"Small business to small business and personally I come here quite often. Sometimes with friends, sometimes with my kids who love it and sometimes with my dog or alone. I have to say, overall it’s a great place. Most of the staff are really friendly, the food is good and any problems and they are solved quickly. The other customers are friendly too. Can’t fault it, there’s a reason why I keep coming back. Kid-friendliness: My boys are always welcome and love the place. "Our party was a group of 6 friends getting together for the first time in 3+ years one couple visiting from the USA The food drink and service were excellent unfortunately it was extremely noisy in the bar area where we were seated probably due to the presence of a very noisy raucous group sat at the bar Having said that it would not discourage the 4 locals of us returning soon"

"We booked the Luxury Afternoon Tea, yesterday, as it was my birthday. I requested a proper height table and chairs, as we find eating from low coffee tables and sofas, not comfortable. I was assured that was not a problem. On arrival we were shown to low sofas and coffee table!! A table, in the darkest corner of the library, behind a wedged open door, was quickly set up and the tea and food arrived almost instantly. The waiter departed, never to visit us again. There was no tea menu, until I asked. The whole 'Luxury Afternoon Tea ' was the worst I 've ever had. Poor presentation, appalling cake selection, comprising 6 brown cubes, 3 of which were stale, 3 macarons, and 3 of the tiniest eclairs ever! It looked really unappetising . The sandwiches were very dull and poorly presented. Not to mention the milk jug with a large chip out of it!! The best thing was the scones and the tea. Both excellent. Maybe we should have had a cream tea instead LOL As it was my birthday, it was so disappointing. I know that we won 't be going again. They ought to have a look at what a Luxury Afternoon Tea should be See The Cookie Jar in Alnwick!"

"On the evening we visited (Tuesday) they were not serving food due to a staff member having a family emergency. Reports in the guest book of the cottage we were staying in locally could not praise the food highly enough. We stayed for a drink and sat in the beer garden and chatted to the landlord who was very friendly and welcoming and could not apologise enough for not being able to supply food, although he did offer to cook us fish and chips. The restaurant seating inside the pub was a bit dark but much brighter in the attached conservatory. There was plenty of space between tables and everything looked clean and tidy. We will have to try again sometime. They had live music in the garden on a Friday night with several different bands performing."

"Upon arriving punctually, it appeared that the restaurant was unaware of our reservation, a fact that one of the staff later acknowledged. Despite this oversight, we were able to choose from the full menu, and we were also offered the Express menu. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our only complaint was that we seemed to be seated quite close to the kitchen. Unfortunately, the noise was quite disruptive, as we could hear the staff shouting to each other and the music playing. Overall, we would be inclined to return, but we would likely request a table in the main dining area rather than in the corridor connecting the restaurant to the bar."
