal. Only one negative, (not their fault) but the large table we were seated next to, become louder and louder (with more alcohol) to a point where I had to raise my voice to speak to my hubby who was sitting just across from me. Would absolutely recommend eating at The Crown Inn."

"The Royal Oak at Eydon is a very characterful village pub. Unfortunately it was totally unprepared for a group of 8 people who had booked well in advance. The waitress did not seem to know the items on the menu either. There was a very limited mains menu, most of the party only had two choices. Although the staff did try to compensate for the lack of availability, their kindness did not outweigh the negatives. A few of us had to go with starter plus a side dish. The starter of mushrooms on toast with a side of chunky chips was delicious but the beetroot and goats cheese was very simple and the side salad disappointing. The burger options had no salad garnish and were nothing special. They didn 't have 2 of our initial drinks choices, then only had 1 rhubarb gin left, Of the 4 choices on the main menu, our waitress dismissed the Slow roasted Tomato and Basil Bake as not my cup of tea (that menu option would benefit from a more detailed description). There were only 2 portions of the chicken main available. When it came to sweet there were only 3 options and nothing tempted us, plus no Desarano for a coffee liqueur and no decaf coffee just disappointing all round. The room was draughty too and one of our party was keen to have hot food but a salad was served with her main rather than the hot vegetables she requested. There were also mistakes with our drinks choices. On the positive side, our waitress clearly wanted us to be satisfied and tried to accommodate our requests. It 's just a shame they weren 't able to do that. However, we have since found out that the kitchen is about to be closed for refurbishment so that might explain why our experience on the night wasn 't great. Fingers crossed things will be better in the future as it is potentially a great little village pub to visit."

"Very picturesque pub in a lovely little village. Very quiet when we went so we sat in the courtyard which was a great way to get out of the sun. Olive and bread starter was great, chips and onion rings were really good and the portions were huge! Chicken wings were a bit odd as they were battered. Staff were a bit busy watering plants and having lunch so took a while to get their attention but once we did they were really friendly Food: 4"

"I visit this fantastic cafe daily as we work locally and it truly is superb in every way. Delicious food, great value, super friendly service, and the best soups any of us have ever had, anywhere! It’s got a great feeling of being hidden away too, so a nice spot to hide away from the world, as you admire stunning scenery over the fields. Everything is freshly made, thoughtfully prepared, using high quality ingredients. Highly and thoroughly recommended by me and my colleagues"
