This is the place to get the local specialty bigoli with duck ragù, although the other dishes were wonderful too. Large wine selection. Ask for inside and you get to dine in a brick vaulted medieval cellar, with a glass floor showing the remains of a Roman road and the foundations of a Roman house. We went twice.

The place is nice and the service is great, but it is ridiculously expensive. We ordered a 20 euro plate of cheese and cold meats. It was incredibly poor: 3 small pieces of cheese, 3 pieces of prosciutto, 3 pieces of salami and 3 pieces of parma ham. We order two glasses of wine that were filled minimally. And in addition they charged us 5.60 euros for the service.

I was at the bistro a few days ago, thanks to the wonderful maria joanna was a truly unique experience to discover the local wines. Stopped in to Il Ceppo to shop for wine and stayed for lunch. The wine cellar dining room was truly a hidden gem and the wine selection was wonderful. We had a tasting menu of appetizers, to include several amazing fish dishes (especially the bacala). As we dined, we visited with the staff and owners who were gracious, friendly, and treated us as family. We bought several wines and a vinegar based on the owner's recommendation and the wines we've drunk so far have been fantastic. We will return to Il Ceppo for another wonderful afternoon.
