As for the rooms, they are quite spacious but have an outdated decor, offering great views of the swimming pool. The hotel has many little staircases and lacks an elevator. However, the walk to Matlock is enjoyable and not too far.

Staff were great. Even took me down to see the plunge pool and the spring under the hotel. I really enjoyed the continental breakfast. Swimming pool was too cold for me. Some of the chairs in reception are stained and need cleaning or removing. I had to ask for the desk chair in our room to be replaced as it was very badly stained. Staff very pleasant, continental breakfast had a good selection of items to choose from. Parts of the hotel are a little tired and needs a lick of paint but overall we enjoyed our stay Rooms: 4

The room was simple but spacious, located in a separate annex behind the hotel. It was quite cold, and the duvet provided was thin. Aside from the initial check-in, the staff were mostly uncommunicative and seemed to lack enthusiasm. The location is good, peaceful, and the lido appeared intriguing. Only visited the pool. Lovely experience. Water is very clean (and cold, obviously) and it's so nice to swim in water that doesn't have chlorine. Life guards are a good laugh and very friendly and helpful, and easy going. Changing spaces and toilets were clean, and generally the place just had a nice vibe to it. Plenty of parking, not too busy. We enjoyed it very much and will be back. Tenner is not cheap for a regular swim but it makes it a treat to visit. No faff.

Booked an afternoon spa which included a cream tea and treatment. Sat for 15 minutes in a cold resturant with our hot drinks and eventually had to ask if we would get any scones/cakes etc which prompted a staff member to serve us scones with jam and cream. Fortunately we got offered a drinks top up as ours had gone cold by then. The jacuzzi pool was only two thirds full of water and certainly not very warm, the steam room ok but the sauna didn't get very hot as the door wouldn't close properly. The covers on the relaxing chairs were stained. The treatment was lovely I opted for a 30 minite salt and oil scrub, this was the best thing about the whole experience. However, there are some drawbacks. The walls are quite dirty and in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint, the carpets show significant staining both in the rooms and hallways, the bathroom extractor fan is not functioning, and the pool is unclean, with green algae at the bottom. Additionally, there are strange issues such as long-standing unfinished construction work; for example, the patio has no proper tiles, only bare cement floors, and the base of the bathtub lacks skirting, exposing the beams, along with single-glazed windows in the 'new' section.
