"We had a celebratory birthday lunch on a Saturday and everything about our experience was just outstanding! From our arrival, when the staff offered to park our car for us, to enjoying the lounge after our meal had finished, I cannot fault a thing. The food was amazing, totally delicious and, although the portions were not large, they were perfectly judged and completely satisfying. There was much to tempt us on the a la carte menu, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. My entire meal (starter: smoked salmon delicately presented, main course: park belly, and dessert of poached pears and panna cotta) was a delight in every bite, as were my companion's meals. Even the little things like the bread and butter, or the mint tea after the meal, were exceptional. The presentation was very beautiful. The service was beautifully, indeed, perfectly, paced. The ambience was elegant and comfortable. They have created a truly memorable 5 star experience!"

"Having stopped in Bourton on the Water and thought I would grab something to eat to save sorting something out later that evening. Having a quick scan on Tripadvisor I thought I would give Smiths a try. Entering I was given a choice of table so opted for one by the window to watch the world go by! I ordered the Smiths Classic Burger, Truffle and Parmesan Fries and thought I would give the Limoncello Spritz a try. Some reviews on here say that there is a wait for the food to arrive and yes there is and to me that is a good thing. If you have to wait it means that the food you have ordered is cooked freshly for you. The burger was well cooked and flavoursome with just the right amount of extras inside to make it something easy to pick up and eat. The truffle and parmesan fries again were very flavoursome. The Limoncello Spritz has a bold claim on the menu in saying that they make Limoncello better than the Italians but to me personally Sorrento Limoncello is superior but Smiths Spritz is still very drinkable. Family run and friendly had a nice conversation with Seb about other places locally to visit and with mum (sorry I didn’t catch your name) about how they came to Bourton and the history of the tea room to burger restaurant change. Yes there is a service charge, yes the mention it when paying and ask if that is ok. To me yes that is fine. Visit other restaurants (not cafes or fast food) and you’ll find that they also charge a service charge. Maybe it should be printed on the menu, maybe it shouldn’t. Everyone has their own opinion. Would I go back again? Would I go with friends? The answer to both of these questions is……. Yes without a doubt!"

"After being seated, we quickly ordered our food and drinks, which arrived promptly. However, we ended up waiting over an hour for our starter, and just as we were about to address the issue with the staff, our main course was served. We mentioned that we hadn't received our starter and requested to cancel it. The staff member was polite and apologized for the mix-up. As for the meal, it was just average. The portion sizes were small, and my husband's dish was overly salty, which left us feeling disappointed, especially considering the prices. Although we initially wanted to stay for dessert and additional drinks, our enthusiasm had waned. The staff informed us that they had removed the starter from our bill, but then claimed they didn’t recall us ordering one. We clarified our order with them, and they ultimately removed the starter, along with the service charge, from our bill. While the ambiance of the place was nice, we cannot recommend it and won’t be returning on our next visit here."

"An enjoyable dinner whilst on holiday. Our pork belly and sirloin steak mains followed by amaretto semi-freddos with pear slices left us well filled and vindicated our decision to avoid a starter. All the food was well cooked and tasty. With a bottle of wine, coffees and liqueurs our bill came to just over good value for money.Service was friendly and helpful well done Kai and his charming assistants!Our quibbles are twofold: The noise level in the inner dining room was very high due to a combination of a hard decor and the proximity of the tables. This leads on to the second some would consider the table density to be too high with Covid still at high levels. A window was open but the closed when a nearby diner complained."

"Off the tourist track so usually able to get a table. I live 90 miles or so away but as my hobby is riding motorcycles I often mosey on down to the Cotswolds and when I do, I always go to this cafe. The owner remembers me each time and remembers my drink and what I like to eat. Very friendly people, freshly prepared food nice quiet spot. Highly recommended Chris Rose"
