"My party of four went to this restaurant on Saturday night, as we are regulars at their sister restaurant, The Winking Prawn, which we love. Our waitress was friendly, but unfortunately, the food was terrible. The halloumi we ordered was inedible, being raw and drenched in overpowering garlic oil. Despite not touching it, they did remove it from our bill. The mussels in the starters were gritty and very small, indicating they were not fresh. The prawns were overcooked and lacked flavor, while the ribs were good and the crab croquettes were okay. For mains, both crab salads were ordered, one specifying a pepper allergy which was not listed on the menu, yet the salad was still served with peppers. The jerk chicken was decent, just chicken and rice. However, the scallops and prawns were the worst dishes I have ever had in Devon, and at nearly £20, they were completely inedible. The manager's response when we mentioned our disappointment was dismissive, leaving us unsatisfied with our over £100 bill. I rarely complain or write reviews, but this was without a doubt the worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant, which is a shame as it has potential to be great."

"When on holiday in the area, we 've eaten at this restaurant (in its various guises and under various owners approx 20 times and have always had a very good meal. This was our first visit since 2019 and it was really excellent/as good as any we have ever had. We ordered 18 different sharing plates and every single one was excellent. The price is fair for the quality of the food. It 's a real family favourite. (Adding a couple of dairy free dessert options would be a welcome addition, if I had to identify one 'wrinkle '."

"It was very busy at 11am on a Saturday. The kitchen was too busy with breakfasts so no more food orders were being taken. This was explained to us when we finally got a table. The coffee was great but would have liked to been able to order food from the full menu. Maybe next time. It was pricey but everywhere seems to be these days."

"Whilst holidaying in Kingsbridge my husband and I were fortunate to stumble across this wonderful gem. Having a chef for a husband our expectations for quality food were high but this place did not disappoint. We ordered a selection of tapas, a couple off the Specials board too and I can honestly say we polished off the lot alongside a yummy bottle of white wine. Even though it was a busy night the staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere very relaxing. If you enjoy good quality food in a wonderful atmosphere amongst a fantastically old building, The Old Bakery is for you. It's a must if you are visiting Kingsbridge, be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Cannot wait to eat there again!"
