"As part of a three night dinner, b n b. The food was reasonable and varied, some good points, some not so. Each meal time you got some pre dinner nibbles, a couple of them for each person, out of the six I tried, perhaps...one was not tasty. A starter, soup or sorbet, a main and a pudding. Standard stuff for the starters, the pigeon was okay, ham hock likewise. No soup as it was very warm, so we tried all the sorbets, pleasant they were, zesty n fresh. The mains I tried were a trout dish that was a bit, meh! Lacking flavour, so a bit bland. However the venison was super tasty, the meat was very nicely cooked and tender. Ditto for a lamb dish, the meat nicely cooked and again tender. There was plenty of accompaniments. If you are the hungry type there are extras at a small additional charge. The pudes were all very standard, nothing jumped out, but all were well noshed. Meringues and ice creams, cheese platters etc... The breakfasts were excellent. The full bifta was very nice. The usual sausage, bacon etc. All very nice. There was plenty of fish, porridge n cereals, fruit juices, fruit etc. Enough to set yer up for the day."

Visited here with my boyfriend for my birthday yesterday for afternoon tea. It was lovely, good value for money and the staff were lovely. Worth a visit The only thing I would personally like is more savoury food rather than sweet and the scones...were a little dry.

Had afternoon tea here on Tues 20th Aug with daughter, granddaughter (15) and grandson (5). Cant praise it enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were super friendly and my 5 year old grandson even got his own sandwiches made to order. Excellent value...for money. Cant wait to return. Speisekarte ansehen

Had a lovely meal at the Cally Palace Hotel this week. The ambiance was great with very helpful attentive staff. The food very tasty, and the pre and post dinner drinks in the lounge just added to the whole experience. If I had a criticism...to make it would be the pianist. He was a master of the piano but I just found the tempo rather quick. Just a little slower would have been more relaxing.

We visited as part of a family birthday celebration in August. We have been a couple of times before when visiting the area for drinks. We had afternoon tea booked which was set out ready for our arrival. Plenty of space for us all and...friendly staff. The afternoon tea itself was delicious with plenty of choice to choose from. We all took leftovers home which was great too. Great surroundings, wonderful food and friendly staff make the hotel a lovely place to visit for a special occasion.

we stayed with an old friend for the Easter weekend in their nearby holiday home and suggested that we could take them to a really nice lunch on Easter Sunday. about two weeks before our visit she had the. cally palace hotel and booked a table for 3 in the restaurant around 11.00 clock the employee who took the call had no other note than the date and the time of the clock to confirm. when we arrived at this magnificent building on a sunny day, our expectations rose. Even the lukewarm reception from the girl on the reception did not dampen our hopes. imagine our surprise and total disappointment when we were told at the bar that there is only a small selection of sandwiches available, this h...

We had heard this was a 4 star hotel and had booked it for two nights for a friends wedding in the area. The hotel is need of a refurbishment, it is dated and doesn’t feel like luxury. The rooms were insanely hot and uncomfortable,...leading to very little sleep. The double bed was two singles pushed together that separated during the night. The breakfast again was very disappointing, absolutely not what you would expect from this star rating. Very very simple, zero frills. Finally the staff overall were not the friendliest, we felt like an inconvenience at breakfast. We turned up at 9.20 one morning when breakfast finishes at 9.30 and it was made very obvious that the staff were put out by...

"Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel. When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated. After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes. We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? £4.80 for 2 cans of coke) Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish. WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal. The food The baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless. I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave. I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad. The service during the meal was none existent. When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back. Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor."

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
