"Very disappointing Sunday lunch experience. This has been one of our favourite restaurants to visit for the last 10 years, sometimes visiting twice a week, but unfortunately over the last 2 years it has got progressively worse. Sad to say but true. We wanted to try muse again after not visiting for a year due to a previous bad experience unfortunately no improvements. Service very slow, waited 15 mins for drinks to arrive. Staff aren’t personable and welcoming. When the staff were one of the pulls to visit Muse in the past. Starters were delicious, but the Sunday lunch was very poor. Luke warm food, tasteless pork, rock hard roasties and standard boring veg bowl. The gravy was like flavoured water with a weird floral taste, it did not belong on a Sunday lunch. Wish I could write better things from a place we used to love. Hopefully staff might get a change around and chefs might get a shake up. We have always been great tippers but on this occasion there wasn’t any service to tip. The only tip I can give is try to somehow go back to the good old days, when muse had atmosphere and it was like stepping into your friends house, with great food, wonderful staff who were more like friends"

"Visited the restaurant yesterday with my family. Soon as we arrived we were greeted so warmly and seated almost straight away. The restaurant has a lovely burning pizza oven all made and served in front of you. The restaurant has a wonderful ambience and feel good environment to seat in specially on colder days. The guys who greeted and served us through out our meal which was delicious and full of yummy options quite reasonably priced on the menu. Also I recommend to try the coffee its gorgeous and distinct taste. All our experience during our stay was comfortable and inviting from the service to the food. I recommend you visit here if you’re in or around yarm for an evening meal or quick bite both are great ideas. The people who work here are amazingly passionate and couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you for your amazing service and experience you gave."

"We were regulars here and have noticed changes in the past 12 months. After our visit recently I believe it will be awhile before we return. I booked a table roughly 8 weeks ago and was not told it was card payment only. Only two tables being used and service was very slow. Not once were we asked if everything was alright with the meal. It would however have been nice to be asked. Staff not very attentive! When paying I was informed that 10% service charge had been added. I believe in paying for a service when it is good. I was not told it was optional however I was told it is the norm now and everywhere does it. The service tonight did not warrant 10% service charge. I cannot complain about the food as it was very good. Service is well below par! Shame really."

"Family meal out, there were easily over 20 of us and we pre ordered the food which was great! So easy to know people had already decided and we could just tell the staff when we were ready for food. All started off great, food came out around 20/25 minutes after we had ask which we all thought was really quick considering there were over 20 of us, which was great! However , when eating we felt like the member of staff was watching over us and as soon as 1 person had took their last mouthful the staff member removed the plate. Our poor nanna who had travelled from Thirsk for this meal was still chewing her last bite before her plate was taken away, which we all felt was too rushed. Empty glasses were being taken away whilst we were eating which is fair enough but when the glasses are been taken from across the table whilst you’re trying to enjoy your meal was disrespectful I thought. Once everyone had finished there it meal we were opting to stay for some more drinks and all have a catch up however we felt that rushed to get out of the place we just left and went elsewhere. Glasses were being taken that weren’t even finished. Just a quick tip for staff in future, do not try and rush customers!! Other than that we enjoyed the food and the place was clean, there was also a little park for the kids which was great!"

"Excellent find. I’ve wanted to try here for sometime, so on an impromptu walk around Yarm, we decided to go for some lunch. It’s a lovely stroll up to a quant area with views over Yarm. Ice cold Guinness was spot on and the food was excellent. My partner had a special Mediterranean chicken, and I had the beef pie. Very cautious when getting pies due to the disappointment when it’s loaded with fatty meat or mushrooms. This pie was exactly what you cross your fingers for. Perfectly cooked big chunks of beef in a rich ale gravy. Fantastic. And the landlord was brilliant. Really glad we went. I will definitely return recommend, I hope they don’t leave (but that’s just me being selfish)"
