"Although we were only staying in a villa in the hills above Castelnuovo for six days we visited Da Lorietta twice. Very popular with locals for birthdays and other celebratory occasions it's advisable to book. Delicious local produce, hand made pasta and great house wines simple menu but all delicious, incredibly reasonable and with a very friendly service. Incredible panoramic views. An absolute gem."

"We have been to Antica Lanterna before and it never fails to impress. The lighting is a bit bright and is English people never respond well to having a TV on in the restaurant but the food is always exeptional."

"We drive great distance to reach this restaurant. The food and location are very nice. But after so many trips, we just can't take the longtime waitress anymore. We stopped taking friends because it was embarrassing how she treats guests. So we only went on our own the last 5-6 times. But after the last visit, we sadly resigned ourselves to the fact she just presents such an unpleasant attitude, our meal isn't worth it anymore. Unfortunate because the food can be very good. When we already anticipate the sour demeanour before we arrive, its time to try other places who are happy to have guests."

"Mi dispiace tanto fare questo tipo di recensione ma sono costretta... Questo posto è da 'cucine da incubo '... Personale gentile però menù detto a voce quindi scorretto perché io voglio vedere i prezzi prima di ordinare.. Preso un antipasto in 2 di una tristezza infinita, 2 fette di prosciutto quindi una per uno, 2 di salame, 2 di formaggio 4 fette di pane che dovevano essere crostini con sopra il niente praticamente .. Fatto notare perché veramente da fame e si sono pure meravigliati quando abbiamo chiesto se era un antipasto per una persona.. Preso la polenta veramente immangiabile nemmeno un pastone per le galline era così terribile lasciato tutto... Non abbiamo avuto il coraggio di prendere altro, al momento del conto la signora è rimasta sconcertata davanti alla risposta perché non mi era piaciuta, perché nessuno aveva mai lasciato nulla, leggendo poi altre recensioni invece ho visto che era successo ad altri... Veramente bocciato e penso sia il posto dove ho mangiato peggio, poi dire mangiato è un parolone perché è rimasto lì ... Non ho parole capisco il periodo ma questo è proprio improvvisato... Sconsiglio vivamente"

"This charming little place is right across the street from the city Theater. Initially, we were the only couple eating on a Monday night. We were welcomed by Luca, part owner, and were seated at a corner table quickly. The selective menu offered numerous possibilities and we ordered a Risotto with shrimp and Tortellini stuffed with a mixture of pork and beef. While waiting for the main course we sampled two awesome breads both of which were dipped in a regional olive oil. The oil was from Lucca and was the best we have ever tasted. We come to Italy every year and I lived in Italy six years. We also split a mixed salad which was very fresh and crispy while waiting for the main course. Portion size was more than adequate. Alessandro, chef and part owner, surprised us with a gift from the kitchen. A potato chip which had red onion, mustard seed stem and a drop of mayonnaise. Superb! The main courses arrived and presentation was great. The Risotto filled the plate and was about a quarter inch deep. There were four tender shrimp on top of the Risotto. Temperature and coloring were perfect. The Tortillini too was extremely good while presented in a white cream sauce. The mix of beef and pork was very tasty. Dessert consisted of a Chocolate soufflé in a white cream sauce. Warm chocolate cake filled with a very warm chocolate sauce. I ate as much as the spoon would allow. The house red wine was excellent and the half carafe portion fairly priced. We will return........a big thumbs up for Alessandro and Luca!"
