"Our evening started off with a wine tasting of three of the Winery's finest in their tasting room...I loved their Creme! Although living in canada's prairies, chances of finding it in our Liquor store may be slim, I will look! The owner's were very cordial and informative hosts to our international meeting group. We then went out and into the dining cave. Sitting was varied, and we were a very very large group, but we all ended up with excellent company and seating. The courses were interesting, and the very best cassoulet beans I've ever had! The rilletes were great...and their signature bread fit well with all courses it was served with. The dessert, excellent. Thank You, and I will certainly recommend to anyone I know visiting the region in the future."

Beautiful restaurant, wonderful service. The candle lit caves made it very romantic and open wood cooking was great to see. Food was delicious and so much of it at good quality for the price. Great vegetarian set menu. Speisekarte ansehen

Dîner en juillet , accueil très agréable, service très sympathique, bien sûr : repas copieux avec des produits artisanaux pour notre menu à 28 euros tout compris , apéritif, plats, dessert , boisson. Ambiance originale avec la salle troglo.

ce style de restaurant dans une cave troglodyte avec pour plat principal des fouées est absolument à faire une fois lors d'un séjour dans la régionen plus du cadre atypique de la cave, le cadre extérieur est magnifiquebons produits et fouées à volontéservice très rapide et très agréableune trés bonne adresse

conseillé par l'hotel kyriad ou nous étions nous allons a ce resto. dans le menu tout est compris ! eau, vin, et jus de pomme vraiment excellent . les fouées sont très bonnes a volonté mais faut attendre le serveur qui les donnent une par une ! les chipouillettes excellente. ce n'est pas un resto gastronomique mais pour passer un bon moment c'est très bien. l'endroit vaut le détour. Restaurant super dans un décor idyllique, Plusieurs menu proposé avec 1 ou 2 entrées, plat, dessert ,thé ou café et boisson comprise ,tout cela pour un prix entre 25 et 30 euros.Cuisson au feu de bois réaliser devant vous,avec la " fouée " une spécialité de la région,cela restera un très grand moment pendant nos vacances, surtout n'hésiter pas cela vaux le détour.Félicitations à toute l’équipe.

Nous cherchions pour manger "local". Nous avons trouvé ce restaurant sur internet : menu sympa. réservation obligatoire. A 12H30 la porte s'ouvre : le personnel nous accueille. Une demoiselle, très aimable, nous accompagne à notre table. Le cadre est splendide : on mange dans des caves troglodytes. Nous avons pris le premier menu à 25 euros : génial ! Nous avons pris le café à l'extérieur dans le parc.Je viens des Pyrénées, et je recommande à tous les angevins d'aller manger dans ce restaurant.

"This is my third visit to Gambetta over many years. It has been consistently serving great experimental food , and with all great experimentation there are occasional things that do not work but that is acceptable. In general what works here is almost everything and there is a richness of variety and the experience is over all very enjoyable. I have always thought that thier tasting menu was what to go for because this is where you want to experience the wide repertoire. So the mise en bouche was remarkable with crab meat wrapped with smoked salmon and a delicious oyster amongst others. This was followed by a starter which was a modern take on Paella and this was very effective. John Dory based plate followed and then a sort of 'panache' of three different bits of lamb including some offal which is not to everyone's taste. The dessert was a mixture based on lemon and was excellent but what didn't work was the wasabi 'creme brule'. This was indeed an amazing gastronomic experience. I chose the wine pairings with the meal chosen by the restaurant. This cost and extra 43 Euro per person for 4 glasses of wine of 10 cls each. This was not good value. The wine with the starter was a rather indifferent wine from the south west of France which was a blend of Ugni Blanc. The wine with the John Dory was a good Graves. But the greatest disappointment was the red which was a Morgon 2010 followed by a pleasant sparkling Saumur with the dessert. So why was the wine so disappointing in a region that is so rich with all sort of wines a sthe Loire valley? Why was there no dessert wine from Vouvray or cotes de Layon with the dessert. I already had a pink sparkling Saumur as an apparetif and another sparkling one with the dessert simply was an anticlimax. As to the red wine, this was unpleasant. The reason for this I suspect is that the wine has been opened more than 24 hours before and then treated with a vacu-vin. This method leaves a wine that looses it flavour but maintains all the heaviness. There is a distinct character to such a wine. I commented on this to the waiter and did not drink the wine but there was no reaction from the waiter or the owners and no attempt to address this in any way. A similar experience had occurred to me previously in a previous visit in which I mentioned this to the waiter who told me there was nothing wrong with the wine and refused to replace it. So this experience would not put me off Gambetta because of the quality of the food. What it would do however is to avoid the wine pairings and choose from the extensive and great wine list with numerous half bottles. I would advise others to do the same."
