"Took a party of children on visit just prior to Chinese New Year celebrations. The experience for these young children was very good. They enjoyed seeing the many different restaurants, businesses and architecture Stowell Street had to offer. The owners of a supermarket let them have a look round at the variety of foods on offer and they saw all the decorations up for New Year learning why Red was such an important colour. They did their own Dragon dance in area behind Stowell street Blackfriars. The archway at the entrance to the street is very impressive. I have never yet had a poor meal in any of the restaurants and recommend a visit ."

Plenty of choice with lots of Chinese and Japanese restaurants with take away facilities. Not too big and great to go and see.

If you want a place to have Chinese or Japanese food this is the place to be. When I walk through this boring street I always mumble.

This spot is located in a beautiful area with a variety of restaurants to choose from. Although I didn't dine in any, I enjoyed walking around the area.

Worth a stroll through for the smells alone. As you would expect, numerous restaurants and businesses in a fairly concentrated part of the city, but perhaps not the most impressive of areas.

Enter through the Chinese Arch to a street full of restaurants. You are certainly spoilt for choice. A well kept street with many different types of Chinese cooking going on. The smell welcomes you in!

We walked through the area known as Chinatown on the way to St James park and noted restaurant's but it didn't seem the most inviting place to eat. Viewed the archway, maybe the place seems more inviting during the evening?

During our stay at a hotel across from Chinatown, we noticed a wide selection of restaurants to choose from that were very popular with locals. Although we did not dine at any of them, all of the restaurants appeared to be quite busy.

Apart from lots of restaurants and one Chinese supermarket there was not a lot to see. Cars were queuing into underground car parks. I was looking for a buffet style Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately I picked the wrong one. Worst Chinese I had ever had. Should have read the reviews on Trip Advisor before I dined. There are that many restaurants though there must be some good ones. Nothing about this area makes me feel the I the to go back. Disappointed.

During our three-day stay in Newcastle, we wanted to try a restaurant in Chinatown. After some online research, we decided to visit The Landmark Restaurant. However, to our surprise, when we arrived at 6:45 p.m., the restaurant was closed and dark. We then spotted Amaysia restaurant, where it appeared to be bustling with a diverse group of diners. Fortunately, we were able to get a table. We ordered a Sharing Platter and for our main courses, we chose Lemon Chicken and Chicken Breast Curry. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the prices were reasonable.
