"I was out late the other evening and feeling a bit hungry ; so, I decided to go to this Koushary place that I had heard about. Koushary (or however it may be transliterated) is a Egyptian working man's dish made of rice, pasta, lentils,...chick peas, fried onions, and a seasoned tomato sauce. I have very good memories of eating Koushary when I was a student in Cairo for years. And while I have made reasonable facsimiles of this working man's dish here in Paris, I decided to seek out this restaurant in the northern arrondissement. It's far away. That said, it is right off of the Métro/Subway Line at the SIMPLON station stop from the northern terminus of Line at Porte de Clignancourt). You would think that a dish like this would be simple enough to prepare. Well . . . while there may, indeed, be different variations of Koushary with which I am not familiar, it's also true that I ate a LOT of koushary when I was living in Cairo. This one was pretty poor, actually. I think that the porportions of the ingredients were out of balance, weighing heavily on rice (which I don't think was that great), tiny elbow macaroni, and a tomato sauce that was uninspiring. To top all of that off, it was very nearly cold. The ingredients are all cold. Maybe the idea is to heat them up a bit with the tomato sauce ? I don't know. But, at the bottom of my large portion of koushary (which would have made any real Egyptian person smile because of its petit size), there was water probably from the macaroni or the rice. I don't know, but it was unpleasant. Maybe it would have been different if I had been there for lunch ? I will never know because I will not be going back to this place. Sorry. I had really hoped to write a good review for this place because I love the country and I have very good Egyptian friends, but I think that they would have agreed with me on this review. I don't usually complain about paying euros for a meal, but, quite frankly, for that price, they could have at least served it hot (I didn't see a microwave behind the counter, but perhaps they could use one"

a small associative restaurant held by a nice Egyptian jeun that offers some Egyptian specialties including the famous koucheri. The small to 3 euros, average to 4 euros, max to 5 euros.A try you like or not but at least you will have to try a traditional Egyptian dish very authentic.

In 2001 on my trip to Egypt I liked the koucheri a typical and very popular dish down, since I was looking for it desperately until I found this restaurant that serves a real koucheri as in the country, copious and cheap, and some other Egyptian speciality. But be careful it is popular and not suitable for my point of view at a galant dinner.

Not for the faint-hearted. Rudimentary with aluminium spoons but they are polite enough to ask whether you want a knife fork as well. As to the grub, sic, had Meloukhia whch was quite good and a beef tajin. These dishes look better in the...photos. Sad to say, for this cheap price one can easily do better in neighbouring restaurants but if you really want to experience a dingy Egyptian cafeteria this the right place. Did not try the Camel's foot soupe so can't judge it.

I was out late the other night and I was a little hungry; So I decided to go to that koushary place I'd heard of. koushary (or whatever transliteration) is an Egyptian worker's dish made of rice, pasta, lentils, chickpeas, fried onions and a seasoned tomato sauce. I have very good memories of eating koushary when I was a Cairo student for two years. And while I did reasonable facsimile of this work dish here at paris, I decided to look for this restaurant in the north of the 18th arrondissement. It's far. that said, it is right next to Metro/Metro line Speisekarte ansehen

eating in the good heart koucheri brought us directly to the luxor! their koshary is absolutely decaying and the fried onions on the top were pure perfection. This dish was definitely at the bar with the koshary we had in the whole Egypt. 5 euros per koshary dish is also very reasonable. We were asked to order some liver apart to fill us, but the koshary was more than enough to fill us, and we had to get a carry box only for that. Next time, we'll just go with the koshary. a suggestion: an additional picking sauce should be served with koshary. We found ourselves to be more angry!

Eating at Koucheri du Bon Coeur took us right back to Luxor! Their koshary is absolutely decadent, and the fried onions on top were pure perfection. This dish was definitely on bar with the koshary we had all over Egypt. euros per koshary dish...is very reasonable, as well. We were talked into ordering liver on the side to fill us up, but the koshary was more than enough to fill us up, and we had to get a takeaway box for it alone. Next time, we're just going to go with the koshary. One suggestion: additional picante sauce should be served alongside the koshary. We found ourselves wanting more!
