"Stopped here last Friday on our way to Oxford at the height of storm Eunice. What a fabulous pub/eatery. Received a very warm welcome from the landlady which was much appreciated given the hazardous conditions we were travelling in. The few locals at the bar also extended a friendly welcome. Our Thai lunch was delicious and freshly cooked. Just wish we lived locally to enjoy this establishment again and again. Old style restrooms and spotlessly clean! If you’re travelling up/down the M40 and fancy a great place for lunch, just hop off at Junction 6 and you are less than 5 minutes from this lovely pub."

"We saw a board outside the Fat Fox advertising a Sunday Carvery. We decided to give it a try and boy were we pleased. The carvery was £20.00 per head and was absolutely delicious. You could have as much as you wanted. The roast beef virtually melted in your mouth, the vegetables were beautifully prepared and very flavoursome and the gravy was excellent. The drinks were well priced. We booked and it is certainly advisable to do so. ALL the staff were cheerful, helpful and attentive. The husband and wife owners were most personable, convivial and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We chatted to other regular diners and learned that the standard of cuisine was always of the same very high quality. We will definitely be returning even though it’s 15 miles away. Thoroughly recommended."

"Met friends for dinner here just before the easter weekend. Purely chosen on location as being the mid point with friends. Wow, what a find!!! my friend contacted them via facebook to book a table and get a copy of the menu definitely need to book in advance as they don 't open for food everynight and they have limited covers) and said they were very efficient at replying and sorting the booking. For a Wednesday night this cute little pub was really busy and there was a great atmosphere. The young girl behind the bar was polite and efficient. The food was fabulous, nothing over fancy but I had the hallomi and veg skewers with a greek salad and dipping sauces. The portion size was immense, the salad was packed with tasty bits and the skewers and sauce were divine, I was stuffed but it was so good I just couldn 't stop. My husband had the ribs, another great size portion and the meat was falling off the bone. DIdn 't get a chance to try the puddings but would definitely go back to get the full experience. The landlady popped out at one point and was very pleasant and the waiting staff were also really polite and efficient. Great work team!!!"

"I'm a local but by no means a regular, I probably visit 5 or 6 times a year, but regardless the Wheatsheaf always makes you feel welcome. The staff are fantastic, the punters are friendly and the food is superb. During the summer the garden is perfect for when you've got friends/family visiting and on top of all that, the prices aren't bad either. Highly recommend. If I absolutely had to give one area of improvement, I'd say that sometimes the wait for food and service can be a little long if there is a lot of tables eating, but I'm really clutching at straws to think of a negative. Overall a really lovely place which I hope continues to operate for many years to come."
