"Perfect Gem So glad we found this place. Complete life saver which offers vegan food and more importantly for me vegan gluten free options including cake. We loved it the first time, having vegan burger and chips with the most delicious homemade cheese sauce. The gf cakes were amazing too. Returned 2 days later not having ate properly since then and the staff were so accommating, making me the full Scottish breakfast but modifying for my gf needs, a lifesaver, juices are delicious too. On our last day we headed straight back knowing we wouldn't be disappointed, filling our stomachs for the long train journey home. Marcus is exceptional, friendly, welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations in and out of town. You must visit, it's wonderful, best burgers, best breakfasts best tofu scramble I've ever had) best cakes too. If we had longer I'd make my way through the entire menu. When we visit Edinburgh again we will definitely be heading here."

Loved everything about this place. The selection of cakes was the best we’ve seen. I wish we had time to have more than just cake and coffee. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked amazing! Next time …

So very pleased to find this place. Delicious food and a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. We had breakfast here on both days of our trip. Bought a cake and ate it on our walk to Arthur's Seat. Fabulous food. Keep going!

Got a drink and a cake and staff were lovely and helpful. Place is beautifully presented and very clean and tidy. My cupcake was absolutely spectacular! This is worth going to, especially if you're looking for great vegan treats.

I can't go to Edinburgh without paying this place a visit. The menu is varied and the cakes are a delight; particularly for someone with allergies like myself. The ambience is super and the staff are always friendly even I visit. Speisekarte ansehen

Stumbled across this little place by accident and so glad we did. Away from the hustle and bustle. Had a very enjoyable healthy and tasty lunch. I had a Buddha bowl and hubby had mac n cheese. Fantastic selection of cakes and vegan food. We’re not vegan but thoroughly enjoyed it. I would not have known that the fake chicken wasn’t actually chicken it was so convincing. Will definitely visit again next time we’re in the area.

First time we came we had a lovely time and nice meal and bought lots of cakes to take away….unfortunately we went today and was no tables free which was fine so I said I would book online and come back to be “NO” as they aren’t going to tell people to leave and when we were just about to leave a table became available so I asked if we could take that table we got told “your lucky” in a very rude manner so instead of taken the table my daughter asked if we could just leave became of this staff members attitude it was that blunt and rude.Unfortunately won’t be back now because of this as nice food too. Although we were looking for breakfast, we turned up and this little cafe was full so we decided to get a couple of coffees to take away and drink while we found somewhere to eat. Having ordered we were directed to stand by the sign and wait…. Which we did… Ten minutes later we were still waiting… Inadvertently standing in front of the service door (being difficult to stay out of the way of customers and staff) my partner was brusquely ordered to move aside. Still no sign of the coffees. After another 5 mins and realising that our coffees hadn’t even been started yet we decided to cut our losses, requested a refund, and went on our way… The place was obviously busy so of course we have lots...

Wandering round Edinburgh with the good lady wife and starting to feeling hungry. Saw this place. Thought it looked and it was! Now I am not a vegan nor a huge carnivorous Alpha male either. I had the mac and cheese and was genuinely surprised how good it was. I had no idea veganism was so tasty! I love coffee with all the dedication of a crackhead and was a little apprehensive about messing with the programme, using a plant based alternative instead of lovely fresh ice cold cow juice!?!? The fella serving (sorry didn't get your name) suggested half Almond milk half coconut milk.........Amazed........totally mind blown......I had two.......the 2nd accompanied by a massive slice of cake.........

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
