"Stayed for a couple of nights with my daughter. Staff were excellent. Very helpful and welcoming. Had dinner in pub first night. Food was good quality and varied choice but £9 for dessert seemed a bit steep. Full English breakfast was good but only one mushroom and one slice of tomato was a a little on the mean side. Sourdough toast too which is always hard enough to break your teeth but this seems to be everywhere. Our room was clean and spacious. The mattresses could do with replacing as very soft and possibly worn out. Overall a lovely pub to stay in at Burford and staff are great."

"We ate here recently and booked the restaurant for Sunday dinner. The restaurant emailed me asking if we were ok to move to the bar area as they had no room in the restaurant which I said was absolutely fine but when we got there, the tables were really low down to eat. Despite this we had confidence in the menu. We ordered 2 prawn cocktails which were £10 a pop. When they arrived the presentation was awful. Everything was mixed in and the quality of the ingredients was so poor- I at least expected king prawns for that price. The mains were better- my chicken supreme was tasty but the roast was a bit of a let down. Unfortunately no roast potatoes were brought out and I should have complained but at this point we just felt deflated at the ambiance and the let down of the starter. Given this place has a Michelin rating we felt The Lamb really didn’t live up to the expectations."

"We had dinner at The Angel last night. Only two of us. The food was delicious, with generous portions and the service was excellent. They returned to the table often, to see if we needed anything. Extremely pleasant staff. We would definitely visit again. All round, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank You"

"Stopped here for lunch on the way home from Wales with the children and it's that rare gem of friendly for the family but also with really good food, interesting wine and excellent service. Gutted I can't remember the hosts name but again he was a rarity full of charisma and competence in equal measure! Loads of nice touches like the little sketch lining that comes under the small plates, well positioned and decorated plates etc! Look forward to passing by there again and strongly recommend!"

"Decided to try a new local pub for Sunday lunch and booked here on the back of the Tripadvisor ratings. We weren't disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff who let us change from the dining room to sitting outside at the front as it was a beautiful day. Only two roast beef left (and it was only 1.45) so we had these. The food was presented and very tasty, rare roast beef and lovely fresh vegetables. We also had dessert which again was very nice. We'll return for definite!"
