"I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this hidden gem of a bistro! I suppose part of it may be due to its location in the 8th arrondissment. It's a bit further out from the center of Paris in a quieter neighborhood so not many tourists may know about it. The upshot is that this is a truly local joint. We were the only tourists at this busy local bistro as far as we could tell. The food was hands down one of the best meals we had during our entire trip which covered 3 countries and 8 cities in Europe!! I was also traveling with a true gourmande/chef/cookbook writer who wholeheartedly agreed that this was one of our best meals. It's not a fancy restaurant by any means, but the food they serve is made with only the freshest of ingredients and is representative of classic French bistro fare. We had the duck confit and the duck breast for lunch, each cooked to perfection (the best of all the duck dishes we had tried throughout France) and accompanied with the most amazing side of garlic fried potatoes (I didn't know a simple side of potatoes could taste so incredible). Service during lunch was admittedly rather slow because they only had 2 individuals serving all the tables with 2 chefs in the kitchen. It was a packed house, but well worth the wait. We arrived a bit late for lunch so there were a few items no longer available on the menu, including a couple of the desserts that we wanted to try. We were told that they emphasized use of the freshest ingredients only which results in some items no longer being available once they're sold out.We enjoyed our lunch so much that we came back for dinner where we tried their fresh frog legs, which had completely sold out during lunch. Amazingly, the chefs remembered us from earlier in the day (despite the countless patrons they must have cooked for) and were even able to recite back to us the exact dishes we had each ordered! There were less people at night so service was much faster. To top it off, they gave us champagne on the house and surprised us with free dessert which was a delicious molten chocolate lava cake! All in all, one of the most memorable meals of my travels to date. Wonderful food, talented chefs, and warm hospitality in a local, less touristy part of Paris. Will definitely be back in the future!"
