"In a sentence: A unique, one off experience that’s worth coming to for a special occasion, but it’s hard to live up to expectations if you already know all the secrets! Restaurant: Staff 10/10 For somewhere that is famed for its food, the staff are arguably the highlight. They are well trained, friendly, and put you at ease immediately. Particular shoutout to Alex who was passionate and enthusiastic throughout. Location 8/10 The dining room is cosy, if not slightly dingy. You are very close to other tables which can spoil some of the magic if you hear/see dishes ahead of you. Price 6/10 You can swallow the eye watering price by justifying it as a one off experience, but food and the cheapest wine paring for 2 set us back £1100+. Food: Nitroaperitif 7/10 Uniquely served and refreshing taste. Beetroot 8/10 Intense horseradish, light beetroot, great. Red Cabbage Gazpacho 6/10 Gazpacho a little too salty for my taste and mustard ice cream lacked any real punch. Lasagne of langoustine 7/10 Delicate, tasty dish unfortunately the langoustine was slightly tough which was a shame. Sound of the sea 10/10 One of the best plates of food I’ve ever eaten. The fact they serve this with only a fork and spoon (no knife) shows you how tender the seafood is perfectly seasoned and includes a variety different textures. Outstanding. Bread and butter 6/10 Nice, crusty bread and creamy butter. But it is ultimately just bread and butter. Jelly of quail 6/10 Not sure whether it was because the dish is served cold, but I felt the flavour was lacking a bit here and the quail jelly texture is slightly odd. A nice dish, but is more visually impactful than it is taste wise. The Duck 7/10 There’s nothing too crazy or gastronomic about this dish just a well executed plate of food. The duck cigar (aka their take on a duck pancake) was a highlight. Cheese and Grapes 7/10 Cheese and grapes, or is it? I’m not a big fan of blue cheese so I’m glad the flavour was quite mild nice textures and flavours. Hot and Iced tea 7/10 Cool and novel course, especially if you don’t know the twist ahead of time. Taffety tart 8/10 Delicate, tasty dish. Really nice. Like a kid in a sweet shop 9/10 The most theatrical part of the meal the wrong drawer popped out for my sweets but they quickly found the right one. A really nice touch to finish the meal."

Just a wonderful experience and great staff. We had the Xmas Menu, the food was superb, staff chatty, not stuffy as some Michelin starred restaurants are and you smile all the through the experience. Treat yourself, a great box ticked

Be ready to be delighted, spellbound, inquisitive and so much more. A wonderful experience with beautiful food and every mouthful full of deliciousness. The team were all so attentive and made the experience even more enjoyable with their descriptions of the food and the story. A truly lovely way to celebrate two anniversaries and two 60th birthdays. Happy memorable experience. Thank you.

Amazing experience of sensory overload. I visited with my son for his birthday as this place has been on our ‘life’ list for years. It did not disappoint. The service was impeccable and the food was sublime . It was creative, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. A fabulous experience and whilst we had always said it’s a once in a lifetime experience, it’s worth saving for to go back

Amazing food and fantastic service nestled away on the high street of a small English country town. Food was spectacular and the Curiosity wine pairing was very interesting. We shared a wine pairing which worked quite well (partly because they are free pours so you probably get a bit more, but mainly because otherwise that’s an atrocious amount of wine!!! . Will come again in a few years can’t afford to come sooner!!! Speisekarte ansehen

Another amazing meal at the UKs best restaurant. We were treated to probably the best meal in the UK to date. Heston pulled it off again. We were truly blessed to be able to go again and sample this incredible restaurant. As always we were looked after and decided to take the wine flight. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. This is simply worth every penny. If you done ever go anywhere else in your life. Go here. Go. Enjoy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Fat Duck from start to finish; it’s once in a lifetime for us and I’m pleased we went. The service was exemplary and the food was delicious. The Sensorium menu delivered on many levels and opened our eyes a little. The walls are bare on purpose, which added to the menu delivery and as it was so busy and full on, there was no time to sit and contemplate the unhomely feel of the walls! On the downside, the drinks are incredibly overpriced. All in all, a great afternoon and lovely memory.

Working in the industry and being world travelers we feel well placed to comment. The experience at Bray is outstanding. The service is ballet on steroids… but totally human and engaging…with faultless attention to detail. The food as you would expect is honed to perfection with intensity of flavours which are beyond belief…the presentation is faultless. The wine list is encyclopaedic with wines priced for everyone… And some exciting choices… Even the coffee was outstanding! The price… good things must be paid for…when you see the number of people working in the kitchen you begin to understand the costs involved! A sensational experience obliterating the pain of daily living for a few hours!... Speisekarte ansehen

We read a review online about this restaurant that called it one of the greatest restaurants in the world. Having now been there, it certainly deserves that title. I have never been to a restaurant before which played to each of the senses. This is Heston Blumenthal's signature flair, and it was as enticing as we had read about. The food envelops your senses, and it is an experience in the full sense of the word. A particularly memorable moment in the meal is when they brought us to the wine cellar, and had us experience a glass of wine, once in silence, and once to the tune of La Fortuna. The taste of the wine was instantly different, and I had never realised before how changeable the human...

First and foremost, the Fat Duck is a fantastic experience and one that I 'd waited a long time for and the whole evening lived up to that. I was lucky enough to get a table for my family and I (5 in total for 7pm for a big celebration and I feel very fortunate to have been able to visit. I do have a couple of observations following our night that might help others.. firstly don 't be too eager and arrive before your alloted time (standard Michelin behaviour but, it was throwing it down outside and we wanted to get into the dry! we ended up having a pretty rushed drink at their twinned pub to kill 15 mins while we waited. The food was interesting, fascinating, tasty, well presented and on th...

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
