"My sister (45) and I (44) visited a restaurant today to celebrate the birthdays of my mum (72) and my godmother (71) after hearing good things about their afternoon tea. I have to say, we were not disappointed. The whole experience was delightful. We were warmly greeted by Linda and shown to our table. They offered a great selection of teas and the food was absolutely delicious. We appreciated the simplicity of the sandwiches and pastries, which were tasty and familiar. The sandwiches included cream cheese and cucumber, ham with Dijon mustard, and egg mayo. The scones were light and fluffy, while the cakes, including Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, chocolate brownie, and red velvet, were all delicious. The waitstaff, including Lily, Harry, and Linda, were attentive and accommodating. As a special surprise, they brought out individual cupcakes with candles and sang happy birthday to the ladies, which was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend having afternoon tea at this restaurant. It is well worth the money and provides a great experience."

"We were staying at The Grove on a golf break and wanted to eat outside of the hotel, this restaurant is only a 5 minute taxi ride so looked ideal. We went on a Sunday evening and it was very quiet but the service was very good and friendly. Food was excellent they were able to do a chicken tikka madras and the lamb chops were very tasty,good size portions and all dishes were great. We had a bottle of house white and red and can recommend both and finished off with 2 French coffees. We will definitely be back in September when we are back at the hotel for a conference. Anyone staying at The Grove will be impressed with this restaurant and excellent VFM. Many thanks."

"What a great family run pub! Eclectic clientele of all ages. Friendly welcome, with super attentive staff. Great food with a huge nod to their South African roots, but great traditional fare too. Smallish menu but that’s because everything is cooked fresh, be patient it’s worth the wait. If not go to the local Spoons or Harvester, you’d fit right in!!! There is a good selection of traditional ales, Peroni and Bira Moretti on tap for the more discerning lager drinkers, the Guinness is excellent too. If you ask nicely they’ll make you an Old Fashioned as well! These guys work really hard with regular quiz, DJ and live music events with a really chilled and friendly vibe. Great that my GF lives just around the corner … legendary for a local."

"We were a couple of weary travelers who had literally come in from a Thai holiday, very late and getting close to closing time, for a brief visit in Bushey before heading back home to Florida. I 'm so sorry I didn 't get their names, but the proprietors were attending, and an absolutely gem of a couple! We were welcomed straight away into this beautiful, clean pub where clearly the regulars were sat happily at home in this lovely place. We were served up (much needed! lush ice cold brews and fantastic hospitable chit chat and convo. They made us feel like one of the family in no time, and in the short time we were there at that! We look forward to our next visit, to my husband 's hometown of Bushey, with more time to spend in this wonderful establishment, hopefully to relax and listen to live music as I understand they are known for as well. HIGHLY recommend The Horse Chains!"
